Plenty of Lib MP’s resigning. Mostly from the moderate section of the party.

    Watch this space......

I KNOW there are members here who have an asthma attack every time penny’s name is mentioned but she comes across as erudite, intelligent and compassionate................oh! And gay :p I think we could do worse than Penny but unfortunately those very attributes would make her unacceptable to a certain percentage .org the Australian voting public

It wanted 50/50. It's almost there. So no avalanche of women. No shortage of men.

I think it called itself the 'party for women' - in part - to take a big swipe at the LNP for having scant women/and for perceived/apparent abuses of women in the LNP.

Also, with almost 50% representation, sure they're a party for woman!! And no need to state it's a 'party for men' - cos that is abundantly clear and has been since year dot.

I don't really buy into any of that rhetoric... both parties are just pandering for women's vote

    Thing i
Thing is Slip that when the radical left/right/whatever start agitating and grabbing headlines and followers, what happens is that those followers are usually the disgruntled and they are BELIEVERS. Trouble is each individual follower believes that “thier” leader has the same agenda for “wrong righting” as they do. When, over time, it becomes obvious that agendas do not in fact align you will see that faction disintegrate. It is the pattern that we are seeing now in America. Trump’s followers are slowly becoming disillusioned as time drags on. Admittedly it is taking longer than I thought but his reneging on the wall has fractured his base

BB the Libs are splitting as the right swing further to the right and the center want out.

Turnbull has gone silent, and if he is looking to form a more traditional Liberal party that sits right of center he will have around four years to recruit and refine. If it does happen, they already have a blue print to go off. So no off the cuff rubbish.

BB the split is not the extreme of the party as is usually the case, it is from the center. This may also have a small effect on ALP as it is no secret that the center faction there are not happy with the direction that party is heading in. They may not have the numbers the ALP left has, but they own the money.

As far as Trump is concerned, I think you may be surprised at the level of his support. The media are totally hostile to him, so don’t expect any “Trump done good” stories streaming out of the States. No fan here, but I detest the media above all else, and blame them for the breakdown of political stability. Make no mistake they run countries, because they have tapped into the tribalistic tendencies of humans and preyed on the lack of IQ within. Forget the politicians that dwell in “The Swamp”, the media are “The Swamp”.

The trouble with the media, particularly in recent years, is the massive scramble for audiences and income. This has led to sensationalism to a degree we have never seen before. Trump got and is still getting coverage because that is what sells news.

Unfortunately there is no real source for fact checking, which is why Russia was able to manipulate that
    last US election so effectively.

Add in to that a propensity in the USA to believe wholeheartedly in the most preposterous and ridiculous idiotic conspiracy theories and you have a recipe for bullshit unmatched in human history

Sorry, the only name I disagree with Wong. Strong at what??? Complaint, dissent because it definitely isn’t conviction…
I love the idea that it is because she is GAY. She voted down same sex marriage twice saying “ she could change it from the inside”. What did she achieve??? She railed against a plebiscite even complained about the mail plebiscite only to lose her political position and failure to actually stand up for what she claimed to believe in because she wanted to stay on party lines.

How can you back a leader who will not stand for her own beliefs… Oh wait, they support a grub… not sure if it is better than supporting a Morrison but that is the choices given, I guess.

Looking at the last few days of interviews with Morrisson, he looks increasingly stressed and flustered. At times close to losing his patience with irrelevant questions aimed at provoking such a response.

Alternatively Shorten looks smug and so he should. I have to give him credit however. In all the decades I have fervently studied politics I have never seen anybody better at putting on a bleating, whining, and devastated face at a media conference. He is the best. He has a genuine career after politics....acting! I am serious.

This is probably why he is so far behind Morrisson as preferred PM. I mean really, after all the crap the Libs have put us through, and Morrisson’s tour of blubbering, he is still not preferred as leader?

I guess some stenches you just can’t rid yourself of.

Yeah, the question is, who is worse. I say Shorten, others say Morrison. I just think we are considering different things in seriousness. Clearly, they are both really on the nose, it is the question of which one is less smelly...

I think one is a party issue, the other an individual issue.

I was recently at a massive reunion, a good cross reference of thoughts. What struck me was the lack of interest in this election. Most believe we are stuffed regardless.

The other thing that was resonating, and the only positive from a libs point of view from this get together, was the fear for their own individual economy under ALP. You see most were my age or older and facing retirement or already there.

I don’t think the Libs are smart enough to really exploit this fear among a huge silent group that could have a profound impact on this elections result.

Oh so true, I don't have a clue what Morrison stands for.

I believe, since the Liberals crucified the leadership of both Abbott and Turnbull they basically destroyed their credibility. However, it isn’t knowing how to exploit it, Dynamics have changed. The Coalition cannot rely on the age old drone voter as it has become apparent the electorate is not buying the product the parties are peddling.

I take particular note of polling as to the actual results and there has been huge swing away from the reality of the situation lately. Some remain gullible enough to accept the results but most are starting to realise it is not reality. It has often been said the squeaky wheel, and that is all these polls report. Minority expectations, while ignoring the majority.

I think the next election will find another minority government. Australia doesn’t need the problem of a government dogged by independents and minor parties slowing economic decisions when the world is in such flux. BUT I do think it is the only way people see getting away from policies of the very unpopular parties to find decency in government… Just my thoughts.

I think the ALP will have a majority government. There is just not enough regional voters to sway the city vibe. It now comes down to damage control and whether or not the Libs can resonate with the 50+ age bracket enough to sway the outcome in their favour.

The truth is the Libs do not deserve government, but.......

Are the libs in Australia similar to the American left?

If so, I too would enjoy watching them implode.

No the Aussie liberals are exactly like the US right, all about big business and nothing for the actual workers who keep Australia running.

Im a top quintile earner, and in southern California no less.

    Nobody has bought me.

Can you elaborate (lead me to info to back your stats)?

I don't think it's wise to compare Aussie political parties with the USA parties.

Having said that, I'm 63yo and early in my adult life was a swinging voter, raised in the western suburbs of Melbourne largely Labour territory.
A Bob Hawke fan at the time, then Keating in his earnest put himself first. What that downloaded to my new wife and myself in our 20's is a 20% interest rate on our second mortgage. Our first mortgage was a 7% rate being a defense service loan. That second mortgage crippled us. There was no way we could ever afford children let alone my wife working less than full time.

So that tossed me away from the Labour party. Eventually the "Never ever GST party" in the Liberals, fake accounts of the refugees over board issue and other factors tossed me away from the Liberal party.
Now I don't trust either party and will not vote for them. I will and do vote for Derryn Hinch Justice Party because I've personally known him since 1977 when I helped lock him up in Morwell River prison that year and I worked for his ex wife in the 2000's. I've also seen his work first hand with victims of crime with support for parents of murdered sisters. I know he is honest and has the work ethic and wont "turn". Other than his party it's the independents depending on where their preferences go.

So, in summary, you can trust the Liberals and put up with more spin than a childs top or into any Labour leader where union marriage smells not quite right....or you can reject them and not get disappointed with your vote.
