DeSantis would run circles around Trump in a debate, and Trump knows it. This is the reason for the new nickname.

You obviously know nothing about Ron DeSantis, not even worth a discussion.

Trump will win the nomination because over 50 percent of Republican primary voters are Trump-bots. They would rather nominate him and lose than try to save the country.

Trump is too old and too egotistical win the presidency. He couldn’t even against Biden in a head to head match-up. November 8, 2022 proved it.

Trump's long time (2016) political advisor and in the Trump administration.

It is ironic that Trump's permeant residence is now in DeSantis land.

The grievance jamborees for losers - delusional self-pitying therapy sessions - will now be especially fraught with lies, petty vendettas, and vapid bluster, a chintzy homage to Sunset Boulevard.

It's time to make, "TRUMP: THE MOVIE." Busey is shooting for an Oscar.

His strategy of going about his authoritarian agenda whilst ignoring his imploding constituent is shrewd. Do Run Ron is casting the whiny tubby as Doc Doneeka in Catch-22, wandering around Mar-a-Lago as everyone ignores his inconvenient existence.

Who will win the coming DeSantis vs Trump Slap Fight?
It looks as if DeSantis need not even raise an authoritarian finger to the Loser.

... Murdoch-owned media outlets — the New York Post, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal — are blaming Trump for the GOP’s lackluster performance, and appear ready to move on ...

On its front page Wednesday morning, the New York Post anointed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis “DeFuture” of the GOP. On Thursday it took fresh aim at Trump, depicting him as “Trumpty Dumpty.”

“Trump Is the Republican Party’s Biggest Loser”
the Wall Street Journal declared in a blistering editorial on Wednesday evening.
“He has now flopped in 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2022,” the WSJ editorial board wrote. “What will Democrats do when Trump isn’t around to lose elections?”

“Ron DeSantis is the new Republican Party leader,” Fox News said in an online editorial after the Florida governor secured a resounding reelection victory ahead of his looming decision whether to run for president in 2024.

I predict primary debates between the two being the most-watched event in US history.

I hope DeSantis realizes that beating the "old donkey" (as he calls Crist) doesn't mean his style appeals to the rest of the nation. It appeals 100% to populist socially ultra conservative Republicans, - but not the younger generations who showed up in midterms to voice their displeasure against social policing, which is what DeSantis focuses 100% on.

I predict your would be correct here and that Trump will drown him in the gutter, his favorite place! Only the DOJ can save DeSanctimonious now!

It would be amusing, but the GOP will off the Loser before Do Run Ron has to has to deal with him. The last serious Republicans want is Trump befouling their nominee, and his goons getting wee wee'd up as if they were savaging outnumbered police at the Capitol.

Please allow me to try to make it simpler for you.

The GOP's new darling is the authoritarian, DeSantis. The don't want to have the Cry Baby Loser braying at him in a "debate" for the presidential nomination.

It depends on how Trump handles himself. He got a lot of blow back nicknaming DeSantis, and the lack of a Red Wave, rightly or wrongly will be blamed on him.
You can only do so much with lousy candidates.
But given the state of the media today what mover and shaker want's to put up with all of the attacks for a piddly government paycheck? IMO, this is one reason we are doomed to nominate either the dullest or the most fanatical among is. Everyone else knows better.

I dunno where you're getting that. I can't wait to see them debate and as far as I can tell, most conservatives want to see it as well.

On what basis do you declare DeSantis 'authoritarian'?

I am all for DeSantis moving Trump out of the way and Trump spending his time playing golf.

I'm thinking this election cycle has put an end to Trump running again. He might not know it yet.

His ego won't allow that - he is going to run. DeSantis is going to be pressured not to run for fear that Trump will blow up their chances in Nov 24 if he is not the nominee

I still think that DeSantis being offered the VP slot is highly likely as that would make him the clear front runner in 2028 no matter what happens

Trump had once said that he'd destroy the careers of Republicans who spoke against him yet Desantis has remained quiet which probably infuriates Trump even more,
Trump must be hearing Ron's roaring laughter, especially with the "loyalty" thingy.

'US election: Trump tears into rising Republican rival DeSantis'

    Snip:

"In a lengthy statement on Thursday night, Mr Trump dismissed the Florida governor as a political lightweight who had come to him "in desperate shape" when running for his first term in office in 2017.

"Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse [sic] him, he could win," Mr Trump said. "I also fixed his campaign, which had completely fallen apart."

He went on to complain that Mr DeSantis - whom he is nicknaming "Ron DeSanctimonious" - was "playing games" by refusing to rule out a presidential bid.

"Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that's really not the right answer," Mr Trump added.

The former president is widely expected to announce his own plan for a White House comeback as soon as next week.

While Mr DeSantis is bathing in the glow of his re-election victory, Mr Trump has been blamed for the Republicans' disappointing performance in the midterm elections."
