I’m right of Rush but I don’t see the resistance to some on the right to wearing a mask. Yes Covid has been politicized and yes democrats are attempting to make it worse than it is to scare people and trash Trump but the virus is real and people are dying from it.
Wearing a mask has been proven to help prevent the spread so what’s the big deal? Just do it for others as a courtesy just like you’d cover your mouth if you had a cough.

Not only that, but put a mask on a pole & make people bow to it.

If they won't bow to the mask upon the pole, execute them.

Maybe force them to terrorize their children first.

    Imma right?

Among other things the mask is the symbol of the power of the state brought against healthy grumblers:)

There's a lot of long-spined, multi-ribbed humor wrapped up in truth in there if you look for it.:)

Now I’m thinking about wearing an Isengard Orc mask with the white hand of Saruman helmet

[Shrug} I wear a mask because in my area it is a law. If you exit your front door you run a risk of a hefty fine if you are not wearing a mask. So I wear a mask. In truth I would wear one anyway simply because my wife is terrified of Covid-19; and I don't want to upset her. Since we know people who have died from it, by rights I should probably be worried as well; but I am not. I still consider this to be nothing more than a deadlier than usual flu season, but then again, I'm no Fauci; and so what do I know?

If Mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy:)

Yeah, it's good to wear the mask -- just don't believe that it'll make you strong twelve ways like Wonder Bread.

My family is immune to it. Why should I have to wear a mask?

I don't live in an area hit badly by COVID, but I stocked up on N95 masks when they were telling us not to wear them.

If need be I have enough, if not so be it. As it is I have no reason to wear one. If that changes so will my actions.

I agree with you. I went to Japan and in late February just as this whole covid thing was starting and was very reluctant to where a mask. We brought some with us and I wore it for short stints on the plane but the moment we landed and went to the desk to purchase our Pasmo card the clerk ask me to put on my mask on. Trying to be respectful of other customs I wore the mask whenever we were in public. Talking to our local guides they said it was more of a sign of showing respect to others and that you were concerned about their welfare. Since returning home I have adopted that thinking. I may not be 100% convinced that mask are effective but out of respect and piece of mind for others I continue to do so.

The big deal is that fake news travels faster than the speed of light. (1) Yes, 'masks', or simply face coverings, are generally effective at slowing, reducing, or containing the spread of potentially infectious spew. (2) Certain 'masks' can also provide a good measure of personal protection through filtration of incoming air when combined with other spread-mitigation techniques can further diminish one's own risk to becoming infected. Here's the problem:

    (1) There are certain types of 'mask's that will not achieve the ideal degree of containment. These are your obvious wire screen mesh masks, your Alyssa Milano style crochet mask, masks with one-way valves/vents, and others that are, by design, not effective at this task.

    (2) No mask, repeat no mask of any kind, can be 100% effective at filtering SARS-CoV-2 containing particles from inbound air. The ONLY way to be 100%, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT, sure you aren't breathing in SARS-CoV-2 virus is to be sealed in an airtight suit breathing from a contained supply of sanitized air. Anything short of that and you WILL have a degree of risk that filtration of incoming particles will not be 100% effective. However we can achieve near-100% efficacy with certain materials, affixed correctly to our faces, and worn over short periods of time.

Now having read these caveats its quite clear that if I were to say "masks don't work" I would not be a bold faced liar. However I would be a dishonest gaslighting jerkoff because I treated a complex balance of circumstance, conditions, and factors as if it were a binary operation. And this is where the fake news part comes in. Because right at the start of all of this, when we were at our most critical, ignorant arrogant anti-masker assclowns roamed the country spewing half-truths (more like thousandth-truths) about how "masks don't work". Were they wrong? Heh, if we were to include every possible proviso then no I guess they weren't (even though I doubt they knew what they were talking about even then). But were they right? HELL NO!!! Because masks DO work and they ARE vital to containing COVID.

But fake news took hold. It was spread by right-wing pundits, politicians, even President Trump played a key role in attacking masks through his comments and refusal to wear them. The result: too many people believed masks were ineffective. Most of them were right-wingers and they folded in anti-mask belligerent with delusions of "muh rights" and "muh freedoms" and "muh tyranny" and refusing to wear a mask became a symbol of defying Democrats. Its now a political thing. Fake news owned them and the honest science never stood a chance. I've said since the start that if Republicans lose the Presidency it will be due to anti-mask belligerence and re-open crusading. COVID was the GOP's chance to fulfill all the promises of service to country, to community, to God, and they FAILED they FAAAAIILLEEDDD MASSIVELY, I cant emphasize this enough, and they did it for the stupidest of possible reasons (so dumb I left the party) and was: refusal to wear a mask.

Is covering your mouth still acceptable? Who gets to make the declaration?

What experiments have proven the mask help prevents the spread? Was that something from David Muir on ABC?

I know 2 religious mask wearers who caught it while masked. Thankfully both were young and neither died.

mask wearers tend to feel as if a force field has been erected around them. They go forth and cross contaminate things, touch their eyes and nose, re-use the same contaminated mask, touch the cell phone to their face, mask up, touch lots of things again, rinse/repeat

Just because people question the supposed 'truth' behind wearing a mask, doesn't necessarily mean they don't wear them. Those that screech about wearing a mask, likely get the responses that get the most reaction.

Considering the amount of other ways the virus can be transmitted in public spaces, people touching parts of their face and body, then touching goods, not maintaining 'social distancing', the idea that a cloth facecovering is going to prevent spread is a little bit of a bandaid on an evisceration.

Since the media likes to politicize the deaths of those who verbalized their dislike or disbelief in the supposed preventive aspect of masks, it's interesting how one cannot find data or stats of mask usage of people who have tested positive.

I wear a mask when I have to but I respect the right of people to make that decision for themselves. Encouragement instead of coercion would have put us in a better position than we are today. Maintaining social distancing would have been better.

When someone covers their mouth when they cough is that to stop them getting a cough? I know it has been so many times, a mask main aim is to stop you from transmitting the virus. Did those 2 religious mask wearers catch the virus from you?

Which no one ever said. Why are you perpetuating that lie?

And you want some info on benefit of mask wearing - look at Japan and the far east numbers

I would agree mask are not a panacea but I'm convinced they at least help and when you are in a crowd you don't know who around you is at high risk so wearing a mask just seems like the right thing to do.
I'd partially agree with your assessment of how not wearing a mask is seen by some as standing up to democrats tyranny but I'd hold democrats to blame for that with their heavy handed approach.
I'd totally disagree with your attempt to blame Trump for political slant on mask. He gets tested daily so really he doesn't need to wear one and made the choice that not wearing a mask portrays a leader who has things under control and is unafraid. You may agree or disagree with that image decision but it's not why other people don't wear mask.

I saw a study of droplets in the air with and without mask and that convinced me they are useful. That was after bring firmly on the fence following the Fauci fiasco where he admitted he lied to America about mask in the beginning months of the pandemic. He has lost all credibility and Trump was right to send him to the locker room.

Same can be said about people who wear helmets on a motorcycle. It makes some fools feel invincible.

As some are fond of saying, 'science'. If the weave of the fabric permits air to pass through, it will also permit microscopic germs/bacteria/moisture through.

You can't trust testing. 60 plus NFLer's were tested and all came back positive. They were retested at a second lab and all came back negative. Testing is running up a big bill for not much good at all.

But the mask is a primitive barrier, and it has to be worth a little something, not much, but something.

Good point on testing actually. A friend of ours got sick and was tested for Covid but it came back negative. No way she didn’t have Covid though. She had every Covid symptom and was desperately ill for a month.
As to how this pertains to Trump not wearing a mask I still maintain he thinks it would look weak for a president to constantly wear a mask. Agree or disagree with that image decision I don’t think it’s a quantifiable factor in the decision of some to not mask up.

Wear masks but don't take it seriously. It's bound to do some good rather than nothing at all.

If masks make you feel bad you can always go commando for a cheering up (wear no undies).
