I'm very unsatisfied with Trump but it has more to do with his mouth than his policies.

Here is what a Democrat would have to do to get my vote.

    1. Support the second ammendment by not pursuing any more gun control.

    2. Stop pursuing LGBTQ rights over religious rights of people and businesses.

    3. Vow not to nominate radical leftist judges.

    4. Vow not to raise any taxes on anyone.

    5. Not mess with the constitution including the electoral college.

Thats a good start. What would get you to switch?

So a Democrat would not get your vote. Me too, and for the same reasons.

Even if you found a Democrat who believes any of this, you'd be willing to vote in an entire party that decidedly does not feel that way. Why? Just because you found one?

Never will I ever vote Democrat.

I am a right leaning independent. I have voted for democrats in the past, including Obama in 2008, shamefully.

After what I have learned about democrats since 2008, and how I've seen them behave in the last few years, I think it safe to say that I can not consider switching in the foreseeable future. I certainly cannot support any that are currently running for POTUS.

I have strong libertarian leanings, and did not vote for either mainstream party in 2016. If the election were tomorrow, I would enthuastically vote for Trump's second term.

    My ideal candidate:
    1. Public healthcare option
      • Aggressively pursuing lowering the cost of care, equipment, and pharmaceuticals
    2. Tax reform
      • Removal of capital gains, all income taxed as regular income
      • Elimination of loopholes
      • Steep progressive income tax
    3. Immigration reform
      • Secure borders and make the interior hostile to illegals
      • Make citizenship easier to obtain for desirable immigrants
      • Reform birthright citizenship
      • National e-verify with employer penalties
    4. Balanced budget amendment with deep cuts to programs with too much fraud or waste
    5. National equality act; all Americans are equal to one another, no special rights, no affirmative action, no religious exemptions.
    6. National infrastructure bill
    7. Turn social security into a savings account
    8. Legalize cannabis
    9. Legalize physician assisted suicide
    10. End for profit prisons
    11. Election reform
      • Automatic voter registration
      • Ending partisan gerrymandering
      • End fptp nationwide

I don’t care what letter they have beside their name

I'm not interested in supporting anyone. I am interested in getting them processed through our immigration process faster though.

I learned first hand as a former Democrat why never to trust one or two or 50,.

I shall never cast a vote ever for a Democrat.

You mean the promises, not the actions. So far the only one that has worked hard to keep promises is Trump.

I've actually started a thread years ago explaining how a conservative politician can win my vote. Interestingly only one person appreciated my open mindedness. Other right leaning people just said "Keep your vote, we don't need you".

    It went something like this:

The center-left candidate behaves in an undemocratic manner like centralizing powers into one individual or at least fewer people. Maduro of Venezuela is a good example of this when he created a second legislative body to override Venezuela's opposition run parliament. The center-left candidate will have to be caught in a massive corruption scandal (NOT a sex scandal).

The center-right candidate needs to be strongly pro-environment and not just propose letting the private sector deal with environmentalism. They have to have a plan to deal with climate change and it would also be nice to have them create or further protect existing national parks. Then when they propose tax cuts or privatization of other government sectors and other fiscally conservative things, I can overlook that.

Under those circumstances yes I can see myself voting for the center-right or conservative candidate.

To what end? What in the world do you think a lone Democrat could do against their own party?

If Trump made all drugs legal for recreational use by Presidential Decree, (and he could do that, they are Federal statutes and he can overturn them) I'd consider voting for him, but probably still not.

Here's a shocker. I hope you are sitting down. Ready? Good.
They would have to actually care about the US and its citizens over others.
We literally have Democratic pols campaigning in foreign languages and in foreign countries. There is a reason this is happening and it is horrifying. They want to replace us. It is that simple.

Incorrect. Controlled Substances are on a schedule created by Federal law and therefore require Congress to actually pass a law to amend them. I don't know where you got the term "Presidential Decree" from.

    Support

    1. Support logical gun laws.

    2. Make sure that LGBTQ rights are the same as religious rights of people. Business does not have moral rights.

    3. Vow not to nominate reactionary rightist judges.

    4. Vow to raise taxes on the wealthy.

    5. Make the constitution work in the modern age, including the Electoral College.

After I read a history of the Russian Revolution 15 years ago, I switched from far left Democrat to center right Republican. There ain't no going back.
