?

What are you going to do with your $600 "stimulus" from 'Uncle Sugar'?

  1. Use it to pay half my rent.

  2. Use it to pay my heating bill.

  3. Use it get some more tattoos.

  4. Use it to pay for half of a new phone.

  5. Use it to pay for half of a new TV.

  6. Put in my checking account and pay off overdrafts.

  7. Stick in in my savings account where it will earn 0.01% percent interest.

These days, don't trust the 'snail-mail' organization to do anything but stuff advertisement circulars in your box.

True stories: It took a MONTH for a Christmas card I sent to a relative 600 miles away to get there. And, a friend of mine in Germany sent us a Christmas card right after Thanksgiving, and it hasn't gotten here YET! After Thanksgiving, I had ordered a product on amazon and it was to be delivered by UPS (not 'snail-mail'). UPS is always very reliable and I've rarely even seen them be late, but they totally botched the delivery of my product, which mysteriously NEVER arrived. Then, I was told, in essence, "too bad, so sad, get a refund"... so, I did.

I've heard that as the government got ready for the big vaccine rollout in December, it UNOFFICIALLY, and very QUIETLY, tied up a very large proportion of the entire transportation and distribution industry in the United States. But why this would have impacted the 'snail-mail' sector makes no sense....

For some reason, some GPS devices show wrong location when searching for my address. I have an honest neighbor that frequently gets my parcels (she lives 3 blocks away) and I often end up with a double of my Amazon order - I order something, they deliver to wrong address, I ask them to redeliver and then I finally get the item. Usually, a week or two after that the neighbor shows up with my original order. :)

You are so right! True story: a buddy of mine was going to meet some friends camping up at Twin Lakes (south of Leadville, north of Buena Vista) here in Colorado. His hooptie GPS device (which he was so proud of) told him where he should park his car for the 'short walk' to where his party was. HA! It ended up that he was parked on the wrong side of the lake entirely, and he had to hurriedly hike around the entire lake, in near-dark conditions, to get them!

I personally suspect that the IRS pretended they mailed them out to comply with the January 15th deadline but in reality have not since everybody's is saying the same scheduled date not that it actually was mailed on January 6th. Their website also says not to file a trace on it until after Feb 26 which the last business day in February so really March 1.

Actually if they're not at least securely middle class, many will end up near to or actually homeless. That's an absolute certainty, where nothing else is. The trajectory has been abundantly clear for years now.

Textbooks. I accidentally charged my mom's credit card when buying them. So I had to pay her back.

It means that you don't need a 3rd round. It's a shame that 3rd rounds are going to people who don't need it, and instead of spending the money to stimulate the economy, they will just invest it like you'll do.

So now that Trump is out, you are concerned about debt and deficit? Did you manifest a similar outrage at what he was doing to the economy?
And then he managed to botch a pandemic response and ruin it.
When people talk about Trump's economy, his supporters are always trying to discount 2020. Nope, they don't get to do that. We rank 5th from the bottom up comparing all countries in their responses to Covid19, only above Iran, Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil, and behind freaking Bolivia. So, almost all economic indicators are worse now, at the end of Trump's four years, and it doesn't matter if the economy was seemingly going well in 2019; he ruined it in 2020 by responding so poorly to the pandemic.

Oh, CenterField, believe me -- I've ranted and raved against a number of things that Trump did, going all the way back to his lies about the funding of the "wall", and then going forward with things he engineered and caused in the economy, like threatening to fire the Federal Reserve Chairman, Powell, if he didn't resume the CRUSHING of interest rates -- only to assist the 'almighty-god' stock market! NOT my favorite president, by a LONG shot.

Trump threw one temper-fit after another after the Fed had increased interest rates another piss-ant .25% in December 2018, and it was messing up Donald's dreams of glory for all the gamblers in his vision of the 'Big Casino', the speculators would surely re-elect him in 2020, or so he thought. Trouble was -- there weren't enough happy stock market gamblers to 'do the trick' for him after all! :frown:

And yet, I voted for Trump twice! How could I possibly DO that...? It was only because the Democrat Party candidates were, in 2016 and in 2020, orders of magnitude WORSE!

Now... especially in the aftermath of 'the virus', we've got a gutted dollar, we've got a stupendous, almost incalculable national debt, we got a stupidly overvalued stock market, we've got a national debt-to-GDP ratio of 107%, and, we're saddled with a senile, old machine-politician in the White House who is led around like a barnyard animal by a klatch of hyperliberal, 'woke', radical-Democrats. Woopie... right? :dead:

Good idea and you are correct. Way worse is coming.
I voted for half a TV as what I will use it for came closet to what I will use mine for. I intend to pay cash for a nice new Lexus ES.

Can you please qualify and quantify this.

I cannot image anything worse than a Trump administration, I'd like to see something other than culture, when supporting the piece of **** know as Trump, spoken to.

Not woopie, but do realize that the economy has mostly fared better under Democrats than under Republicans for the last several decades. This is demonstrable. GDP growth for Dem presidents about 4.6% and for GOP presidents 2.4%, is the average. I'm not that worried about the economy. I think that when hopefully this pandemic is over (let's just hope the virus doesn't keep mutating too much) the economy will roar back as cabin feverish people will want to have fun again and consume again.

I think that what really destroys an economy is an out-of-control deadly pandemic. Once we are no longer facing that, we shall be on a recovery path.

Siemens, a German-based company that has a large footprint in the world of automation, just announced that all customers should expect shipping delays. The rate at which the economy is roaring back to life in Europe [which was not run by an idiot] is creating shortages.

Boeing also started bringing people back last week. Of course they were fighting both the 737-800 issue and then Covid. But they clearly see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Anyone who qualifies for the $600 shouldn't be giving financial advice because they aren't qualified. ;)
