If China invades Vietnam and success,
Will the whole South East Asia fall?
I look at the map and realize that Vietnam is the door for China to invade SEA

I don't think China plans to invade anybody!

It is certainly rattling its swords to make everybody look to them as the superpower in Asia. It is definitely claiming territory disputed by other nations.

    But, to go beyond that?

I don't think so. It has enough trouble feeding its own peoples. Expanding to other territories would just increase domestic problems it has.

If China is to invade any country it will be North Korea when its Dear Nutty Leader does something stupid to draw other nations in the area to react. :salute:

China's dispute with Vietnam centers on small uninhabited islands in the South China Sea, it is not going to make a total invasion of Vietnam because of that. though naval conflict is possible, even probable.

The fact is that China look like the big boogy man in these dispute but any objective and unbiased analysis would reveal that their opponents are just as guilty if not more so of the same fallacy. The biggest core issue here is that during WW2, Japan controlled all of these islands and it gave the administrative region to Taiwan and Hainan island ( China), thus when the war ended the allies matter of factly turned over the administration claim based on that, of course the problem is that China (the Republic of China) soon fell to the Communist, and the claim became murky, though essentially even today both Taiwan and China claim all of the Islands. that's one of the odd places where they are totally working together.

I should note that for example, the Southern most Spratley Islands (which is really the only serious island group that China is claiming that's outside of it's EEZ. or the EEZ of pretty much all it's claimants), the US did openly note that , during the Philippine independence in 1946, that the original Spainish - US treaty after the Spanish American war did Specifically say that those islands were NOT included in the Phillipines, but nowadays Manilla make that claim anyway.

Like wise, when the Northern Vietnam government were fighting the war, they did actually make an open proclamation to abandon the Paracel / Spartley claim to China in exchange for aid, so they're retracting from that right now. (ironically, those claims were made by the French, and upheld by the South.)

So it is not hard to see that in reality, China has a pretty reasonable argument, the American support against China on this matter also contradict their own previous stance, so this is all just realpolitik as usual, the "bad" guys in the story might actually have the real argument.

I think the same was thought about the Vietcong.
    After America's defeat, nothing happened.

Why to invade when you can simply lease the ports?

Land is leased to those paying the best and there is nothing stopping them from hosting bases from 30 different countries.

Cotsco has rented the cargo part of Piraeus port ( the city i live) , they didn't invade it.

No, not really, or else they wouldn't have lended the port to the Soviets for 20+ years .

Lending of ports in this sort of situation obviously carries strong political calculation.

Not really, in the case of my city's port Cotsco just paid more than a company from the Emirates .
