if a child needs medical care the parent can't afford and is denied because they played a sport, it's cruel....
how about we tax football tickets a couple of hundred percent and that way the fans can pay for their health care and the anti-football government propaganda like we did with cigarettes
trying to use the government to prevent people from getting medical care they need because they played a risky sport as a child, would be a cruel use of the power of our government
agree, same with cigarettes, now you get my point - taxing things hundreds of percent the cost of the original thing cause you don't like it, is wrong
Well, if that was indeed the direction you were going, okay by me. But: Is a different topic altogether. No one is advocating that government forcibly prevent anyone from getting medical care. What people are saying is that if a person participates in dangerous behavior, they, their family, or charity can pay the bills - in lieu of forced payment of the bill by the taxpayer.
your money is not being used, your money is being used for the republicans 20 year wars, they're using my taxes for helping children that need medical care
it was a reply to the posters use of the word I replied too, I should have added a question mark behind it to make it clearer other poster said "Now... is THAT "tyranny"...?" I replied "now is that tyranny..." should have said "now is that tyranny?..." better now?
glad we agree on the first part the second they are saying people should lose coverage for doing risky things like playing football, they would have had them had they not played sugar plays a big role in cancer and many other metabolic diseases, should we ban people from health care if they eat sugar? we live in a me me me society now, and the people screaming we should not help poor sick people, would be the first demanding help if they were sick and needed help
No one is talking about banning people from healthcare. The thread was about vaping bans. Some of us are against that type of government overreach. I also would be okay with legalizing drugs. But with personal freedom comes personal responsibility. If someone chooses to make themselves sick by vaping some crap from unknown origins, or if a person chooses to overdose on heroin, they can pay for their own health care. So, no one is saying to ban anyone from healthcare - just saying that the taxpayer should not be forced to pay for the consequences of people's poor decisions. That a person is born in the United States does not place any obligation on me to pay for her health care. Everyone should pay for their own/their families' health care regardless of what they are doing. And if they can't do that, then charity will help them to the extent that others are willing to donate. Surely you would be willing to donate a large part of your earnings so others can have health care?
Or you have socialised medicine across the board and try to educate people not to do the things which harm their health. That way healthcare is no longer just for those who can afford it. See Europe for how to do it at half the cost of US healthcare. Insurance companies are just parasites taking a cut every time someone receives care otherwise. If the rich want to pay extra for a single room, better food and shorter waiting lists for non-life-threatening ailments like in the UK that's up to them. Nobody is bankrupted for becoming ill like in the US.
I hope you never get ill then. Especially with a long term illness that your insurance company refuses to cover.
For vaping patients have standing orders for the ambulance to drive slow 60 miles first on the way to the ER.
Thank you, and I wish the same for you. Of course, my insurance provider is obligated to pay for long term stuff, they can't just arbitrarily deny it.
Would your premiums increase? What would happen if you could no longer work? Insurance is not the answer for everyone.
