The 1st amendment? No...don't think that has anything to do with the Electoral College. Any change to the 1st or 2nd amendments or the Electoral college would require amendments to the Constitution and is, therefore unlikely to happen.

I don't know about the election of 2000 or 2016. Representatives are awarded to each state based on the population. We have 435 representatives, all with fairly equal number of people in each of the 435 districts. Each has approximately 711,000 people with the exception of a couple of small states which the constitution guarantees one representative.

So 435 out of the 538 are population based. what isn't is the 2 electoral votes given for each senator and DC's 3 electoral votes. The electoral college is a combination of being both population and state based. After all we are a union of the several states.

You probably right about 2000, Bush won 30 states to Gore's 20. Without the 2 electoral votes for each senators, it would have been Gore 222 to Bush's 211. You had an unfaithful electoral. 2016, again saw Trump win 30 states to Clinton's 20. Without the 2 electoral votes for each senator the final result would have been Trump 244, Clinton 185. The rest were unfaithful electors. Even with the electoral college being purely population based, Trump still would have won as he squeaked by in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. I also had to subtract 2 for DC leaving DC with just one electoral vote instead of three.

How does Warren plan to get 2/3 of each house and 38 states to agree with her?

    There's no "until recently" involved.

I was under the impression that 38 states would have to agree to that, and additionally under the impression that 38 states would most definitely not agree to that.

    perhaps i'm wrong.

Yes but you certainly fault Trump for something that most companies/business's take advantage of! I just see it as a weeee bit hypocritical!

I mean if you cant find fault in GM doing it then why be critical of Trump ;)

Montgomery ward went Bankrupt and so did Toys are us. Toys are Us has joined with Target and opened up two toy stores. Looks like they are trying to mount a comeback.

I honestly do not care what you consider hypocritical. Hypocrisy, in my opinion, is owned by the people who continue to support Trump...after castigating former president Bill Clinton and Barack Obama for their failings.

    1) Warren NEVER said, what you have mistakenly claimed in the OP Title.

Warren NEVER used the word "WILL".

    Here is her Exact Quote:

My goal is to get elected—but I plan to be the last American president to be elected by the Electoral College. I want my second term to be elected by direct vote.

    2) Since abolishing the EC would require a Constitutional Amendment, it would be IMPOSSIBLE.

    Any Everybody (Already) KNOWS That.

Since the GOP has control of so many State Legislatures.

    3) There is a difference between saying "I WANT to Eliminate the EC" and "I WILL Eliminate the EC".

Your OP Title is completely FAKE (and Mischaracterized).

Do you see the DIFFERENCE Between the Following 2 Statements:

    1) "I Want to sleep with Margot Robbie"

    2) "I WILL sleep with Margot Robbie"

^That is why your Blatant Mischarcaterization of Warren's Statement in the OP is an Epic FAIL.

    Carry on. :salute:

Warren's campaign website says it all.

Get Rid of the Electoral College
    ShareFacebookTwitter
Presidential candidates should have to ask every American in every part of the country for their vote. Add your name if you agree: It’s time to abolish the Electoral College and to have a national popular vote.

Everyone’s vote should count equally — in every election — no matter where they live.

But right now, presidential candidates don’t even go to places like Mississippi, where I was last night, because it’s a deep red state. They also don’t go to deep blue states like California or Massachusetts because they’re not presidential battlegrounds.

I believe presidential candidates should have to ask every American in every part of the country for their vote, not just a few random states that happen to be close.

We have this wonderful new industry called construction where buildings can be enlarged!
    It’s quite amazing!

We also have teleconferencing and other new and miraculous technologies that could also easily solve the issue.

Oh...you think he would not be in bankruptcy court?

Okay...he might be chasing porn stars...or playing golf.

    I'll give you that.

But he would not be president.

    My previous post was incorrect.
In 2000, proportional state allocation - Bush picks up electoral votes.
In 2016, it breaks 256-250 for Hillary - which is a win for Trump.
