As of one year ago, the single most important places to put your money are in DMG: Disney, Microsoft, Google. I have been tracking them and have some confidence that this is where your money should be.

Disney bought Marvel for $1B and made it back in 5 years... the cost of a Disney Park Admission can be used as a gague of the devaluation of our currency, something COLAs don't do anymore.

I would pull out of metal and go long with DMG.

Basic needs need to be addressed first:
    Protection
    Water
    Food

For those living in and near inner-city wastelands one should first have their homes fortifyed with steel bars on the windows and doors, a good alarm system and maybe a barking dog.

Firearms and training are also a valuable investment.

Having an adequate supply of food and water---a month's supply at least---is vital. One needs at the very least a gallon of water a day, just to live.

Also consider investing in a chemical hazard suit, or at least N95 filter if you live near anyone coming and going from Ebola contaminated areas of West Africa.

I know, but you're coming off like a wacko. And take it from me- my location and the contents of my basement also make me a wacko but that is not what I am addressing here.

I strongly believe that Disney, Microspft and Google will be and have been dictating the worth of a dollar. So as such, if you want a true bellweather for this amount, look at Disney's stock.

I have believed since 2008 that inflation has been 10% or higher but they kept it at 0% and low on purpose. May I remind you silver was $3.50 a decade ago. Disney's growth is in dicrect proportion with inflation...

In other words, you will always get X experience for Y dollars... the Y dollars keep changing. Disney's admission rate has been going up 16% per year since the 80's- a simple Google check confirms this, which brings up Google and Microsoft.

Here is my unfortunately probably true prediction: our foreign investors at some point in the next 20 years or less are going to buy Disney, Google and Microsoft for the trillions of dollars that we owe them. They will talk in, see that Disney is worth $400 billion and buy it for a trillion.

But between now and then, Disney, Google, Microsoft.

One of the problems with money storage in the US is that we have no place to store cash which is 100% protected. FDIC only insures up to $250K per depositor per bank. Why can't we store $5 million and have it 100% insured? There comes a time in one's life when they cannot expose themselves to stock purchases or other risky financial investments, and no matter the dismal interest income on cash deposits, we should have the option of saving as much cash as we desire...

I wouldn't be so bullish on Google. Eventually they will be anti-trusted like Microsoft, and probably sooner rather than later before they completely destroy the likes of Comcast. Beyond that, just depends, if you can swing it and your market is favorable, just buying real estate is a good deal. It is in my area at least. I would add in Bank of America in the long term if you are not into real estate investing.

When you realize that YouTube makes 1/100th of a penny on viral videos that are seen a million per day when viral, or that Gundam Style video with 2 billion hits it becomes obvious that Google is where to put money.

When the system implodes, you will starve to death if all you have is a symbol of wealth, i.e. money, stocks, and so on. Too bad money has no nutritional value. Real wealth is material resources, not money, not stocks, not bonds, not metal.

God, I hate to be the bearer of bad news.. but reality is a harsh mistress. And I was raised by people who lived through the Great Depression, parents and grandparents. I listened to what they tried to teach me.

No- the problem is greed. I can provide an extensive list of stock traders who get you 8% per year. But 8% is not enough for these people so stuff like housing bubble appear... short term profits and long term damage. I can get you more than 8% per year- Disney, Google, Microsoft. Open your own account and put money there and forget about it, no stockbroker needed.

As far as risk, what's the problem? None of those multi-billion dollar dominant companies is going anywhere... my fear is China realizing what I realized and spending trillions to buy thse companies, which would be an economic windfall for stockholders.

Your opinion about investment risk is ridiculous! As I stated, at a point in time in one's life, it's ludicrous to continue investing. If it's money that the person doesn't care if they lose then fine. But short of this, as people age, it is WISE to increase the percentage of cash and reduce risky investments. My comment was that people should be able to save as much cash as they desire having all of it 100% insured...instead of the current and measly $250K...

Would you be willing to play a game with me then? We each have $3 million to invest and we each declare how we're investing it. Then we watch over time. So was that a throwaway comment you made or are you up to it?

Well I have taken a broad opinion of where to invest. Physical resources are important, transportation & physical commodities. Such as precious metals & transportation companies are becoming more important to me.

I recently bought 2lbs of physical gold bars & invested in Water & RailRoad companies.

Disney, Microsoft, Google. A deleterious marching group

Are you going to start making funny sound effects soon? The problem is that NONE of the popular market pundits have ever been right. The only ones that are, like Warren Buffet, aren't talking.

I have extrapolated silver has a ceiling of $100/oz with gold at a relative rate.

Silver and gold are ONLY good if you're paranoid about the world about to end. Why? Because they offer the security as a bellweather of the "psycho factor" of the American psyche. Is silver doubled tomorrow, it would be world headlines. Possible, but unlikely.

There exists an entity above us all that has been buying and selling Precious Metals for centuries. They realize the supply is limited so they use that to play games with the other 99% of us. PM's offer solid security but they're backed by these people who buy and sell at whim, or whenever a stock dividend comes in.

A building full of gold is only valuable if at least that much in gold is spent guarding it, making physical possession a bad math equation.

You folks don't realize we live in a millenial-kid-ruled world where everyone is poor but everyone has $500 when that new gaming platform comes out... you don't see what is driving our economy.

The future is INFORMATION. The future is controlling information. Google has a stanglehold on the dissemination of information, Microsoft has a strangehold over which US-though of and Chinese made plastic crap that becomes obsolete within a year. And Disney has a stanglehold over our entertainment. Have any of you ever wondered why a Napster-YouTube hasn't emerged where they show it all? It hasn't because it wouldn't be in the Google search engine.

Cash... DOLLARS are the absolute worst thing to have possession of. Dollars should be spent as soon as possible. What happens when you take a half full gallon of orange juice and fill the rest with water? It becomes dilute; weak. THIS IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR CURRENCY. Do you really think that blinking $700 billion dollars into existence has no repercussions?

We are the world's first post-industrial nation. We produce nothing and consume everything. What's driving this ship? Disney, Google and Mircosoft.

Now let me check my stocks...

PS- It's amazing- people will pay Buffet millions for what I just said.

    Disney $90.00 X 11,299 shares = 1,016,910
    Microsoft $48.68 X 21,758 shares = 1,059,179
    Google $541.01 X 1,863 shares for = 1,007,901
    TOTAL 3,083,990
    Profit: $83,999.00

I predict a jump in Google. I sell 5,000 shares of Disney for $450,000 and buy 831 more shares of Google.

My portfolio on Monday morning will be:
    Disney 6,299 shares
    Microsoft 21,758 shares
    Google 2,694 shares

Since I started lecturing you all, I have made $83,999.00. I give it another 3 months before this thread explodes. And the funny part is I am right here as your personal financial advisor and you're all worried about who farted in Congress.

The $117,000 that I made in three weeks is enough to hire a dozen hitmen so you don't end up shooting me.

youd need 10x that many, dude. for real. It can be done from half a mile away. today, with shock collars, its' very easy and quick to train a dog to charge 1/4 mile and dive under your car's gas tank, with a suitable sort of "collar", of course. It doesn't even need to be visible, as long as the brisance is high enough. Not many types of material have that sort of speed, but some do. :)
