Has someone mentioned Wandavision and I just missed it? I think it's the most watched show in the world right now, and I'm really enjoying it, but it looks like it wraps up next week.

I have caved in and started watching The Crown this week.
So far, I am waiting to be convinced it is worth the hype.

    I started watching Truth Seekers on Amazon this week;
I'm about halfway through the series.

I had never heard of it until I saw it on Amazon Prime.
    I like it.

Assembly Required is a new show on History/Sky History (in the UK) hosted by Tim Allen and Richard Karn of Home Improvement fame.

I love this show, I set my DVR to record them as soon as I saw it was coming and I'm 3 episodes in in the UK and it's one of my new favourite shows I'm currently enjoying these days.

Just started binge watching Fargo and Lucifer.
First series of Fargo was excellent.
    Lucifer is a bit lightweight.

I am really looking forward of watching game of thrones! I finished so many series like the vampire diaries and its spin offs.

Recently got through the first two seasons of the Mandalorian. Man, I wish the Disney movies had been made with that kind of writing and respect for the source material!

Been working my way more slowly through an old anime series called Super Dimension Fortress Macross. The animation quality is on par with other 1980s cartoons, but it's a pretty cool series for its concept and characters.

Got through the available seasons of Castlevania as well, and that was better than I was expecting.

Never heard of it. In my area, the cable company is doing a promotion that allows me to watch ON DEMAND shows from pay-stations this week. I went for HBO, & watched the 1st episode of HARD, but it seemed like it was going to take too long to get going, and I don't have all day to watch t.v. (if I did, when would I post, here?).

So I switched to BARRY. It's a comedy, starring Bill Hader (from SNL), as a marine veteran who, after returning from Afganistan, feeling w/o a purpose, has allowed a friend of his father's to turn him into a hit man-- don't worry, no time really spent getting to this point in the story. Anyway, he's sent to L.A., on a job &, in pursuing his target, winds up in an acting class, where he is bitten by the acting bug. Barry wants to give up hired killing, which he doesn't feel really good about doing, but spontaneous employment decisions are a bit trickier, when you are a paid assassin.

Anyway, I give this series a definite thumb's up. Over the last 2 nights I watched the 8-episode (half-hour each) 1st season. Even though there are farcical elements (as concerning characters among the Chechnyan mob which is central to the story) the plot maintains the ability to generate tension around the criminal activity better, & with a more realistic feel, than the average Bond movie, for sure. But, as I said, it's a comedy, & certainly delivers on that score, as well.

I'd put it in the same general category as the 1st season of FARGO, except it is much more streamlined, and the focus is even more focused on Barry's character, making it hard to not forge a connection with him, than on the exciting & readily-absorbing plot. It is the reality within Barry, despite his unusual life circumstances, which induces all of the viewer's sympathies and makes the action of the plot so compelling.

There's only one more season available to me, which I plan on finishing by the weekend.

You've peaked, then, in your FARGO experience. I agree, 1st season was GREAT! 2nd season will be a big disappointment. From what little grazing I've done of other seasons, I'd say that all your best memories of that show may be in the rear-view, after this. Have you ever seen a series called PREACHER? It has some of the elements of FARGO: violence; suspense; & bizarreness. That said, it's not a crime show. It's based on a wild comic, it turns out, with a supernatural basis. But I thought the first season was well done: exciting, funny, & very entertaining. Like FARGO, it falls off a cliff, for the 2nd season.

You also might want to check out my recommendation in the previous post (to Lil Mike), of BARRY. Or, going back to shows that had one kick-ass season in their tanks, I would also recommend the 1st season of HAPPY. There are good action/fight scenes, & it's easy to get caught up in it, but it does have more of a whimsical side than FARGO. Christopher Meloni is this tough, ex-cop with amazing skills & a various bad habits, and comedian Patton Oswalt does the voice of HAPPY, his estranged daughter's imaginary little horse-friend, who goes for help when Hailey is kidnapped, and is able to be seen by Meloni's character, Nick. It might sound silly, but I found it absorbing, and a lot of fun (but 1st season, only). The second season isn't bad, but clearly falls shy of the first.

I guess I should have specified that Wandavision is streaming on Disney Plus. If you don't have that, you're not going to see it.

I checked &, though there were a couple of different Disney channels available for the free Watchathon, neither was Disney Plus, so I couldn't check out Wandavision.

As for Barry, if you haven't seen it (and you don't mind me continuing my comments, since I began them with you), it does something rather unusual for the second season. It makes a pretty sharp turn from being an Action Dramedy, to become essentially a Drama-- with some, but much less, brute action, and limited absurdist humor, though still with its share of off-beat moments, yet most delivered seriously. And the thing is, I am finding it even more engrossing, & compelling, than season 1.
Real characters, and well done-- I've only got 1 episode left to watch!

I finished S1 of Fargo a while ago now and I've not had any great desire to start S2 yet.

Metal Hurlant is on AP. If you remember the 80’s film Heavy Metal where several stories are connected by a green orb that wanders through space, it’s kinda like that. It’s well written sci-fi and beautifully shot. A little camp here and there, but 2 seasons and I’m ready for more.
That and a Curse Words with Nic on Netflix. Only 7 episodes but really funny.

Is that because you fear it will be a let-down, or are you just in the mood for something different?

You didn't give me any feedback on my recommendations: Preacher (S1); Happy (S1); and Barry. As for Barry, it kind of switches gears in season 2, as I explained to @Lil Mike, a couple of posts back, but it's still good. The final episode of S2, I didn't find satisfying, but I think, as I knew I wouldn't be seeing Season 3 (at least not anytime soon), I was hoping for a more hopeful coda. The resolution, instead, was a bit dark & nihilistic, but it definitely pointed the way to a new stage of plot development for the third season. This is random, but I've somehow neglected to mention, in my other posts about it, that one of the main starring roles on the show is filled by Henry Winkler, which he tackles w/ style & pizazz, both comedically & dramatically.

If action crime-dramas are your thing, I'll add the recommendation of The Shield. It's a real adrenaline ride, both exciting & engaging. I've only seen a few of the, I believe, 7 seasons. The 1st season of Queen of the South, is also worthwhile, but it just got too unrealistic for me, by the end of season 2. For a more quirky show, I recall enjoying Reaper, & being disappointed that it ended after only 2 seasons. This is something you can watch online for free, on ABC, if you don't mind the commercials. I'll admit that part of its appeal, though, was the young Missy Peregryn. What other shows are up your alley?

    Favorite sitcoms..

    Frasier-Seinfeld-King of the hill

I watch those on Hulu. Between those 3 shows there are about 700 total episodes. Also like Family guy and American dad.

    Favorite dramas
    Breaking bad-Sopranos-Better call Saul

I watch those on a free site called Sflix. All kinds of free movies and shows and because of a site like that we only have one streaming service now.
    https://sflix.to

Also like Northern Exposure which is technically a sitcom but structured different. Episodes were an hour long. That show is not on any paid streaming service but Sflix has it.

Saw some shows on Sflix last week that I really like and recommend. "Midnight diner".

A Japanese show about a guy who runs a little restaurant in Tokyo that is open 12am-7am.

They made 2 movies. Midnight diner(2014) and Midnight diner 2(2016). There is also a tv series called Midnight diner-Tokyo stories. They are all very good.

I've not seen any of the recommended shows so can't provide feedback.
I'm looking for a new science fiction show. I enjoyed the Expanse and struggled to the end of Battlestar Galactica recently and now I need a replacement.

I don't have a Sci-Fi recommendation that comes to mind, at the moment. I did catch a few episodes of Avenue 5, on HBO, which was entertaining enough, though its silly Sci-Fi, strictly a comedy, & I'm guessing you'd prefer something with a more realistic feel. Unfortunately, a lot of, "sci-fi," these days, revolves around zombies, or spirits. I'll keep an eye out, though,on your behalf.

I enjoy it too. Although structurally it's romance, with all of the simple tropes of that genre, it does have time travel and a really good look at Scottish society, at least in the early seasons.

I watched Avenue 5 on HBO and thought it was terrible. It was supposed to be a comedy, but the comedy was simply a bunch of people yelling at each other. That got tiresome pretty quick. Too bad too, because the cast was great, but the material they had to work with was...ugh.

If I were to recommend a SF show, right now it would be Resident Alien. It was a bit of a dramedy and I found it entertaining.
