Might make right. The only fact remaining is the fact that global superpower can't act as policemen against China

In this nuclear age of ours, it is absolutely dangerous and wrong for anybody in the government or the military think that "might make right". War has an unpredictable momentum of its own. A border skirmish can easily lead to a nuclear war which means the end of mankind.

First of all, there are no fact and logic in your statement.

    Let's ask two questions.

    1. Who appoints the US as global policeman?

Ans: No, the post is self-appointed. It's just like a local thug appointing himself as the "protector" for all the hawkers in a village market. Each hawker has to pay a price in the form of “protection money” to the self-appointed “protector” for his service to "protect" him from other thugs. If a hawker refuses to pay the "protection money", he would risk having trouble in doing his business because the thug would get his men to teach him a lesson by disrupting his business.

That is the example of "policing" by a local thug on the village level. In the case of international level, let's take the example of Pax Romana (or Pax Augusta) that established "peace" and "social order" for the Roman Empire in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD.

Please bear in mind that nobody appointed Rome to be the "international policeman" at that time. Pax Romana was established by Caesar Augustus for the sole interest of Rome. Other examples of pax (which means "peace" in Latin) are the Pax Britannica of the British Empire and the Pax Mongolica of the Mongol Empire. Just like the "peace" established by the local thug in the village market, we could also regard the ruling country that established "peace" to safeguard its empire as "international thug" instead of “international policeman”.

In this era, we have the Pax Americana established by the American Empire. Again, the post is self-appointed. On many occasions in its history, the US finds itself in a dilemma and "can't act as the policeman" even though it is supposed to be the sole global superpower after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, e.g. in dealing with North Korea's sabre rattling and nuclear programme, Iran's nuclear programme, the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan, the Palestinian problem, the Somali piracy, etc. Hence, it is not surprising that some US officials at times deny, even show displeasure, that the US is the "international policeman" of today.

    2. Is the US global policeman fair in administering justice?

Ans: Not at all, just like the Romans, the British and the Mongols of their empires, the US is acting on its own interest. Taking the example of post-war Europe, the US has done its best to eliminate all traces of Nazism in Germany. However, in the case of post-war East Asia, it seems that Uncle Sam intentionally left behind some unresolved territorial disputes and remnants of Japanese imperialism with the purpose of dealing with a future rising China and dividing East Asia. Thus it can be said that the US indirectly bears a large responsibility for the existing territorial rows between Japan and its two Asian neighbours, Korea and China.
