Mine was horrible. 70% of the school kids hated me, 20% thought I am weird and 10% didnt know who I was.

    I also almost got expelled.

I isolated myself to sport activities and study only...

And at the end, I didnt get the grades I wanted.

I hated everything and everyone and ignored all party-invitations. I had some friends in school whom I still have contact with and see every now and then, but despite being nice people, they bore the heck out of me.

I have always been a bit weird and pessimistic.

Rarely attended High School but graduated due to a "Friend" in the office. Spent most of the time getting stoned and singing in Roxauf (heavy metal band) until graduating and moving from San Diego to Yosemite Nat'l Park. Many friends, fans, and "Close Friends" as well as a healthy load of stupidity.

I moved around too much to have a social life. In school or any other time.

Does Not Compute.I repeat ... Does Not Compute.
I went to a Prep school run by the Holy Cross Brothers.
You had what was known as Extra-curricular activities.
I don't know from what Social Life you are referring.
Debutantes in High School have Social Lives.Their
parents are generally wealthy and live in Big Cities where the
newspapers have Social registers and columns.

Had a new girlfriend each year.

    Reba in freshman year.

    Karen in sophomore year.

    Carole in junior year.

    Melanie in senior year.

Varsity letters in football on defense, wrestling, and track.

#1 out of 300 at graduation.

College was nothing like it though. Barely passed and graduated.

Grad school was better, more like high school.

I went from a Catholic School, where the worst thing that ever happened was a girl got caught smoking a cigarette once, to a gang banger city school just next to Compton, where forced busing provided free transportation for gangs to expand their drug business. I was going to school with not only the Crips and the Bloods, but also with a gang comprised of Central Americans that came to be known as MS13. School, and just the walk to school, was scary stuff. A random encounter with the wrong gang at the wrong time could be lethal. So I pretty much decided to get drunk and go to the beach. I managed to scam the attendance system for most of a year before a math teacher called my mother directly. "Did you know your son has missed over 40 days this semester?". Ironically, I was still passing all of my classes. I really have no idea how. And boy did that hurt when I got to college. I had a lot of ground to make up - esp in math!

When my parents realized what was happening, we moved North. Within six months I was on the Dean's list. My dad always forced me to take a pre-college curriculum even though I didn'r really want to go to college. This led me to a physics class and a computer science class, where I met a teacher [both classes] who was to become my best friend for the next 30 years. In spite of my lack of interest in organized academia, I had started reading my dad's college physics books around age 12; for my first science fair project. And I was fascinated with computer programming. Within a semester I was in love with both physics and computer programming. And my destiny in physics was set.

I was always able to cross social lines, part nerd, part jock, surfer and a partier. I played football during my sophomore year. I could hang out with pretty much any crowd and do okay. But all in all I always had a few close friends and spent most of my time with them. I was really tight with one friend through high school and for many years after. I met him in Los Angeles and we were best friends almost immediately. Then he moved North. When my parents started talking about moving, they were interested where my buddy had moved. And we ended up living less than a mile apart again!

I also hung out with a guy and his buddies, who were all in their mid twenties. They called me "the kid" but I was part of the group. And I quickly learned that I had a touch for giving massages with the women in the group. That was fun but my buddies weren't always too thrilled.

I wasn't technically popular but always did okay with the girls. During my sophomore year, I had a nice Honda 750 for a time, which quickly got me a model as a girlfriend for awhile. I took out my best friends sister and he took out mine. LOL! I also slept with my boss's wife... with his knowledge... long story. She was in her thirties. So that was interesting. I had a few other girlfriends. So I did okay and had a few interesting experiences. Having a bunch of older friends definitely has benefits at that age.

I was the vocalist for a pretty popular Heavy Metal band so did not spend much time actually being in school. Had may friends (none from school) and did many things of borderline badness.

When do you finish high school?

If you are the age you say you are, they didn't have Heavy Metal Bands yet. But okay, keep up the charade.

Interesting...so the forums #1 fantasy novel producer decides to exchange his "Secret Life" for becoming a critic of things he has no idea about? Heavy metal has been round for at least 60 years and we started the year Iron Maiden made it Awesome, In fact killers was song 2 in our first real set (braking the law was first).

    I befriended the son of a Thai Bride who moved to London from Bangkok, a very camp Somalian Muslim whose family came to Britain as refugees, a boy who lived in my neighbourhood from Turkey who loved his football and supported Galatasaray, this camp but not as camp but still camp half white half black boy with a Chinese-Jamaican stepfather and so had a Chinese last name and this boy who used to be good at getting adult magazines from Sri Lanka;
    Then there was this other white boy who none of my other friends liked from Tulse Hill and this white girl who used to talk to me and the white boy but knew me and remembered me from my first secondary school before I transferred in my second year and also lived in my neighbourhood which was the same neighbourhood as that first school I went to but didn't like;
She asked me out, I said no, then I think the other white boy who was in my social circles and also got into guitar but; we became rivals at it; liked her but then she and my camp Somalian friend faked some relationship to keep face or something.
That was my little click. Also, there was this tall looking East African kid who didn't speak much English but rolled with us at school and was like, in mannerism and height, The Terminator, I can't remember his name but I remember it was a Muslim name.
    This was 1999 - 2003
Wished I was brave enough to ask out the girls I liked.
When I think of school though, I feel blessed for growing up and coming of age in.

We spoke to everybody though in our year, and school, like evryone, from UK black, white Asian.
    Those were the good times.
You know, before the race wars between the Kosovon Refugees and the Jamaicans... Racist war torn children, South London school with mostly black kids... Yeah. School was interesting.
Not every Kosovon was racist, my heart went out to this sometimes sad sweet Kosovon girl.
Still, South London Comprehensive and all of that.
    This wasn't a race war.
My school was a gang banger one though.

The Stop And Search Policy enforce back then under the labour goverment didn't help much.
    This was the school

This was me in school uniform.
and this was me after I left school, the first job I walked into was this photo shoot.
and this was staged and the only people I knew there was the shop owner on the left and my father saw this and then shared with me that he knew the the Mayor of Croydon from town council and that they all knew each other at the council and even went as far as to show me his house, even though I lived with my father, I did my own thing and I think my father was a little surprised.

I went to college when I made it to highschool, only went the first 9 weeks of my freshman year and after that I went to college full time until I graduated highschool. When I graduated highschool I walked away with more than just a highschool degree, I also earned my associates degree and was nearly finished with my Bachelor as well.

Didn’t have a lot of friends in real life, when I graduated I went into the professional gaming scene for a bit, ended up earning “Professional” Status in two major games (Counter Strike: GO, and Call of Duty Black Ops 2/Call of Duty Ghost)

So I guess I really didn’t have a highschool social life?

And then at the other end of the spectrum there was Melanie:

"If my parents find out about this they will murder you !!"

With 25,000 in the school, I was like a lost fish in a big ocean at college.

    So I hated college.

But grad school was a smaller school and much better.

Still got lost there, but grad school was a much better experience.

That's what happens to my hair too whenever I play tennis.

The Brothers think I am related to them at those moments.

Hey, I have my own Melanie and Karen; what are the odds?
Also, the sistas seem to think I'm part black even though I'm not; Guess that's a compliment since that's how I choose to take it.

Or... I could just be... Me.
Back then I was as sober as 1980s Guns N' Roses with a head that looked like I came from The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
    Was fun.
Then later I calmed down and left Croydon to explore Soho.
    That, was also fun.

I keep my hair on the sides really short.

Which reminds me that I need to take a bath then cut it again. I cut my own.

On top I keep it long like a Mohawk.

With my boonie hat on I look like an Army lifer.

With it off I look like a white supremacist radical.

I grew my hair from 2002 to the day Obama got elected and thought 'screw it, short back and sides seems to be the way forward'.
