What new gun should I buy?

I'm getting a new firearm. Can't really decide what I should get though. I do fully intend to do it by private to private sale though, because I know how much liberals hate that and it warms my dark little soul.
Hence I'll not be getting something tailor made or likely brand new.
Ideally I'd like a robust and practically useful arm that I might pass down in 20 years or so.

Since I won't be able to pick and choose, I'm taking a sort of informal poll on things to be on the look out for. I've got about a grand saved for this express purpose, though by no means is it required to blow it all in one place.
Some notes to head off questions and inform the respondent:
I've got 1 of each that you'd need already. This is just adding to the collection.
I've got room in the gun safe for pistols or long guns.
I've got access to 3 different ranges (2 indoor. 1 outdoor, decent distance but nothing to write home about) and live in a suburban neighborhood.

I'm in Texas, so no silly mag restrictions to worry about and private to privates are perfectly legal so long as they are in furtherance of the "hobby" of firearm ownership only and not as a business. Let me know what y'all think

What do you already have, specifically? What are your hunting interests (if any)?

Personally, my next gun will either be a stainless .357 or .41 magnum revolver, a Glock 20 or an AR of some sort.

I've had NICS checks run for a 9mm new model Jericho (looking to trade this one out for an older model with the decocker. Personal preference thing. 9 because my fiance's gun is in 9mm and I'm not made of money), and an AKM in 7.62x39.
I inherited a nice 870 in 12gauge (birds) and a nice Remington 7400 with a decent scope (deer rifle).
I've picked up other firearms at private sales but its no fun talking about those ;)
I'm going feral hog hunting for the bachelor party (pancreatitis means I don't drink anymore so I figured why not hunting) but I was thinking I'd use the AK for that. No limit on hogs in Texas, they're destructive vermin and an invasive species.

I was thinking about a new carry gun, that full size jericho ain't exactly comfy to wear (its steel not polymer as well). But that I would really prefer brand new since I might be betting my life or others on it. The original Jericho comes in decocker variant with kits for 9mm and .41 magnum on the same frame :)

Glock 17 gen4. Absolutely reliable and indestuctible with normal usage and care.

Compare fit and feel to the S&W M&P 2.0 and the CZ P10c if you're looking for a striker fired 9mm in that size.

    America's Rifle.

I love my shield, but a couple year old Glock will alwaya be my suggestion for someone looking for a used pistol.

Ah ok so people will be looking to trade in the old to cash up for the new. I'll just have to avoid the ones with grip tape all over the handle and the seller who "knows what he has" :) What would you be willing to spend to pick up a used gen 4 for?

I kind of had my eye on this build
Just for the sheer **** you factor you understand, I realize a 9mm isn't the best carbine round. (.45 being preferred as starting sub sonic). Though since I've already got a ton of 9mm on hand for my jericho and my fiance's shield it would save me some scratch.

The dolos barrel that makes it work isn't prohibitively expensive (like 170) and sig braces are around at cost more than ever since the ATF stopped riding the stick so hard.

I just want to send a video of it to my gun grabby crazed aunt and her husband the "journalist" to watch him **** his pants.

My fiance has an M&P shield and she loves it. I enjoy it but it's a bit small for my taste grip wise. I prefer a full size grip so I can maintain control of the weapon on the draw and while shooting without worrying too much about my hands.

    With your budget,
    Semi auto = Sig P226, P229, or M11A1
Revolver = S&W 686 either 6 or seven shot. Performance Center model if that option presents itself. Barrel length is up to you.

You can't go wrong with a Glock. They make them in different sizes, from the full-size Glock 17 to the smallest, a Glock 43. There are two sizes in between those two.

Reliable, not picky about ammunition, rugged, simple parts replacement if that's ever needed (not likely unless you shoot a lot).

Saiga .308 for a versatile, reliable rifle

.357mag revolver for carry or glock if you want an auto for carry

Well, not only do they make them in different sizes in 9mm (which you talk about above), you can also get them in different calibers and sizes. You can get 4 variations of the Glock in 10mm, .45 ACP, 5 in .40, 3 in .380, 3 in .357 SIG, and 3 in.45 GAP.

G30 or G36 would be your best bet.

9mm semi-auto handgun is the most versatile and common means of self-defense plus something to "pass down". That said, most women that I've known prefer revolvers; they don't have to work the slide or be familiar with how to clear a jam. It's easy to load, unload and shoot. The bad news on revolvers is, for those same reasons, they're more dangerous with kids around.

If a revolver, a .357/.38 double action with a four inch barrel would be the way I'd go.

You'd have a better selection of choices at gun show or pawn shop.

Buy a big ass H&H, Weatherby magnum, elephant gun, to splatter those hogs with, just for fun and because why not..
What better excuse to shoot a monster?

It sounds like a hoot to me to shoot em with a cannon!!
Everything you shoot would explode like a tannerite target..

    Have some fun, be different..
All of your friends will be talking about the hogs you blasted right in half with your 475 H&H magnum, not so much about just another AR-10..

I wouldn't mind a decent wheel gun. That IS missing from my collection. How much would you expect to find one for at a show?

Yeah the Conroe show is this weekend, that's where I'm planning to make a purchase

Not knowing your entire inventory, I can't really make a suggestion on what YOU should buy. I myself have just about every type of firearm, except a single action revolver. I've had an itch to get one in 357 mag, or 45LC, with moon clips to shoot .45 ACP. I'm torn though between polished, with Ivory grips, or case hardening with traditional wood grips. Really like the Vaquero, or the 1873 cattlemans.
