Yes, AOC is a socialist. You're repeating what I just said.

I think the senate race might have at least some positive implications for the public if Biden wins senate control, because most economists these days have abandoned the neoliberal dogma re balanced budgets, hence even academia will be on board with a large covid rescue package.

But I hear you re the "rat race"; we could all be living comfortably on a 30 hour week (or less), given the highly productive capacity of today's AI and IT assisted economies to produce the necessities for a healthy and prosperous community.

You have to live in the district if you want people to vote for you.

The entire House of Representatives is elected every 2 years, with the elections falling in even-numbered years like clockwork, so 2022, then 2024, then 2026, etc

No. The only requirement is they live in the state.

I see, so people in the district must vote for a candidate from another district? You confuse the rules with what I said. I said a candidate from elsewhere is unlikely to get enough votes to win.

Not true. It happens a lot. Maxine Waters, for whatever reason, keeps getting re-elected. She can't vote for herself, though, because she doesn't live in her district.

This is the question I knew would come from the left. This is how you know the left has taken their extreme, to a new extreme.

Who was your favorite Russian dictator?

So tell us, what is bad about being a socialist? Give us honest answers.

I quoted this link in the Bernie thread last month when asked the same question:

Tell me what about this you find wrong.

Was that piece written by you or by the US Chamber of Commerce? Either way I'll respond to what I feel is worth responding to.

Socialism is not the big lie of the 20th Century; first off, we are no longer in the 20th century; it's been over 20 years since we advanced into the 21st century. Socialism, depending on how much of it is embraced, offers equality, security and prosperity through working towards the betterment of all mankind. Capitalism is based on incentives, however it's flaws are people are not equal, people live in poverty, emphasis is placed on making money as opposed to individual lives, pollution of the environment over money, the exploiting of a majority of its workforce and the placement of the class system (upper class vs. lower class).

In socialism everyone works, whereas in capitalism for it to work, approx 3.5% unemployment is the norm. America has already adopted numerous socialist programs which work exceptionally well.

The rest of what you posted doesn't apply to America in this case.

Your opinion on the subject is noted.

Also: of course it doesn't apply to America...YET...it will if socialist policies pass through the white house and congress.

    Did you not read it?

Socialism is an absolute disaster. I asked you earlier about your favorite Russian leader and you never answered. I just wanted to see if you agreed with the Stalin method or if you were more of a Cuba guy. Oh well. Guess I'll never know which side of the fence you're on.

You are happy to accuse AOC of being an "insane socialist" while she is not here to defend herself..but refuse to explain how you came to that conclusion.

Army soldier? Good for cannon fodder maybe, but not too bright, apparently.

If socialism is such a great disaster, then why does America use several socialist programs right out of their book?

Socialism was tried in at least 40 countries. Tell me how many of those countries did it work in? I read ZERO.

If it's so great why does it always fail?

The Cuban Hispanics in Florida overwhelmingly voted for Trump because they know how socialism destroyed Cuba. That should be enough warning to know it's bad.

She knows government CAN implement an economy that works for all, while still ensuring incentive and reward for effort.

    That's why I love her.......

Note: currently, the top 10% of the population own 90 % of the nation's household wealth, while the bottom 20% of the population have negative wealth (ie are in debt to c.$8000 on average)...and c 40 million people live in poverty; moreover, 60% of the population cannot find savings of $1000 from savings in an emergency. That's the very definition of living with chronic financial stress - a killer.

Global "Democratic Socialism" will put us back to medieval times, with masses of "equally" poor and a small, wealthy aristocracy. That is the "equity" which is the outcome of Socialism. The middle-class will be taxed out of existence and have their property stolen.
