I'm going to be honest and say I haven't read many books in the past decade, unfortunately. Though I have started reading more and more, having started with Milo Yiannopoulos' "Dangerous" when it first came out.

I've read Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" and currently reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo.

Suffice to say, I have a lot of reading ahead of me. Especially looking forward to reading the Dune series.

Dune is truly amazing! Chapter house Dune and Heretics of Dune are also amazing! You do need to read them in order although Messiah is the weakest and disappointing after the power house that is Dune.

Just finished reading this monster -

From Ancient India (c. the Harappan Civilization) to the previous decade.

Now, I'm doing a quick re-read of part of this book (the core revolutionary period from 1789 to 1802):

Both are excellent histories, and Doyle does a good job of looking at the French Revolution from an objective, non-partisan standpoint.

I am currently reading, "The half has never been told" by Edward E. Baptist. It's 420 pages long, so it's not a quick read. But it is very educational.
It describes the role of African slavery in the economic development of the United States. Far from being a sideline in the early economy of the US, slavery was the very foundation of this country's wealth. Mr. Baptist did lots of research while writing this book and it shows.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in American history.

I read Without You this week, a short story by Del James found in his book The Language Of Fear.
This short story also inspired November Rain's music video and this author is of Guns N' Roses fame and, it's a collection of short stories, I have, but only red Without You this week.
I now know how that bride died in the November Rain music video.

Janesville: An American Story by Amy Goldstein

How this once thriving city (when it was controlled by Democrats and by auto workers unions) declined under Reaganomics and the Republican created Great Recession.

Just finished "Robicheaux: You know my name".
James Lee Burke sees things with a clear eye. He writes like a poet at times.
He's also a keen observer of society.

I finished the book on Putin, Robert Sears wrote it coffee table style, sound bytes of information with humorous comments. When I started I wasn't sure whether I like it or not, mainly because it wasn't what I expected. However by the time I finished I have laughed and smiled so many times I realised I did in fact enjoy it.
I think it would probably make a good gift for the person who has everything, however if your are looking for in-depth information on Putin you'd probably prefer one of the other books on him.

Marmite invented by a German and named after a French container was commercialised in the UK in 1902 but no one bought it because it tastes nasty.

Then in 1912 they discovered it was full of vitamins at the outbreak of war government got involved it became a British staple for both civilians and troops that's when people found that if you ate more than a little bit you could be convinced to believe that it was actually nice and we conned the British people into eating sediment from brewing essentially with processing. It also made the UK a lot healthier in general. We went for the long con and so we still kid ourselves to this day. That's why no one else really eats it not even the German's who invented it lol.

    I love Marmite ;)

Vegemite is sh*te which should have been their slogan and it doesn't count.
