Who is right? The climate alarmists? Or the Climate deniers?

The fact that it has become a political issue tells you everything you need to know.

    Absolutely.

The iea that politicians could possibly be better at physics, chemistry, biology, geology, etc., etc., than are the scientists in these fields is laughable.

Besides, one would have to look at the world of politics, not just some US Republicans.

When scientists become advocates, advocacy is presented as science.

Scientists are always going to be advocates of their science.

That's the product of their life work.

That's how the public learns what has been discovered.

The idea of funding studies of how this universe works and then HIDING THE RESULTS is just too stupid for words.

The result is that we end up with monied interests promoting blatant lies that serve their business and political interests - while major organizations of science do ... what? Sit in a corner and ****???

There's no requirement to hide their results, but they should not be advocating public policy.

The idea of removing science from public policy more than it already is is just plain criminal.

If they are advocates then they forfeit trust.

That is a statement concerning the element in our society that absolutely HATES those who become expert in a field through decades of education, training, and experimentation.

We all KNOW people who hate whole universities, whole fields of science, individuals who have decades long track records of promoting the truth.

And, we know there are some horrible sinners out there - tobacco "scientists" who claimed cigarettes don't cause health problems, etc.

From your study on problems in science, you KNOW that science is spectacularly successful, yet we must use some basic techniques for ensuring we aren't hitting the "tobacco scientists" of the world.

On the contrary. I'm opposed to the thoughtless hate that gets applied to science.

    Nope. The record indicates otherwise.

I missed the partisan part of my post. I guess you needed to invent that for some reason.

I would point out that the majority of deniers are political or business activists. And, the US tends to have more of those than do other first world countries.

While there are a few deniers who base their opinions on science, the vast majority of scientists working in the field of climate point to Earth warming because of human contributions.

Overall, the largest divide on this issue is between Republicans and Democrats.

Given the sum of the above, you can not suggest that it is I who added politics!!

    See:
Internationally, the USA and China receive poor marks. Plus, around the world, those more ideologically left and those more wealthy favor greater action, even if that action affects their life style.

I'm familiar with the issues. No need for the primer. I am not a climate denier. I am an opponent of making climate political.

Ok, then I have no idea what you're talking about.

Responding to climate change requires policy.

Policy IS POLITICAL. That is the ONLY way that policy gets made.

The Covid fiasco will morph over into a Climate Change emergency if we let them. They have tasted dictatorship and they like it. All they need is a Dr. Climate Fauci.
Don’t forget Obama bought beach front property, thus putting the lie to the whole idea.
Sea levels have been rising and falling through the millenniums. Roman ruins are found under the sea.

Yes it is. Climate will change regardless of our efforts to stop it.

Seems like hubris to intervene in natural processes.

We should try because it's possible it might not be natural, and therefore potentially reversible

That's an assumption. Remember, the reason we should try because there is evidence we are causing it. AFAIK, based on reportage.
