Just wondering. There's a lot of humanity on this forum and I think it would be interesting to see what others think.
Just look at my nick to see mine.
    Anyone?

Take an aural journey with the master! It gets better and better, don't like the last few seconds though.

Some who are unfamiliar with Vai might recognize him as the devil spawn from the movie "Crossroads".

Really good. IMO, he's one of the most technically perfect around. Almost got a sit down with him once, but he switched allegiance to PRS (can't much blame him tho).

Its a toss up between Steve Vai and Eric Clapton. Both accomplished musicians with some great music.

So many, but I'll have to go with a friend of mine who passed away a few years ago: Shawn Lane.

Joe was always better when he was drunk, lol. I was privileged to be able to do a neck re-set on his 52 L-5 a couple of years back. And he's one of the best guys to just hang around with there is (and he's as ugly as I am) :-D

Hammett and Kroger seem rock solid (so to speak). Never met either, but the recordings tell the tale, and I did see Metallica a few times. He had some black goth looking guitar he played, never could figure out what it was (any help?).
    Maybe an Ibanez?

Now Vai is truly gifted (but he knows it). Really nimble fingered. Thank God he kinda moved away from the shredding BS tho.

I don't mean to spread rumors, but the latest buzz is that Clapton has RA in his left hand and wrist.
I wish him all the best if it's true.

No one picked my guy? :omg:
    Who figured it out?
Duane Allman. Just listen to Whipping Post or Stormy Monday from live at the fillmore. That's how the blues should make you feel.

Way too hard to pick just one.

    David Gilmour
    Steve Vai
    Derek Trucks
    Mike Keneally
    Joe Satriani
    Pat Metheny
    Frank Zappa
    SRV
    John Petrucci
    John 5
    John Mclaughlin
    Eric Johnson
    Rory Gallagher
    Robert Fripp

But, if I had to choose just one: JEFF BECK

Kurt Cobain's haunting and melodic acoustic guitar work in his Unplugged in New York session was sorta surprising for me....it was an open window into his anguished soul.

One of my favorites, as well.

Robert Johnson has to be near the top of every blues/rock lover's list.

    I think it's a law. :)
