    Movies, tv programs, documentaries, etc?

I am trying to get interested in Black Mirror but only watched 2 episodes. I am not too impressed so far.

Finished watching Godless about an hour ago. I liked that one.

Black Mirror is amazing! I've watched every episode at least twice.

It is some of the best science fiction I've seen on TV.

Season 1 Ep 1 is harsh! Ack!!!

The shows on mainstream TV and the movies in theaters are all crap these days, so Netflix and Amazon don't have to try too hard.

I think there's going to be a growing trend of people going back and watching the old classics.

So far I've only watched a few minutes of that; it is very dark.

Do you get Analog sf mag? I used to read it years ago and just decided to re-up my subscription. They also had a good deal on their website--18 previously issued mags for under $13; came to about $18 with shipping. A great deal! (I have a surgical procedure coming up so I thought it would be a great time to have an unlimited SF world to inhabit.)

    Also, Hunt for Red October
seems to be on most of the streaming channels right now; I've started watching that again...

It can be but not exclusively so. The first episode was the darkest. What made it so disturbing is that it could happen.

It is a wonderful play on the potential effects of technology that is or could be just around the corner - a Twilight Zone of soon-to-be-technology.

Imagine a device that allows you to feel what others feel. You can experience the male and female orgasm simultaneously! Haha, I loved that!

I've only watched two episodes of Black Mirror but it seems a fairly high quality anthology series. I'm also currently watching Season two of Stranger Things.

You should really consider canceling your Netflix account in light of their new propaganda and Soros affiliation.

Nah...I recall your thread on the cuckolding Netflix promo and frankly, it was so over the top and on the nose, I find it hard to believe that it was the least bit influential as propaganda. If anything, the over-the-top nature of it would be more likely to have the opposite effect. What's the ratio of likes to dislikes on that video again? Have you considered that it may be sending the opposite message of what you're thinking?

Also, Netflix is an aggregate TV and Movie streaming site, so if you like TV & Movies, it's a far more affordable option than cable. If you regard all TV and Movies as propaganda, then you shouldn't even have a television. But judging Netflix based on original content, how is it different from any other TV channel or Movie Channel?

I really liked The OA. It's very strange but fun.

A few other favorites have been Jericho, Carnivale, Orange is the New Black, Californication [that was Netflix I think...?]

Edit: I guess Carnivale was originally HBO. But it was superb nonetheless.

I'm one episode away from finishing up Travellers. I'm not the binge watcher type, but I've actually binged this show. I'm a bit wistful that once I see the final episode of season 2 I won't see another new episode for a year. Assuming of course they have a season 3. Hope they do.

I can't wait for "Altered Carbon" to start on Friday... sounds like a sci fi series right up my alley.

What I like about sci fi is that even if the story ends up being predictable there are always elements within the movie/show that surprise you

Just finished Black Mirror, a couple of really good episodes, some dark, some just had weird endings. Amazon has a similar Electric Dreams. It's British so you have to get use to their slang.

I enjoy The Office and Parks and Recreation. Black Mirror is cool because each episode is a short story that has nothing to do with the previous story (with the exception of one episode). You can watch them in any order. Different characters, countries..etc. Some are weird and dark, others are weird yet happy.

Personally speaking..I have had enough of politics. I'll be damned if they try to invade my entertainment methods and therefore will NOT cancel my Netflix. Soros can kiss my hiney as I munch popcorn watching shows.

    Thx for your wentworth suggestion
We would not have tried it without your advice
Since at first glance it seemed only an obvious rip off of orange is the new black
What a surprise that it is BETTER
There is some very good writing, and acting
And, wow, the governor is an unbelievably sinister villain

You raise a few interesting points

    Propaganda...
    If you consume it
    Then believe it
    Then reproduce and spread it....
then it is not propaganda for you
.... and THAT is the most effective propaganda, isn’t it!

IMO, much of what you might call propaganda has subtextually entered the mainstream
And so media producerers are, at this point, not intentionally spreading propaganda
The producers are now simply fulfilling what has morphed into the public appetite

As far as Netflix is concerned
One business advantage they have IS that it is feasible for them to serve niche markets
In a way that is not feasible for MSM
But, never the less, to the extent that propagandistic ideas have become mainstream
Media producers will naturally incorporate such ideas into their product

"The producers are now simply fulfilling what has morphed into the public appetite."

There it is. Just as surely as Mexican and Columbian cartels serve the american public's desire for drugs. Hey I've got it, let's blame them so we don't have to take on any responsibility.
