    The center of the abortion debate is, and always has been, whether it's about one life or two. Pro-choicers deny the fetus is a person and the woman has a right to control her own body. Pro-lifers counter that she has no right to control whether the fetus, another person in their eyes, lives or dies. That's why abortion opponents claim the anti-slavery abolitionists as their forebears; they fought against the denial of personhood to slaves. That claim of course enrages the pro-choicers, and around we go.

    Not in the U.S. legal system. Some rights are defined in the constitution like the right of free speech. Some rights derive from natural law like a right to life. Beyond that what people think are rights are actually privileges or indulgences. Abortion fits here. It can't be a right since it interferes with the natural right to life. It is an indulgence and now is an indulgence managed by the states rather than federal government. It isn't going to change. You might as well adapt and make your views known to your state government. Roe is gone. It is a dead horse.

    No such right exists. A more accurate statement would be that she has the ability to remove the fetus with the permission of government in some places. There is no such thing as a right to take a life.

    As noted at the outset, I'm pro-choice. But for those who regard abortion as murder the location of the fetus is irrelevant. The issue cannot be compromised between two such categorical views.

    One quarter of the state legislatures can veto any amendment. That's a huge hurdle to jump over for any proposed amendment. Not insurmountable, but extremely difficult.

    "another person" in THEIR eyes you nailed that one, when the fetus can go to school, and buy a beer, and any of a variety of things people can do they will have a point, however for now the fetus is totally dependent and should get foodstamps at least..strange this is ireland has been thru this whole circus and is back with legal abortion...current the SC has a tricky anti women's rights win
