yes, I understand republicans don't give a **** about deficits or debt, and that they do not care about a balanced budget amendment. It's why they've never passed one, with super majorities in government.

yes, I understand republicans don't care about balancing the budget, deficit or debt. It's why they always slash revenue, spend like drunken teenage girls and increase the debt orders of magnitude more than dems do.

I'm always supportive of a Balanced Budget Amendment, no matter which party is governing. So point me to this "legislation" that you are referring to. Is it in a House committee now?

obviously if you could get elected by supporting a BBA 1000's would step up to be Congressmen and Senators. Fame and fortune!! Do you understand now?

seeing it as a problem half the time and supporting BBA's throughout American History is 100% superior to never seeing it as a problem and killing every single BBA. 1+1=2

This has been discussed since the Constitutional Convention. As you are not a historian or have knowledge of the Constitution, you are likely not aware of Congress's power of the purse.

    Read Article 1, Section 9, Clause 7:

No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.

In other words Congress has the power to disburse as well as raise revenues. Therefore, it can restrict spending whenever it wants under Constitutional authority. No need for an amendment.

One thing I don't like about an amendment is that you never know when international or stock market conditions cause a massive downfall in foreign or domestic created revenues. The government may not have access to revenues when that occurs. This might cause the government to shut down for a prolonged period of time without allowing Congress the flexibility to take temporary relief measures.

OK just admit you like deficit spending and want the Congress to do lots of it.

That's why I like to visit these left-ward, "I'm mad about the deficit!" threads. They are so fake and ripe for mockery. So thanks for participating!

They would pass a BBA tomorrow to make debt illegal if the Democratic influence was not always 100% opposed. Democrats are opposed because they need to keep the welfare flowing to always buy more votes.

But we know this is bullshit, because republicans have had supermajorities more than once in the past 30 years, and they did nothing.

And republicans have passed none, even when they had supermajorities. We know of course republicans don't give a **** about debt or deficits.

When they wouldn't work with him at all on BIPARTISAN legislation, then that was proof.

So your concern about the debt was phony.

    I figured as much.

Hey, when the gop had a trifeca they didn't care about the debt, why can't the dems do the same thing? What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Sounds like you are acknowledging that I was right. You don't care about the debt at all.

Do not attempt to assume what I am saying, you are ill equipped. All taxes by force are immoral. More or less immoral taxes, is still immoral. Income based taxes were created to enslave the working class. If you do not understand that you are too under educated to intelligently discuss this issue.
