Do you basically like my Alternative Wall Plus Theory

  1. I suppose it has advantages over a carbon tax.

You're going to need unicorns to do the magical digging, and everyone knows that if mermaids are around you just can't get ANY work out of unicorns.

My idea is for the Alternative Wall Plus to be only for perhaps the first fifty to a hundred miles or so of
the wall at each ocean....... the rest of it could be of a lower cost version such as shown in the images in this article........ that apparently are NOT of a wall between Mexico and Guatemala.

    Border Disorder

A photograph purportedly showing a border wall between Mexico and Guatemala actually pictures a portion of the Israeli West Bank barrier.

Here's my alternative "Wall" idea --

Instead of a 1,550 mile long, fifty-foot high wall, let's use strips of land mines and armed surveillance drones! I've already written many posts about this. It would cost far, far less than the super-expensive, easily defeated wall, cost much less to operate, and stop illegal invasion of this country in its tracks, because, one wrong step by an illegal and -- THERE'S NO MORE TRACKS!

[IMG]. Stay on your side of the (*)(*)(*)(*)ing border until you are approved to come over....

Somebody here on the forum stated that an electronic wall is the least expensive.

Land mines and drones would probably work better than anything else I can think of. Ask Trump for a job getting this idea going. He needs to get off his big Wall kick.

An electronic wall could be the most cost effective.

But California is experiencing a drought so any way to combine desalination of Pacific Ocean water with
stopping illegal immigration is worth looking at.

Would not work. Mexico would steal the water and any fish farmed there would seriously devalue the fish taco.

Transfer what's being dumped in Yucca Mountain over there and goes with all the military firing ranges.
and they could come in the most appropriate way.

AND, fund the police sufficiently to enforce a harsher law against business who hire illegals. You take away the carrot. This illegal immigration problem could have been fixed long ago by doing the common sense thing. That congress has not done this is all the evidence one needs to see they do not want to stop it. The National Chamber of Commerce represents businessmen who want cheap labor, even if illegal. illegal immigration depresses wages in some sectors, and offshoring to slave labor depresses wages, devaluing labor to max out profits. And our gov't has allowed this to happen.

Anything is better than some idiotic, hyperliberal carbon tax. BUT... the best solution for illegal aliens is strips of land mines along the border, and armed surveillance drones. This would cost a mere fraction of a "wall" and be more effective!

Under Natural Law aka Vattel's Law of Nations, Israel meets the definition of being a sovereign nation. They turned a desert into being green in which the Arabs couldn't.

Phoenix. Arizona, it's in the middle of the desert. Before the 1960's back when what is Phoenix, Arizona today the area was mostly citrus groves, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, etc. All of those trees cooled the air.

Eventually all of the citrus groves were replaced with concrete, asphalt and buildings and Phoenix average temperature has increased by 10 or 12 degrees.

What the global warming bigots can't explain, why weather stations around the world that have been around for a hundred years in the or more in exactly the same place and where there has been no development, concrete, asphalt, buildings, cutting down forest, etc, no increase in the temperature.

The drones are alright but the landmines violate modern war crimes laws. Also, when Trump tanks the economy and we have thousands of impoverished Americans escaping to Mexico for jobs they'll be problematic.

I think we should build hundreds of Trump run casinos on the border. Juuugee garish and bankrupt structures which will repel people on both sides for miles around

"This was the dumbest idea..." was the closest answer for me. It makes the proposed border wall seem brilliant. I don't see why we would implement massive desal projects with so many fresh water sources. Fresh water needs the investment here.

My home is on a lake classified as tidal water so the
potential collapse of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet looks
very different to me than it does to somebody living a thousand miles or so inland.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/polit...t-work-fast-enough-address-wais-collapse.html

A carbon tax will NOT work fast enough to address WAIS collapse.
A tax on carbon will take centuries to address the real issues associated with the impending collapse of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet!

    http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2015...antarctic-ice-sheet-raise-sea-levels-3-meters
Just a nudge could collapse West Antarctic Ice Sheet, raise sea levels 3 meters

I live in Miami where sea level rise is a topic, too. This is not an environmental issue as much as an engineering issue for those who are sincerely concerned about the changing sea level.

True..... but along with engineering we do need to discuss reforestation and alternative forms of agriculture such as the example of the Geoff Lawton Permaculture project in Jordan that proved that desert could be turned green again.

At least graphene screens give me hope that this can be a lot more cost effective than a few years ago.....

Oh come on.....everyone knows Dr. Tellis has shown Graphine to be unstable over 100C.

    That is good to know.......
so then we have to make sure that they stay well under 100 C......
and since grapheme is so expensive.... we need to find great ways to recycle it......
    into new screens........

Obviously all that ocean water can have a cooling effect on the screens......

100C is the boiling point of water... so even in North Africa and the Middle East......
above 40 C is a truly hot day......
