So far from info out of Africa the only symptoms are mild and only suffered by the vaccinated.

 

And apparently the first case of the new variant has been found in California. A injected person, who returned from South Africa on November 22, and tested positive on November 29th.

So it's not the un-injected that are the problem. It's injected people who travel to third world countries, thinking that they won't be bringing back an unexpected souvenir.

As for this new variant, I have to agree - time will tell. It is tough having a dangerous and highly contagious new virus pop up, but I for one am so glad that we have this amazing set of scientific and economic tools available for dealing with it.

Unvaccinated people are still going to be creating a problem, especially for themselves and, by extension, the healthcare system and the greater economy. Since it was diagnosed in someone who just returned to the US, who was fully injected, that eliminates laying it at an un-injected person's door.

They returned on November 22, according to the article. They weren't diagnosed until November 29. How many people did they come into contact with in those 8 days? It shoots a few holes in the idea that being injected is protecting anyone but the person who has been injected.

I don't know why you're even trying to make it about whether or not the vaccines contain the spread of the disease to others. The primary purpose of these and all other vaccines is to protect the recipient. Always has been.

Fake News. The first case of the variant in the US was brought in by a fully vaxxed person. Us vaxxed have to remember that we can catch it and spread it and we need to continue to take precautions continue prudent separation. You show me where I said that. I have heard this a.m. that the only case of this new "scare virus" in Kalifornia showed the victim had had two vaccination shots and no booster. I know of no correlation between vaccinated and unvaccinated. This persons symptoms are mild. It doesn't scare me!

Of course they do. You think they have something to benefit from Covid being around? Any and all admins want to see expulsive economic growth, and the only thing that stands in the way is Covid, and it can also hinder their chances of retaining control of the Congress. Economy is good already, but the supply crunch is a problem, and potential shutdowns would be a big problem.

They are not asking people to get vaccinated because it gives them some kind of control over you (because it doesn't), they want this to go away so they can claim credit for the recovery and for "defeating" Covid. GOP knows it, which is one of the reasons they oppose it.

That person evidently had had BOTH of the Moderna vaccination 'jabs', but had not had the booster --
