Why am I being judged over my skin colour?

    In job interviews I have been 100% discriminated against and not got a job because of my race.

    How is this fair, the person that should be the best candidate regardless of gender or skin colour.

    I can whole heartedly say if not got a job because 1. My gender is less desirable of the two, 2. My skin colour is not as desirable to the employer.


    Sooo annoying that this is acceptable in this modern day. It would be better to conduct interviews with a box on the candidates head and have them speak through a voice changer haha.

    At least that way it would take race and gender out the equation.

    You say your solution jokingly, but I kinda agree. Hiring would be more merit-based if the employer couldn't identify the appearance of the candidate. I don't always agree with merit because I personally believe employers should hire who they want.

    That said, how are you sure you didn't get the job based on skin color or gender? You've managed to get some interviews so your resume/application is strong. Have you considered your performance on the interview? How do you think you did?

    It's unfortunate but I can see where your situation would be true. I'm wondering what the position is you're applying for. If I were hiring one individual to represent my product as a single sales representitive or if I was hiring one individual to work on assembling my products you can believe that my response to an individals appearance, demeanor and race would make a difference in my decision. It might be something many employers wouldn't want to admit but as sad as it is it's true.

    Sales representative, the company wanted to be seen as being diverse. Basically I did not get the job because of my white skin colour.

    Although I did slightly better than all the other applicants, me having the wrong skin colour I never got the job.

    I have hired many people for many positions and wish to share a true story. For years a played by the anti discrimination hand book and probably had mostly minority/female employees. I was a retail manger and had rarely interviewed minority applicants for management positions, primarily because there were few in any applications to review. I received one from a man and he interviewed, well dressed and articulate some pertinent experience so I hired him as my Asst. manager. He was given alarm codes and keys as well as ample training....I liked him and he did a good job.
    About six months later the Manager of the McDonalds on the block informed me my assistants car was in the lot at 2AM and he watched as he and his girlfriend loaded it up with product. When confronted he denied it at first until my DM and me called the police to investigate...he then admitted it.
    I never hired a Black man again for ANY position. Right or wrong there it is.

    Must be a white dude, because everybody else gets special treatment and can sue for discrimination if they don't get hired...

    First, the OP spells the word 'colour' which isn't the American English spelling.

    Second, I worked on Wall St for a long time, and we were DESPERATE to hire Blacks from the late 80s forwards, as are ALL large and medium size American companies to meet expected (societal and Legal) diversity quotas.
    Good luck with that.
    Black grads in STEM and higher Math.. Rotsa Ruck.

    Elite Schools with no quotas such as the NYC's big 5 merit High Schools (Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, etc, and Colleges like Cal Tech) tend to be about 1-2% black. (and 40-70% Asian)
    We all know Silicon Valley's problem... it's an IQocracy.. white and Asian. (and male)

    So generally, Blacks with Equivalent education or skills have a Huge advantage in getting a job in the USA, especially in STEM areas.
    as they do getting into Elite colleges with even much lesser scores because of similar quotas/AA in the vast majority.

    Yeah that's really common now. In the United States, it's part of federal law - Affirmative Action - to actively discriminate against white men in specific.

    Old school racism disappeared, it's replaced by progressive racism. Because the new racism is different from the old school one, they think it's not racism anymore.

    Apparently racism is deeply in our mind.

    People can tiptoe around it lie about it and deny it even exist but everyone knows the straight white male is under attack by minority racist.
    Along with this fact is the mentally ill liberal whites who also hate themselves and we have genocide of an entire race.
    Unlike when blacks were being treated like white men are now and majority of whites defended them and even had a war to stop the slavery created by both black and white slavers.
    Not to speak of the racism most minority men show by preferring white women over their own race. It is insulting to their mothers and female relatives.

    I think it's rather ridiculous that one would migrate to a white country and demand to be catered to. Why not repatriate and build your own ancestral country? These "white people don't love me enough" arguments are beyond the pale.

    This is very unfortunate.

    But you can be in good shape! Yes for hundreds of years now, there exists an easy solution for hardworking White people like you; go apply at a company which is known for preserving, White Privilege, because there are plenty of them!

    You'll probably get paid more too, versus your starting salary at a company that's reaching for a diverse workforce instead of sticking with America's good ol' boy network system of opportunity like which you can easily benefit from.
