Carter and Obama have the dubious title of Worst President Ever in the United States. But if both of these men were to run in their prime, who would you vote for?

Assume you had to vote for one and not abstain.

Feel free to share your thoughts on each's accomplishments are why they were not your choice.

I don't think Carter was an anti American globalist that colluded with our enemies like Obama. I'd vote for carter.

This was a tough call but I had to go with Jimmy Carter on this one. Several reasons why:

    - The Carter Center. Guinea worm disease, a devastating tropical infection that incapacitates its victims. The center has announced that the disease, which was estimated in 1986 to affect 3.5 million people, was reduced to 126 cases in 2014. It will likely become the first human disease eradicated since smallpox.
    - Carter was a Naval Veteran.
    - Carter mediated negotiations between Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat to produce the Camp David Accords. Under the agreement, Israel agreed to return Egyptian territory conquered during the 1973 war, and Egypt in return extended full diplomatic recognition to Israel. Begin and Sadat won the Nobel Peace Prize for that effort.

Carter has given a lot of time and money after his Presidency while Obama serves his own interests just to enrich himself. In fact, one of the very first things Obama did after he took office was get millions in a book deal. He should have been impeached for it or denied doing such a thing until after he left office.

Carter was a terrible speaker, though. He did not convey himself well nor did he portray strength. He also didn't openly lie as much as Obama did either and he respected the separation of powers in our branches of gov't, unlike Obama.

It was a tough call but in the end, I went with Jimmy Carter. His heart is far more pure and in the end, worked hard for the American people and not for himself or his party. He was an American first and foremost.

In what year are they running? I mean Obama's prime years or Carter's?

I initially chose Obama, but then changed my vote. And now I'm wavering again.

It's certainly a Sophie's choice, and it's difficult not to look at results.

In their prime? Carter by an almost imperceptible margin.

Carter was a total shift from what had been the norm. Simple guy, plain spoken, inherently trustworthy.

You can also just give your choice on who was better overall and why. That is pretty much what I did. Measured the positive and negatives of each Presidency then tabulated my vote. Hard to pick a single year as they are so far apart in age.

Carter, because for all his faults as president he did not actually hate this nation, and to a certain extent he could learn from his mistakes. He was neither arrogant nor a narcissist. So although I still would have to hold my nose in order to vote for Jimmy; it would still be Carter over nation-hating and race-agitating Barack Obama.

This is what sealed it for me. In the end and by almost all of his actions after he was President, he truly had good in his heart and did some amazing things.

I did not like him as President at all, but I would cross the street any day and at anytime to shake his hand and thank him for his service and for the good things he has done.

Not sure I'd cross the street to shake his hand, given how he has tried to insert himself in difficult international issues, and undercut the policies of Presidential administrations, but I wouldn't cross to the other side if I saw him walking in my path.

Historians will tell you a president needs to be out of office for 20 years before one can accurately gauge his presidency. This give the partisan rancor a chance to die down and also let's historians to assess the long term effects of a president's policies which can't be done while a president is in office or immediately after he leaves office.

Quinnipiac ask the question last year who was the best and worst presidents since WWII. The best 1 Reagan, 2 Obama with Carter 7th. The worst, 1 Trump, 2 Obama and Carter at number 4. So it is all subjective.

    Presidential rankings are here.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_rankings_of_presidents_of_the_United_States

As for me, I voted for Carter twice, never voted for Obama. Even so I would put Obama ahead of Jimmy. I still like Jimmy and am pretty indifferent about Obama. Obama was the better president in my book. Each of us looks at presidents differently. The best presidents in my lifetime were 1 Eisenhower 2 JFK followed by 3 Reagan and 4 Bill Clinton. Reagan and Bill Clinton sometimes swap positions. The worst or bottom four, 1 Carter 2 Ford 3 Obama 4 G.W. Bush. I didn't include Trump in my worst four since he is still serving as president.

I, too, voted for Carter, even though it was like dealing with a question like, "Which is worse -- puke, or diarrhea?" Ultimately, I chose old 'Jimmuh Cawduh' as the better president if only because he did LESS DAMAGE to the United States overall.

Puke? Diarrhea? Ideally, they both should end up in the toilet, along with all the other Democrat Party 'Socialism-lite' idiocy.... Quick -- flush that toilet!

On reflection, I'll always be grateful to old 'Jimmuh Cawduh' for doing one thing above all others -- paving the way for the greatest presidency of my lifetime... that of PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN!

Thank you so much, Jimmuh! We could have probably done it without you, but you made it SO MUCH EASIER! :roflol:

[IMG]. At least 'Jimmuh' actually WORKED during his life.... But "Messiah" Obama... not so much...."

Carter had a better GDP than Trump has - but Obama started in pretty deep hole.

Carter was a liberal of liberals at that time. He was nice guy and has helped build homes for habitat for humanity.

I find it interesting that our leftist forum posters -- who relentlessly generated the impression of outright worshiping Barack Obama for eight straight years -- are apparently avoiding this poll like an ideological plague. What's the big deal? When in the past have they ever hesitated to do the metaphorical equivalent of belly crawling over a bed of broken glass to praise Barack to the very heavens? Gasp! Do so very many of them NOW also think that Jimmy Carter was the better president?

In other words, has the political shine finally fallen from Barack Obama for them . . . their formerly sacred and holy Political Messiah? Sweet!

Obama was an average president who had the bad luck of starting from a very deep economic hole.

Carter was an average president who had the bad luck of having an Iranian hostage crisis.

Both seem to have been decent family men.

Why wouldn’t the average American compare them more favorably to Trump when Carter had better GDP numbers and neither had to hire a “fixer” to pay off porn stars ...

It’s not that they were “great” - it’s just that they were better human beings than Trump.

On average for job approval Obama rates slightly higher than Truman, Ford, and Carter, but that's it.

    Obama? An expert 'economist'...?! :roflol:

Obama was never anything but a house 'pet' (synonyms abound....) for the Federal Reserve banking cartel, which launched one 'magic trick' after another to artificially juice the economy -- and we'll pay a dreadful price for that someday. A 'house of cards' is rock-solid compared to the Fed's "fraud balloon".... Tim Geithner and other Fed 'players' told Obama everything to do, but mostly to just stay out of their way. In fairness, Henry Paulson and other Fed 'players' did essentially the SAME thing to "W" Bush, too!

The Fed flooded the world with unlimited amounts of imaginary, interest-free money, and created QEI, QEII, QEIII, "Operation Twist", while it sh!t on people who actually SAVE money, making them virtual "enemies of the state"! BTW... we're still treated like that!

All "Messiah" Obama did was be the Fed's politically-correct, racially-correct, stand-up 'poster boy' for the Fed's gigantic Welfare State, to keep the American 'cattle' from tearing down 'the corral' while they took over TOTAL control of the economy.
