I think judging by historical accounts I.E genocide, slavery, and present accounts I.E murder rates, or rape rates. That Czechs, Poles, Slovaks, Hungarians, Swiss, and Danes are the most peaceful Europeans. But, what's your opinion? There definitely seems to be a very wide disparity between Brits, Germans, Belgians, Portuguese, Spaniards, and French, and the ones I listed. It's almost hard to believe they all belong to the same race, and general culture, given by the historical major disparities in terms of morality.
I always thought Swiss were relatively peaceful - neutral at least. I know they invented the halberd - but if I recall correctly, they avoided participating in both global wars of last century.
Swiss are rather neutral than peacefull, they don't work for peace, they just ignore what happens outside their countries, it's still wiser than destroying foreign countries for "civilization", "democracy" or "communism" like the french, USA or russian did. Most poles I met were extremly rude and agressive so I wouldn't consider them peacefull. I have a deep respect for swiss, finnish and danish history.
Very tough call. Depends how far back in history you want to go. Many had aggressive wars of conquest and overseas empires. Many would regard Belgium as a candidate, but I think what they did with the Belgian Congo was despicable. The Swiss don't participate in wars physically, but they sure profit from them. The past is less important than the present - I firmly believe Germany has learned the folly of war and is among the most committed to never have another war.
I don't think so. A lot of countries said to them to don't welcome too much refugees because the situation were already harsh with muslims, they didn't listened. Germany, at least their governement, is extremly disrespectfull toward a lot of countries.
Well, most of Germany's government's members grew up in country devastated and divided by war, that took years, decades to recover from. They likely to remember such a betrayal of their human rights and be distrustful towards foreigners in politics. When you live under deliberate harm from somebody - you never forget it, even when it's in the past.
I think Irish would be a good candidate too, if not for the IRA terrorists. I was thinking Norwegians too, but then I remembered Breivik, and the Vikings.
Uh yeah, that's why I put Belgians as one of the worst, the Belgian Congo Genocide was comparable to the Holocaust in numbers killed.
How do you figure Poles are aggressive, exactly? Most Poles I've met have been fairly mild mannered, and laid back. But, then again I live in Western Connecticut, where people tend to be more assertive, than other parts of the country.
A lot of people would consider Sweden also as a candidate, but Swedes killed millions of Poles in the Deluge, and millions of Germans in the 30 Year War.
Finland would probably be the best candidate historically, but I didn't include them, simply because they have a high murder rate by Western European standards.
Probably the Icelandic people. If we're just counting the larger nations with at least a couple million inhabitants, I'd say Norway, even though we've been meddling quite a bit after WW2. Maybe Switzerland, at least for the last 150 years, but they have a pretty violent history before that. Most of the wars involving Norway the last 1000 years have really just been the Swedes and the Danes going at each other, and we getting caught in the crossfire. So, historically, Norwegians, but presently, the Swiss. Yeah, I know, the whole Viking thing. But really, the stories about the Vikings were primarily written by the Viking's main source of income in his seasonal side gig, of course a monk that has just soiled his frock after a raid will try to paint the Vikings as evil, awful people.
Damned Viking apologists. They come over here with their raping and their pillaging but you blame the victims. What we needed back then was better border control to keep those murdering pagans out of our nice Christian country........
actually the congo was personal property of the king at the time and he was a german king when the genocide was revealed/discovered the goverment took it away from him and things improved alot
