Do you basically like my Alternative Wall Plus Theory

  1. I suppose it has advantages over a carbon tax.

instead of a train to nowhere, we should build a tunnel from mexico straight into the san andreas & another to the caldera at yellowstone. post signage at entrance "us dept of social services, this way"

Trees are so simple. I learned how they use CO2 from a campfire way back in grade school. But the elites want complicated answers with big books of charts and graphs to browbeat the people with.

I would like to see us Canadians given an opportunity to figure out a way to pay for President Trump's Wall........
we will likely be the first to hit by the threat of rising ocean levels due to our having the world's highest tides in the Bay of Fundy.

well that disagrees with the Israeli government source, temps have been rising like everywhere else, temps have increased by over 1c since 1950

let's have a look at your list and take a couple minutes to dissect it.

    great objective

a drop in the bucket, insignificant

    aquifers once drained don't recharge

most of the refugees didn't come from the deserts, the deserts were large uninhabited, the major driver of refugees is extreme poverty and political oppression

i'm not an expert but I don't think I'm wrong here in saying the earth magnetic field movement has nothing to do with how much h2o is contained in in trees

I don't think you grasp the scale what your suggesting

mmm no that ain't going to work, take flyover of the US Mexican border with Google Earth and have a look at the terrain...you'll figure it out...

I went to an Environmental Impact Assessment meeting for the LNG plant in Goldboro, Nova Scotia and met a man who claimed to be an expert on the environment. He asked me if I could guess the one nation on earth that had experienced cooling in its climate since 1950 and I guessed Israel..... and he said that I was correct.

I didn't get his name but my guess was based partly on the Carl Cantrell theory (and I can't remember if I had read about Global Dimming and the study in Israel before then or not)?

    https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sun/dimm-nf.html

I think it was before my 2008 campaign that I met that expert. As you can guess I personally suspected that it wasn't merely Global Dimming but also the fact that Israel had planted so many trees and engaged in desalination on such a large scale.

    https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/transcripts/3310_sun.html

That man's opinion was based on data gathered up to 2008 I am not sure what he thinks at this time eleven years later?

My two somewhat humorous submissions for $25 million Virgin Earth Challenge.

A good friend who had read my submission.....
had read an article by Mr. Carl Cantrell and got the two of us in contact.

One thing that I do know is that the possible deliberate usage of the Global Dimming Effect is politically incorrect to write about.... and giving credit to planting trees rather than a Carbon Tax.... is somewhat frowned on as well..... So I personally am not sure what the truth is regarding why Israel experienced what sure looked like climate cooling from 1950 - 2008 or so?!

my info came from an Israeli government source ...so who do want to believe...I'll put my faith in the government sources.

    I could be wrong..........
but Israel only existed since 1948 so of course the level of desalination and tree planting that they can engage in decreases when they are in the middle of a war......... or in the process of recovering from a war.

I could easily have been 1955 or even later before Israel could do a lot of desalination of ocean water.......

but..... I am almost certain that on a per capita basis they do hold the record for most trees planted.

This was a bit of a surprise for me:
Bhutan sets its first-ever Guinness World Records title with Most trees planted in one hour

    But this wasn't:

israel has planted some 240 million trees...BC alone plants on average about 218million trees per year,in 2016 259million, and since it began in the 1930's over 7.5 billion trees, ...and that's not including the other provinces that have much easier tree planting terrain than BC

doing some quick math, only on per capita basis only using BC's tree planting numbers, Israel is not even close. Israel is at 40 trees per person, canada is 197 trees per person and that's not including the other 9 provinces tree planting efforts.

But....... Israel is planting exceptionally tough trees like olive trees in very dry or desert terrain and in British Colombia, Canada, little tiny trees are being planted after massive trees are harvested. It is a totally different overall formula.

The fact that Israel now has more trees than it had fifty years ago is one of the factors in their land receiving 22 percent less sunlight that may tend to be underestimated by people who are biased toward a more high tech method of stabilizing the climate.

OK... so I am a hypocrite... I sure do like this technology too!

Could ONE invention actually be more effective than a CARBON TAX plan?????

I thought Saturdays were Jewish holidays? l have to have a word with my local delicatessen who is always closed Saturdays. Lazy slog.

But getting back to your theory I think that you're on the right track except that fission powered spacecraft don't have exhaust. You'd be better off using the methane from the mermaid soldiers.

Oops I should have clarified I mean methane from mermaid soldiers' poop. Apologies if any mermaid soldiers were ground up and ignited as a result of this oversight.

The US talks some kind of a stupid arse game about climate, but the people of the US absolutely hate trees and never saw one not targeted to be cut down.

Of course there's not much new taxes and political money in simply planting trees.

    Good point!

At least there is some good news.... back around 1985 or so a near death experiencer was shown in about fifty years we would begin to clue and stop cutting down the rainforests.

We were given the story of Johnny Appleseed in grade school. I've always loved trees. They wanted to cut down trees to put in another softball field at the school -- most of the kids and teachers and the principal said no do not cut down the trees. The scowlful superdetendant didn't do it.

There is a fantasy element, however, that being that Trump and Trumpers would ever go along with something that would actually work rather than just waste money.

Thank you for this exceptional post.....

Here is an image that causes me to hope that Mr.Cal Cantrell's theory on reducing Global Warming by turning deserts green might just work?

That is a fascinating map, thank you for showing it to us

Though it doesn't seem to support your main contention, The warmest ares do include some deserts but actually are over mostly non-desert areas, like the Russian steppe and the American/Canadian Great Plain The greatest deserts of all, the Sahara and Arabian, are not within the warmest areas.

I have heard of these schemes before. Besides promising great prosperity to millions now in poverty they are very large and grandiose, that is their charm, but just that aspect should give one pause. The Earth is a whole, and it has evolved to be as it is over billions of years, History seems to warn us that we make great changes in Gaia's face at our peril

    You could be correct....
and I have to admit that an astonishing amount of greening of the deserts is occurring naturally, I assume due to the higher level of atmospheric carbon dioxide that is a large part of the diet of plants.

One of the main points that the graph made to me was that if the Arctic is warming then we will likely see more summers that have significant melting on the land based Greenland Ice Pack such as happened in 2012 and 2019.

Also.. once the heat gets into the atmosphere it moves around rather rapidly with the prevailing winds and the jet stream.

Carbon Dioxide Fertilization Greening Earth, Study Finds
    [IMG]

The Arctic is likely warming due largely to the release of methane from the permafrost. Methane has over seventy times more insulation value than carbon dioxide. (If I remember correctly it could be 85X).
