This is the latest Obama foreign policy? Turning our backs upon yet another ally? When and where does it end? How is the rest of the world to have any faith at all in our word? Read more @ http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Peace/...reaffirm-its-mutual-defense-treaty-with-Japan
Obviously the Japanese leadership is probably getting a bit nervous seeing how much calendar time Obama still has in office.
Hmmm what is the difference between Japan and (Ukraine and Syria)? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty..._Security_between_the_United_States_and_Japan In 2012, the United States clarified in a statement over the dispute over the Senkaku Islands that the US-Japan Security Treaty does cover the islands, and obliges the US to defend them as Japanese territory.[10] Japan is our ally, and we have a mutual defense treaty with Japan. We had no obligation at all regarding Ukraine or Syria- other than moral obligations- and if we start going by moral obligations, what makes Ukraine or Syria any more or less our obligation than dozens of other conflicts around the world?
truman doctrine is a HUGE waste of resources. Let other countreis fend for themselves. Stop all foreign aid. Let corporations who move to other countries pay for their own defense. We owe them NOTHING.
Granny says, "Dat's right - China tryin' to provoke a fight... Armed Chinese ship seen near disputed islands, Japan says Thu, Dec 24, 2015 - A Chinese coast guard ship equipped with what appeared to be four gun turrets was sighted near disputed islands in the East China Sea, Japans coast guard said yesterday.
Crimea wanted to be annexed by an over 90% margin or something, and it's Russia, so there weren't many people to defend. It would presumably be different in a different region and there has been some fighting in Ukraine.
Don't have a link but the Japanese legislature just voted to increase defense spending in reaction to China's efforts to expand its influence over the China Sea. They've also moved from mandated defense spending only to buy or make offensive weapons.
I just saw it this morning on the USNI News letter and website. It's breaking news. Here's the link.-> http://news.usni.org/2015/12/24/cab...230369141&mc_cid=4bceed7385&mc_eid=2aedd16e3c
Well, we have a decades long Defense Treaty with Japan. We had no treaty at all with the Ukraine or Syria. Heck, the Ukraine did not even agree to join NATO. So while we morally supported the Ukraine diplomatically, it is only their own fault that we could do nothing more because they did not join NATO.
