I guess if your mind is stuck in guns are evil mode, then you see nothing else. Sad to be close minded. The facts are guns are a tool, Cars are a tool. 99% of gun owners use that tool correctly, probably 90% of drivers usually use that tool correctly too. You can't blame either tool for the idiots who misuse them. You are not going to stop murders, or drunk drivers or idiots. Any moron can see that Cities like Chicago with the strictest gun laws still have high incidents of gun violence. Any intelligent being knows the over 300 million guns in this country are not going to go away.

If believing you can't shoot someone without a gun or be involved in a car accident without a car is "close-minded" ... hey man ..... run with it. Anyway, if you can shoot someone without a gun then why are you so upset by the prospect of eliminating them? You'll still be able to shoot to your heart's content.

I understand. You are scared. Irrational fear is a terrible thing for the mentally unbalanced. However, treatment is available. You don't need to spend your life hiding from the 100 million or so gun owners. Your chances of getting run over crossing the street is much greater. If you go to London watch out for knives too.

I said this earlier but I think you missed it so I'll say it again.
    It works like this:

1). Acknowledge a problem. GUN VIOLENCE.
2). Determine whether it is acceptable. OBVIOUSLY NOT.
3). Find the "end all" and obvious solution. NO MORE GUNS.
4). Is the removal of all guns possible/feasible? THAT'S THE QUESTION WE ALL WANT to be ANSWERED.
5). If yes, when and how to begin. ALL AT ONCE/SYSTEMATICALLY.
6a). If not what is an alternative/compromise? REMOVE SOME GUNS/CONTROL WHO MAY OWN THEM AND WHO NOT/MORE GUNS.
6b). Will any of the suggested compromises eliminate the problem in point 1? If not, then revisit point 2.

That is the way sensible and responsible people go about problem-solving. The OP question is, "What is the solution to mass shootings in America?" You can go either way:

It is not the tools used in violent activities that are the source of the problem, it is the human using them.

Did making pot, crack, and other drugs illegal eliminate them from being used or make them less available?

Americans with guns at any age.
You forgot to mention 'murder'. Do you even know the difference between drugs and guns? What about the difference between suicide and homicide? I seriously don't think that you know the difference which makes it impossible for you to understand the subject. Read post "454 again. But apply yourself fully this time.

Banning guns will not stop mass killings.

Your question was "Do you give matches to children?"
I responded asking "Children at what age?"
I have no problem with anyone having a gun, only with the very few who put them to misuse.

I found no need to mention 'murder', but since you bring it up people are murdered with guns, knifes, blunt objects, ropes, clothing, hands, drugs, etc. Both suicides and homicides can be committed with the same things.
Violence comes in many forms, and from past experience I've found a gun the most effective means of preventing and/or ending violence.

Post #454 begins initially flawed, try starting with the following:
1.) Acknowledge 'THE' problem. VIOLENT PEOPLE WHO COMMIT VIOLENT ACTS

As the owner of a very large number of firearms, not a single one of them has committed a criminal act under my ownership.

I agree but nobody wants to take on parental responsibility so if people would rater take on the tools of murders instead of taking on the way the kids are raised then why shouldn't they want to remove other reasons kids may go wrong.

Fixing Chicago will not be possible without changing the people who govern that city and the hand out attitude of the people living there. The gang attitude is just an extension of the hand out attitude of the people, they join gangs to just take what they want.

There is no solution - this is a price we need to pay for the right to bear arms, the same as the price for driving cars are the accidents.
I support the right to bear arms. Why? I lived in a communist country and I hope armed citizens gives some protection against a dictatorship. I repeat - I hope.

Just split the country up already.
Let those who love mass shootings live together under their own laws and the others be free.
    Best of both worlds.

The "out of my cold dead hands" brigade, who routinely threaten them if they can't get their own political way.

2nd Amendment Sam, for whom, his ability to do a mass shooting is a civil right worth mass shooting for.

Just split the country. Set up borders.
No need to enforce any one lifestyle on people who don't want it.
Instead of giving Sam his civil war... just give him his own country peacefully.

The bottom line is; Americans with guns = Murder mayhem. Here's just about all you need to know:
    GUNS2.jpg

Are they as instrumental in murder as guns? No, I didn't think so.
    Next question, please.

    The U.S. population in 2016 was 323,400,000
From what I found, there were a total of 17,250 reported murder and non-negligent manslaughter cases in the U.S. in 2016, by any method including guns.
That would be about 5.33 deaths per 100,000
    Murders by any means 2016:
    D.C., population of 684,336, a total of 136 murders, or about 19.9 per 100,000
California, population 39,300,000, a total of 1,930 murders or about 4.9 per 100,000
Texas, population 27,900,000, a total of 1,459 murders or about 5.2 per 100,000
Illinois, population 12,840,000, a total of 941 murders or about 7.3 per 100,000

And your figures 10.54 per 100,000 would result in about 34,086 deaths, all by guns?

Super gun controlled London has a murder rate on par with New York city (which also has gun control but not as strong as theirs as it is easier to get a gun in there). Now they're talking knife control.

Some A.H. in Canada just ran over and killed 10 people.

The problem isn't guns. It is bad and violent people

Do you understand what cause and effect is? Drugs are the reason gang bangers protect their turf. If not for drugs, a large number of the gun murders in this country would not occur.

    Absolutely! :sun:
CAUSE: You put mortar between bricks and stick them together. EFFECT: A wall or a house is created.

CAUSE: You pull the trigger of a loaded gun. EFFECT: Something or someone gets
    destroyed.
