What, exactly, is socialism? Again this discussion seems necessary.

Capitalism only works when the rich and powerful are not greedy - otherwise it's like monopoly and needs a reset every so often

but to answer your question.... the more you participate, the better your standard of living

How do you have capitalism when there is not enough good jobs?

economic and social tend to be very closely related, obviously!! Capitalism grew out of Christianity. Jesus created the individual and the individual then created capitalism wherein you survive only by offering the best jobs and products possible. Now do you understand?

capitalism prevents greed. If you are greedy your competitor wont be and he will drive you into bankruptcy. Econ 101 class one day one.

More Econ 101: supply equals demand in a capitalist economy. the supply of jobs and bananas equals the demand for them. Do you understand?

Pennsylvania, New York and several other states also control sales of wine and liquor in state controlled stores.

France has the per capita income of Arkansas about our poorest state and they riot in the streets every weekend because the poor and middle class cant make ends meet despite the liberal wet dream level of taxation. Without our inventions they would live at 30% of standard of living. We hold 70% of all recent medical patents. THey would have no health care if they had to invent their own in their backward soviet system.

Does Bernie Sanders Still Think the "American Dream Is More ...

    https://www.peoplespunditdaily.com › news › politics › 2019/02/19 › does...

Feb 19, 2019 - Bernie Sanders touted a now-deleted editorial claiming “the American dream is more apt to be realized” in Venezuela and other nations in South America. ... In 2011, Senator Sanders published an editorial originally appearing on a site called Valley News, which has since been scrubbed.

It's only high on items the government has granted a monopoly on. Medicines that have generic alternatives are affordable. The problem is government. Every. Single. Time.

is there a monopoly granted on Insulin by the government?

of course, end the war on drugs and people could order prescription meds from other countries - people would not have to visit a doctor to get 'permission' to take a medication they know they need

doctors should be there to work for us when we need\want them or their advice, we should not be forced by the government to ask them permission to address our health needs

Strange comment, given its the national health care system in the UK that reduces pharmaceutical costs. Its also why the US will be insistent that the market is liberalized when a free trade agreement is signed. There are economic rents to be had!

How can it reduce costs other than by rationing?

And granting monopoly rights to producers is not liberalizing a market.

Bilateral bargaining ensures reduction of rent (ie inefficient profit)

This isn't a cunning reply. The trade deal would be liberalisation, by definition. It just goes hand in hand with profiteering. You haven't factored in market failure. Econ 101 error!

 The Voice of Ignorance. One obvious example of market failure is externality: the market can't provide an efficient solution when costs and benefits do not attach exclusively to the participants in a transaction.

That's what courts are for. To hold accountable those who violate the property rights of others.

GARBAGE. Courts can only hold individuals to account in cases of tort against other individuals. The effects of externalities are too diffuse for the courts to adjudicate. So you're just wrong. And I notice you ASSUME all rights are property rights. That is a disingenuous assumption that is used to justify and rationalize uncompensated abrogation of people's individual rights to life and liberty by property owners.
