It began with the same ol', same ol' Socialist land appropriation, and has
reached the point of mass starvation, reminiscent of the Soviet Union,
    China and North Korea.
According to CBS the average Venezuelan soldier is on about $6 a month
(this is one third of the average Socialist Cuban salary of $18 a month.)
Maduro is now openly blocking aid to his starving nation. This aid blockade
has been in force for some time but now it is being tested.
But at what point does Maduro lose control of his army if the soldiers are
starving? Are we seeing the End Game now?

Dictators generally take care of the army. I wouldn’t expect them to starve. Look at North Korea - civilians can be dying like flies, but army is doing relatively well.

    Land appropriation? Can you elaborate?

    Agreed, to a point.
The Venezuelan army was bribed with control over the state oil
    industry - PDVSA.
But for the common soldier things are different - his currency is
ruined; pay is pitiful; shops are empty; people starving and children
dying. Seeing foreign aid blocked at the borders, and people begging
them to defend their nation and not their leaders will prove a tipping
    point?

They grabbed the farms from large landowners, and handed it over to the poor, which resulted in a steep decline in farm produce. They should have known better after seeing what happened in Zimbabwe.

Most white farmers in Zimbabwe left voluntarily because of the imf and mounting debt. Were the large farms in VZ under cultivation when they were appropriated? The whole thing truth is important.

If I recall, the "government" started out seizing large holdings
of 1,000 hectares. Then it became the 500 hectare farms, and
it kept reducing the holdings. Like Zimbabwe, and soon South
Africa, this land ceased being fully productive. This became the
    model for industry too.

No, Zimbabweans left because of land redistribution from whites to blacks as per Lancaster House Agreement. In Venezuela, they grabbed the land unless the owners could prove ownership all the way back to the 1800s. After grabbing the land, they handed it out to poor people who didn't know what to do with it, and just like in Zimbabwe, they produced nothing.

Nope.. severe drought and IMF debt drove them out of Zim. The instant, pop version is not enough to understand. The sound bite isn't enough. The morons are fond of saying Zimbabwe was the bread basket is Africa which is also a lie.

It is not a soundbite, it is a historical fact, but you are free to believe anything you want.

People argue taxation is theft, but it is not true, because taxation is paying for services. However, land grabs ARE theft.

One of my best friends from childhood worked in Zim for 30 years. But, not to take his word for it... read the. History of drought in Zimbabwe from 1982. What crops they produced ...all for export and what happened with IMF loan's.

Yes, let's not go with some hear-say from 'best friend', and stick with historical facts instead.

The re-distribution started before 1982, and the British government helped pay the white farmers who were bought out. Later, in 1990, UK stopped the payments, and Zimbabwe started grabbing the land by force without compensation.

Washington is sending aid to Venezuela for political reasons. Maduro has more of a right to block that aid, than the US had to block aid to a Syrian city east of the Euphrates. In Venezuela the aid is stopped since it supports insurrection and an unrecognized rebel leader, while in Syria Washington stopped the government aid to support an insurrection.

In both cases Washington shows a lack of concern for the people in those countries. But then again what else is new.

Well, troops generally have barracks to live in as well as food. So, they good food and shelter take care of, which means they are better off than most of the people in Venezuela.

How can you say that "Washington" does not care about Venezuela? Washington is made up of many
individuals or varying political persuasion. I doubt there would be one single person who doesn't feel
for the dead children of Venezuela - but if you believe there are such people then name them.
Aid has been offered to Venezuela long before the current imbroglio. America gives more aid to other
countries than all other countries combined - just looked it up 41.9 billion dollars.

Venezuela does have friends - these include Cuba, North Korea, Communist China and Russia. What
do all these states have in common?
Oh, and an army of Western Leftist who don't give a rats about the suffering Venezuela, and project
their indifference onto the elected govt of the USA.
