Having established that We the People are being EXPLOITED by the GREED OBSESSED Wall Street Casino Bosses I was fortunate to have someone draw my attention to a Twitter thread that deserves to be read by all IMO.

    https://twitter.com/madlori/status/1153729750738833414?s=03

    :applause:

The author has far more eloquently and succinctly described the transition from our current dire straights to a better tomorrow than I could ever hope to accomplish.

In fact it was so good that I believe it deserves a wider audience and some serious discussion.

There were some additional comments in the thread that were excellent so I am going to share them too.

Interesting how that small subset of the responses effectively NULLIFIED all of the usual kneejerk denialism that this concept usually evokes.

Imagine an America where We the People love what we do and do what we love during our working lives?

Imagine how much happier everyone would be working at things that they enjoy rather than the tedium of being forced to work at work that is not rewarding.

Imagine how much LESS STRESSFUL work would be when we are doing what we love to do?

Imagine how more PRODUCTIVE we would be as a nation if we were working because we WANTED to work?

The POSITIVES easily outweigh the negatives. Our HEALTH would be better and our FAMILY lives would improve. We would have the TIME and the ENERGY to ensure that we STOPPED harming the environment.

LIFE itself would be better and we would get to enjoy Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness again.

The only IMPEDIMENT to achieving this alternative is OURSELVES.

    We CAN make it HAPPEN.

As FDR put it the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

We Americans are used to tackling difficult challenges.

Let's take this one on and make the lives of We the People worth living to the fullest extent possible again.

    Your comments?

Good idea. I only have one suggestion. Only the people who are in favor of this should have to pay for it. I should not have to pay taxes to support someone who doesn't work because he does not want to work. That would take a lot of stress out of my life.

    Sorry, not buying it.

I guess I'll use myself as a good example I've had the same job for 32 years. Probably miss 30 days of work in that time. Before I started this career I worked part-time / full-time since the age of 14.

I like my job I like my customers I like my coworkers, make a moderate but honest living, generally happy healthy social get along with all my friends and family.

I work because I need money to enjoy my life, and I really honestly do like my job.

Give me enough cash and I would walk away from my job tomorrow as if it never happened I wouldn't even stop by to pick up my coffee mug or say goodbye.

Might buy a bigger boat, be a bum And generally screw off the rest of my life.

So bring on the guaranteed income I already have my eye on the perfect boat and I look forward to my final years being filled with drunken debauchery.

I am a consumer. Therefore I would be paying for people who choose not to work. Again. I am fine with the idea, just as long as it is paid for by the people who favor this arrangement. I don't want the stress of paying more for a product because someone else chooses not to work.

Your own UBI would cover that extra cost so there won't be any "stress" on you.

LOL, why would I expect a progressive to understand human nature when their platform completely ignores it for their Utopian wet dreams.

Thank you for ESTABLISHING that you FAILED to substantiate your bovine excrement allegation.

FTR the OP demolished your nonsense that you have FAILED to substantiate.

When the product is put in the store, they should be put two prices on it. One is the higher price for those who wish to participate and a lower price for those who choose not to participate. I am liking this idea more and more every minute.

In which case you AND your spouse would have to opt out of ever receiving UBI at all.

Understood. Only those who favor this idea should have to pay for it.

It would mean that We the People would be EXPLOITED by a GREED OBSESSED authoritarian regime who not only has our financial resources to use against us, but will have a monopoly on firearms to cement their control. That's why Marxism / Socialism / Progressivism always transforms into genocidal Communism regimes before failing.

Finland ended their UBI experiment because it did nothing to increase 'people wanting to work'. So there is that.

No they won't. Corporations would move out of the country. Admit it, the working middle class would be taxed thru the nose.

    WRONG!

Finland was NOT doing a trial of UBI because it did NOT cover basic living costs.

Looks like the body count from these type regimes were not enough to change some people's minds.

Ah... the progressive socialist utopia where everyone loves what they do, and is impassioned to work for the betterment of everyone else...

I'm positive that's exactly how the desperately poor who lived through the Soviet empire felt... that the repressed and oppressed in China now feel...
