Curious about the range of nationalities represented here.

Couldn't vote in your poll, Bjorn, because there is no place that is "Anglo-North America".

Instead, there is a big 'salad bowl', or, 'toilet bowl' (take your pick), known as "North America", but it AIN'T "Anglo" anymore. Can't you tell...?

By Anglo-North America I am referring to language, not ethnicity or descent. Canada and the US is Anglo-North America for the purpose of this poll. Could have written Anglophone North America instead, I suppose, but I didn't think it made a significant difference. Spanish-speaking and Portugese speaking countries are commonly grouped as "Latin" because of language and their cultures being mainly affected by the culture and language of their initial settler cultures, even though Latin America today also have immigrants from groups outside of the Spain or Portugal.

In short: "Anglo-North America" does not refer to ancestry/ethnic group in my poll here. Just noticed I also forgot Carribean, btw. If anyone's from there, sorry. Pick Anglo-North America for English speaking Carribean territories, and Latin North American for French or Spanish territories.

Thank you for the clarification. When I saw the poll question, "What part of the world do you live in?" I assumed you were talking about geography.

I was indeed talking about geography. Some parts of North America has English as their majority and most commonly used language, and others have Spanish. That is part of geography. Anyway, I regret not using "Anglophone" or "English-speaking", but too late to edit poll, so I hope Americans, Canadians and Anglophone Carribeans will forgive and understand my poll options in the spirit they were meant.

But you are not supposed to notice.

Just like you are not supposed to notice the Ferguson Effect or the many other dysfunctions of the Left. That is what racism is to a large extent, noticing things which you are not supposed to.

You asked where and not you are saying language. A place and language are not necessarily the same.
You need to start over and define your polll so that it actually makes sense.

Do you actually expect Quibecqois to answer Anglo-North America?

You do realize or should realize that ationality and ethnic group are not necessarily the same.

I "need" to do nothing. If you're a Quebecois, and you feel hurt by me calling both Canada and US an "Anglo-North American" region, I simply don't care. If you're not Quebecois, I care even less. Vote or don't. I did not make the poll as an "inclusivity" excercise, but to answer a simple question of what regions of the world people on this forum live in. I already explained that Anglo North America refers to US and Canada earlier (because they're the majority language spoken both places), so if you're from either... vote that. Or don't. Just don't expect I care about your reasons for not wanting to vote.

If the poll "doesn't make sense", it's because the reader is an imbecile who cannot read or knows where in the world they live. To most people, they'll easily be able to answer the question, though.

I'd already cleared up and specified excatly what was meant by Anglo North America weeks ago. And since I am getting the data I want, and also the data I predicted I would get, I consider the poll a success. That was the purpose of the poll, after all.

No, it's making them up for the most part, or believing in and then justifying things which aren't there because you've been told they're so. You're not supposed to "notice" because they don't really exist.

Find me even ONE prominent person who makes a good case for a racism which disparages his OWN race. (I return this thread to its origins, Please make another and include a reference here if you wish to continue this discussion, thank you.)

Interesting question, I will have to research it. But I can tell you of a man who disparages his own sex.

I went ahead and voted, finally, that I live in "Anglo-North America". In the State of Colorado, actually, in the general Denver-Colorado Springs-Pueblo "Front Range" corridor.

I do wish we had more participants in the Forum from foreign countries... especially those that are not particularly 'friendly' to the United States. It is educational and thought-provoking to read the commentaries of other people, and we should welcome those discussions -- WITHOUT CENSORSHIP.

I agree. There used to be a nice Ukrainian bloke who posted but he wasn’t particularly political.
An Iranian member was an articulate interesting poster and so was a Turkish one.

I miss Sobo, an outspoken young German who was often distressed with nearly everyone. He finally got himself 'banned' and now he appears to be completely gone. When you type @Sobo , nothing comes up. That's too bad, because in this young guy I see the future of Germany -- a topic that I do know a fair amount about.

Come back, Sobo. The Forum is a much more interesting place with input from 'angry young men' -- WITHOUT CENSORSHIP!

FYI they don't speak French either. In fact for most of them their English is far better than their French is.

That is actually true for the majority but they think that they speak French until a real European based Frenchman/woman/person hears them try to speak French.

I made the mistake once of telling a Canadian her choice French or English. I will never make that mistake ever again.
