What should we expect Presidents to do?

    For me, the answer is: not very much. Sign sensible legislation, propose conservative budgets, enforce the law (especially including immigration law), protect the border, and attend banquets without spilling soup on the German ambassador. But abohe all, stay off my back.

    Too many of us want the President to empathize with the sick, to regulate health care, to be the world's policeman, to eliminate racism, to equalize us, to redistribute income, to level playing fields, in short, to engage in social engineering. That's too much to lay on any one person, and it's dangerous to entrust that much authority over our lives to any branch of government.

    The president doesn't actually have much power. Most of the power resides with the legislature. As it should.

    Lead the govt in serving The People.

    As opposed to trying to lead The People, which is what I think a lot of folks are trying to get...

    Via Executive Orders Dirty Donald has tried to make sure you are drinking dirtier water and breathing dirtier air and driving more polluting less fuel efficient vehicles.

    Agreed that one man can't do all those things. That's why you have various subordinates who are capable and qualified to handle different responsibilities and not just yes men and your children who aren't capable of doing anything other than kissing your ass.

    The president should:

    Defend the country
    Deal and treat with other countries
    Maintain a stable currency
    Resolve interstate disputes

    Help from the departments of defense, homeland security, state, treasury and justice. Everything else is beyond an appropriate role for federal government and its president. What a mess we have created!

    Nominate officials, judges and ambassadors
    Sign or veto bills
    Grant pardons and reprieves
    Set a moral, ethical, legal and cultural tone when representing our country.

    If you have your own well, you can have it tested. Ask the tester if Trump made your well water dirty.

    If you are on city water, ask your officials if they allow your water to get dirty. I doubt they will admit it to you. Ask them if Trump runs them. They will say no Trump does not.
