I think that there was a lot of assumption/projection happening there.

Hyperbolic ignorance has been a main component of this thread.

I believe it’s 200 yards here from occupied structures not owned by the shooter for hunting with a rifle. One hundred yards for non rifle weapons I think. If you own or control the structure it’s entirely up to you.

Here you go. Cheaper, more effective and safer for your neighbors.
if your gun is for self defense and protecting your home you want the neighbors to be calling the police, noise is good. If your neighbors live nearby you shouldn't be shooting a rifle or pistol at home except in your defense and again you're wanting the police called. If you live far enough away that risk to your neighbors is minimal then a suppressor is not needed. If your intention is to deal with varmints use a more appropriate weapon, obviously cages and poisons are the most effective but a pellet gun is just as effective as a suppressed rifle or pistol and doesn't endanger your neighbors nor piss off the police getting called over the death of a gofer.

I'm here to assure you that we truly value your opinion but I'm also here to most assuredly assure you.... That we're not terribly interested in your opinion of what you think we need and what we don't

Until 2011 silencers were rare. Their numbers are now growing at a rate of 30% a year yet have few actual legitimate uses. The new owners are being played because gun sales are driopping and this is a new market. The cost of owning one starts at $400 and goes up.

You already have to have a tax stamp and they're not very easy to go out and buy so rest your fears...

Would you care to pull up the most recent case where someone used a suppressor to supposedly stealthfully kill a person?

And also lest someone should fall prey to the misinformation... None of your information is accurate.

But of course we don't expect you to provide any evidence

When has a suppressor ever been used effectively in home Security? Where do you find any fault in my queries? What use is there for them but to raise producers incomes?

Personal insults aside, my sources have been largely the ATF and
    https://www.silencershop.com/blog/post/how-much-are-suppressors
which is it that you call inaccurate, the pro gun suppressor site or the ATF?

So we're back to the beginning what possible, legitimate use is there for a suppressor in your home? You don't want one in the event of an intruder because you want the neighbors calling the police and you certainly don't need one in a rural setting. As far as I can see it's an expensive toy that can increase dangers for innocents and yourself. It's like buying a maserati for going grocery shopping in town, looks cool but really a waste.

@StillBlue , The ATF told you that suppressor sales are up 30%.

How many licensed supressors are there total?

The fact of the matter is that absolutely nobody in all the Earth actually needs a Jet Ski, or a skate board for that matter, and since I am afraid you might get hurt, anybody could get hurt, so nobody should be allowed to posses a Jet Ski except the federal government and the military. It's for the children.

First of all no one has personally insulted you. It is a fact that your information is not accurate. Therefore it is misinformation. Now if I told you it was disinformation that would mean I was accusing you of willfully passing it along but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt in thinking that you are just not well informed on the subject.

Suppressors have been in use for a very long time. You might try looking up the welrod pistol. Firing a large caliber handgun inside of a home can literally rupture your eardrums.

Guns are so common where I live that gunfire does not automatically warrant a call to the police.

Suppressors do not in any way shape or form increase the danger of a firearm. That is more misinformation.

Now that you have been informed of it, I would not expect you to keep repeating such misinformation.

Got an actual number and not just a estimate?

Because your ATF told you suppressor sales, and presumably licensing, are up 30%. 30% of what?

There are many things that exist that can cause injury when misused. It's not a fair argument in that up to now no one has given me a legitimate use for silencers other than giving you the grins having one. Sorry,, your grins don't outweigh the negatives.

There are no negatives and for the last time.... They are properly called suppressors. They do not " silence " anything.

You are simply by calling me a liar or stupid like this.
Yet not one thing I've said has been refuted by anyone, yourself included.

Not one word I've said has been even remotely refuted.
I'm flat out saying you have contributed nothing of value.

If it offends you that I am calling out your inaccurate information then that is not my problem.

You have offered nothing of value but misinformation.

When you have been corrected in that inaccurate information and yet you continue to persist, it is at that point that someone can only conclude that you are doing it on purpose.

Do you plan to continue inaccurately referring to suppressors as a "silencer" ?

Once again they don't silence anything. They simply reduced the decibels to the point where hearing damage is not as much of a concern

The AFT refers to them as silencers. Manufacturers moved to start calling the suppressors just over 10 years ago. Marketing?

Silencer is slang. The ATF has a reputation for being bad ass, so they use a lot of slang.

Or it could be that your average gun grabber is ignorant, having only heard about suppressors from watching Hollywood movies, and that's who the ATF is reaching out to....

I have given you numerous legitimate uses. Why be dishonest? It doesn’t help your credibility.

All your claims have been refuted. You made claims a shotgun should be used when someone said they used a shot shell in a derringer. You claimed only thugs have legitimate uses for suppressors. You claimed suppressors wear out quicker than earmuffs. These are all false claims in the real world.

Now if only there were a legitimate use for Jet Skis.

Of course there isn't and never will be. We need to collect all the jet skis and put them into concentration camps. Nobody can name a legitimate reason to have one, so we should ban them. It's for the children. We don't want them to have anything we had when we were growing up, because look at how we turned out!

Jet skis, I wish they would just get rid of them all.

Nobody is calling the police for a gunshot at any hour of the day in this part of the world. I could torch off an unsuppressed 44 mag in my house and nobody would hear it.

I have working dogs I have close to $10K wrapped up in. My highest priced suppressor was around $1K. I have dozens of equines and bovines around where I have to shoot that are worth $15-$30K. The genetics are priceless as they are not replaceable at any price. The total cost of an injury to an equine from hitting a fence can run $2K even if the animal survives and is sound at the end of treatment. My dogs are not only my workers they are my family.

A suppressor or silencer or gun muffler is not a fancy toy. It’s a bloody wise investment that pays lifetime dividends. Earmuffs pay no dividends.

We get it. YOU have no use for a suppressor. But many of us do. Calling us thugs etc. isn’t going to bolster your position.
