Both powerful & fragile, this is a tremulously emotive cover of the Poppa Roach song, "Scars," by Madilyn Bailey. The first version has a lesser quality sound, but that's because, with it, you also get a heartfelt figure skating performance, by Amber Glenn, choreographed to the music. The only video I could find, though, was shot by someone in the audience, so it's all at a bit of a distance-- you'll definitely want to use the little box on the lower right, to at least get the larger, "landscape" display.

A southern rock band that suffered from it members dying too early one by one.

This classic 70's hit has always been a favorite of mine. Here are four female covers of Dave Loggins' "Please Come To Boston." They all really put their own spins on the song. This first one has an even more folksy sound than the original, with also a bit of mountain music flavor, adding in strings, and piano.

I didn't know I was a Tammy Wynette fan, but she gives the song a distinctive vibe, all her own.

Some lovely singing, here, by Rita Wilson.

And I'll wrap it up, with this Joan Baez cover:

that might be his most famous song but my two favorite he did (one with his Bass Player Kenny Passarelli doing the vocals: are these two)

three versions of this vastly underrated song.

the first is the Crazy Horse version with Danny Whitten (RIP) on lead vocals

the second has Neil Young's vocals

and finally Whitten again on lead with Neil on backing

I never heard that song before and I thought I was the Neil Young expert.

I do know I like this song of his though.

Great song. I posted it, myself, in the alphabetical song thread.

I remember the first time I heard this song. I was high, but I still pulled my car over to the side (up on the grass, in fact), so I could fully listen, with all my attention, regardless of whether that might make me stand out, should law enforcement, come along. It was a fairly country backroad, and no one drove by, while I revelled in it. Afterward, I thought to myself, had police asked, why I was pulled over, & not driving, I would've just explained, "But it's Neil Young--'After the Gold Rush!' "

A Ballade is a song which, it is implied, tells a story. So for all of your Memorial Day weekend stories, I'm offering this sweet melody, to start, in a piece by Chopin that, make no mistake, still has its share of drama.

This is my personal favorite, of his four Ballades: No. 2, in F Major. It is a single movement piece, so much shorter than the Sonata I posted, a little ways back. In fact, it comes to its end too quickly, when I listen.

Rubenstein does a nice job, on the Ballades.

If you are into voice, you would probably find Kodàly (roughly pronounced, Koe-die), interesting. He was a modern Hungarian composer who became an advocate for teaching music, through singing, to everyone in the country-- and it caught on! He became a nationally revered figure, and his method is now well known, worldwide.

Here are a smattering of some different sounding, short pieces.

This Evening song, is my personal favorite.

Now a change in tone, with the distinctive Hungarian sound, of this traditional dance piece, Tancnota

This one is slow, but "Mountain Nights," ultimately builds to some peaks, in rarified air.

Something that Kodàly method students often do is to record themselves, singing all the parts of a contrapuntal piece. There are only 3 voices in this upbeat, likeable piece, but I've heard the same method used for 8-part canons, if that's your thing.
    Yonder Come Day

    Lastly, a soothing send off:

For those who've been wanting to hear them--
    Mouth Trumpets

    @Gateman_Wen

If the thing you like most about the acapella tubes you listen to, is their using their voices to imitate other instruments, I think that's a cool thing, as well. It's not much, but here are a couple of singers, making trumpet sounds, without either having a trumpet.

Hey members no interest in getting into some of the board games I've posted, I will just bow out

I knew Neil Young used to live with Rick James for a time. I'm just glad Neil didn't get pulled into any felony sex abuse crimes along with him.

Surprisingly, not bad-- since I am not a Rush fan. More of an upbeat feel, than a lot of their work. I started to get hooked though, with the cool vibe of the middle, guitar section.

we are on the same page-I am not a big Rush fan but some of their stuff is really good. and while Lee and Pert get most of the critics' love-(sort of like the police), the guitarist was really really good
