Me: No. Soleimani was a piece of ****. But as many conservatives have pointed out, including Tucker Carlson and Rand Paul, assassinating Soleimani has not made us safer. To the contrary....

I don't suppose that you have a link to any of the incidents involving the above described exchanges you have had on here or anywhere else with a written record? Or do we simply have to take your word for it?

It's pretty much the same arguing with a Trumper about... anything. They have taken their "Strawman logic" to a level from which there is no return.

On the other hand... what can we expect? What else could they do when their beloved idol does nothing but commit one stupidity after another? They know it. And their only alternative would be to return to the real world. But after so much time in La-La Land, they would be lost.

You gave me two threads. I read the first page on each. I did not see anything remotely like the description in the OP, much less was the same conversation had with every poster. What a shock. Did you honestly think your threads would suffice?....of course not. Your reply wasnt intended to be serious. It was intended to be smarmy. What a shock.

He hates Trump so much he would rather have the terrorist alive and planning activities that kill Americans and other innocent civilians. If Obama had authorized this attack, it would be perfectly fine. Politics clouds judgement and reasonable thought.

At what point do you decide enough is enough. He is responsible for the death of many US citizens and would have continued to be responsible for more US deaths. The counter argument is that if he doesn't do it some other Iranian madman will. That argument could be used for about anything and at some point you draw the line.
The other counter argument is that they will seek revenge with even more casualties. That is similar to giving into a bully because if you don't, he will be beat the crap out of you. That attitude almost never works because he is going to keep bullying you until you somehow stop him.

I cringed when he was killed. However, in all good conscience, I cannot say it was the wrong thing to do in the long run.

Gosh. It sounded like you wrote... "orangeman bad"... "did something that made orangeman bad more bad"...

Cause that's about the depth of this post. We can't always know the end results of what happens when an international terrorist is killed. But, it sure seemed to excite the O'man base when his press secretary read off the names of his drone victims...

So, why start questioning the tactic of taking out the leadership of the terrorism world just now?

When Obama targeted Gaddaffi’s motorcade, it got stopped by a hellfire missile, and Gaddaffi, Libya’s head of state, was quickly assassinated.

“We came, we saw, and he died. Hahahaha!” - Hillary Clinton

Not a peep of descent from the Democrats ....

    Again, too soon to tell.
If this escalates into full blown war it would be difficult to suggest the consequences were good.

That would be surprising if you are not one of the Trump supporters referenced on the OP. Otherwise... I wouldn't expect you to see it. Because that's exactly the point of the OP.

Top generals in states like China and Russia have been engaged in a persistent campaign to undermine US and allied interests and they have been employing methods that fall well short of conventional military conflict. Should the US start 'taking out' generals from Russia, China and N. Korea?

Just on the first page of this thread you can see two examples (at least.... haven't had the patience to read them all)

The point of the OP was to fabricate a conversation that he or you have yet to produce anything even remotely resembling that conversation.

But, you forgot the last resort of the argument:

Taking out a military general is not an appropriate action. Killing Soelimani didn't make America safer as Pompeo claims.

One month ago we saw Iraqis on the streets protesting against Iran. That was strategically exactly where we wanted to be. A couple of weeks ago we saw Iranians on the street protesting against their own government. That's strategically where we wanted to be.

Trump pulled a small number of US troops out of Syria because he was arguing that he had to get out of the Middle East (campaign promise). Killing Soelimani was an action he took that almost requires us to keep troops in the Middle East just to defend our current outposts. Then Trump turns around and threatens to sanction the Iraqis if they do what he says he wants to do, which of course is to withdraw. There's just no connections between Trump's tactical actions, the explanation of those tactical actions and what Trump claims are our strategic goals.

There's no strategy that has been fully thought out by assassinating a general.

Anything after ‘but’ can be ignored.

    Iran before his death:

    Death to America!

    Iran after his death:

    Death to America!

Nothing has changed other than democrats now siding with Iran.
