Not at all. You are in the majority, though not by much. A fair minority don't like people having more than them and would be happy only if everybody was as less well off as they are. They would eventually miss terribly the things provided to them directly or indirectly by the wealthy, but by then it would be too late for everybody except those high up in the authoritarian government.

    1. Why is it your business?

    2.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is richto enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”

25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”

26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Thank's for taking God's word out of context and greatly distorting them. I'm sure you see your error now...

The wealthy do donate to the poor, they donate a great deal to all kinds of causes.

Here is act test for you... prove your posts are really about the poor and not just you're own greed.

Go, sell everything you have and give it to the poor you seem so concerned about. You ain't one of them..

    Yet more RW strawman BS.

There is no animosity to the wealthy and there never really was in the USA. As Mark Twain once put it, "There are no poor in America, just temporarily embarrassed millionaires"

We DO ask that the very wealthy pay at least as much in taxes as most of us do, and most of the RW call us godless commies for even asking that

Now it is true that I for one have gone on record as saying that I find being a subservient toady to the wealthy disgusting. People employ others to make more money for themselves and for no other reason. That is how capitalism works and nobody begrudges it, but this idea that rich people employ us all out of the goodness of their hearts is silly and insulting to all concerned.

    you are so incredibly wrong

    1. a quote from earlier in this thread.

"Yes it is. Tax them on it, income tax and inheritance tax.
At least the wealthy will never ascend to heaven: 'It's easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle then to ascend to Heaven'. You of all people should appreciate that: Greed is a terrible sin. The wealthy should donate to the poor, not just for the right reason but to avoid boiilng in Hell...."

This is animosity towards the rich animosity towards the rich simply because they are rich and no other reason... so you are wrong on that count

    2. the wealthy pay far more than you and I do.. so exceedingly more than we do..
remember 40% of Americans pay no federal income tax at all. I am one of them, though I might get the opportunity for that to change this year. I need to start pulling my own weight in this great country.

    3. Not one person in the world is forcing you to be anyone's toady, if you are someone's toady that's your choice...

    4. you are right that is how capitalism works. you should however be thankful for having a job. if you're not I'd say your a crappy ass employee. everyone who has a job should be thankful for it, even if they don't like it and are looking for a better one.
Ungrateful people are typically horribly unhappy and always looking for people to blame for their situation..

There you go, blew your argument out of the water for you.. now at least it won't sink.

I cheer the wealthy. It is they that keep the economy moving, providing wealth to the rest of us.

The top 10% of income earners pay more taxes than at least the bottom 50%. So how is it that you would get the wealthy to pay as much tax as the the rest?????

I have never heard anybody express the belief that the wealthy employ people out of the goodness of their hearts. Did you just come up with that strawman? The way it works: the wealthy employ people because they have an idea that they hope will make them rich, and that idea requires labor. He hires employees to do the work he wants done and pays them good (much better than before) money. The employees are pleased to be working, getting paid, and improving their lives. Of course there is a small percentage of chronic malcontents who take their paycheck but begrudge their job and their boss, and are disgusted to be working for the man.

The scholars that study public policy for a living have concluded in study after study for over three plus decades that the United States public policy environment is one of economic-elite domination and biased pluralism.

That’s the root of the animosity. At least intuitively the public knows they’re pulling the short straw.

The pecking order of influence in public policy: Economic elites, business-oriented based groups, mass-based groups, citizens.

The latter two have little to no independent influence on government policy. And contrary to public belief the two mass-based group categories, with a few exceptions, rarely align with the interests of average citizens.

Subsequently the root of the animosity toward the poor can be traced back to the propaganda generated from the mid-nineteenth century to today by..., guess who?

There is a reason for the animosity toward wealth and power, it’s well earned, and it isn’t based on envy.

This isn’t a left or right issue and contrary to the popular “divided” meme the people with little to no influence on public policy have a lot in common. It’s way past time we recognize just who is driving the divisions and for what obvious purpose.

Basically ALL of society's real tax expenditures are to either defend or protect the very wealthy. They get much MUCH more benefit from the government than do the lower classes and the poor and, yes, that takes into account all of the Welfare. Their share of taxes should be proportionately greater but they frequently pay very reduced or no taxes at all

Republican "look son, look at that big house on the hill, Mr Smith owns that house and also the local factory, supplies hundreds of jobs, started with nothing and built up a strong business, he has reaped the benefits, good for him son, you should strive to be like that"

Democrat "look son, look at that damn ugly house on the hill, that sumbitch Smith owns the polluting factory in town and probably has dead workers buried under the stone floor, we should go up there and burn down his house, why should he have a better house than us?"

    See the difference.

yep, sad not all get this, just because one wants less tax cuts for the rich, doesn't mean one hates the rich

does the right hate the working class as they do not want more for the working class?

the truth is, the working class have to have money for the rich to create jobs

if the people have no money to buy stuff, the rich stop creating jobs

the problem right now is the rich are creating the jobs overseas

no capitalist society can survive that, people have to have access to jobs or society collapses

during the Trump shutdown, Republicans turned to socialism for both the corps and the people, proving this on a large scale

if republicans had given the people trillions of dollars after we opened instead of the mega corps, imagine how many jobs businesses would have created to get that money

what we need now is an infrastructure bill to create jobs as the corps won't create enough jobs until people have money to buy stuff

I like rich people, they pay me. I've never made any money off poor people. I find that most people who have animosity toward the rich are either low wage earners or people who had a relatively wealthy upbringing and then failed.

I've long been a proponent of simplifying the tax code- eliminate deductions and loopholes. This is the only way to get the folks who can afford to employ teams of lawyers to save them money on taxes to ever pay 'their fair share.' Technically (legally) they are paying their fare share now simply because they avoid taxation via an overly complicated tax system that only they can afford to navigate to its full benefit. If we make it so joe blow not-a-lawyer can understand it, then we'll all benefit from it (or not) in a more equitable manner.

As it is, raising taxes is just another way the top of the pyramid can leverage out the competition that arent as tax-deductible as they have made themselves.

Yeh, the first one actually happens, number 2 is a Republican's paranoid fantasy used to justify oppressive taxation of the poor and paying subsistence wages.

Most rich people don't hate anyone, they're far too busy making money and enjoying their lives, but some rich people DO hate the lower classes and I maintain they form the core of the Republican Party. That's not meant as an insult, they generally think they have good reason for their animus and that it benefits the country, but I do maintain it is a fact.
