Why are Canadians so much more boring and less friendly.....than Australians?

This is actually a quite valid question:

My off hand guess is that we Canadians..... tend to be somewhat Elitist.......
and we like to think of ourselves as superior to Americans.......
and we try our best to prove it by acting superior...... / quiet........

.. so that we don't open our mouths and prove otherwise???????

"Our horrible climate makes us overly polite."

I went with this option.... because our weather or climate or whatever the .... you want to call it.... is so horrible that we never know when we may end up stuck in a snow bank................. or our power may go out........ and we have to ask a neighbour for help to get out of the snow bank........ . or perhaps even visit the neighbour who has a wood stove..... (I personally have no wood stove and rely totally on oil fired infloor heating which..... if the power goes out........... Everybody in my house has a problem.......

Back in the 1980's when I was single and drove all around Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and P.E. I. a lot..... I got stuck in snow banks a few times.... and I never had to knock on door number two to receive assistance.......

Maybe all the interesting Canadians move to America.

Canadians seem insanely polite. Australians not so much. I don't see an obvious reason for that.

We also have a brutal climate. I was discussing last night what it must have been like for my forbears to move from a place where 30C is a heatwave to a place where 40C is a common summer temperature. At least the people who moved to Canada understood the concept of cold climates. For over a century we built replicas or English homes designed to keep the heat in. We also have fire, flood and drought to contend with, so I don't imagine the sense of community is any less than in Canada.

The heat also encourages beer consumption, which might explain something.

Maybe it is our wildlife that makes us so impolite - the possibility we could die gardening in the back yard means life is too short for politeness.

Maybe it is our isolation. Canada has always been close to big, similar populations. In the age of sail Europe was half the time away or less compared to Australia. Not really sure if this is a reason, as new Zealanders seem more polite than us.

Maybe it is the number of Irish who came here.

    Don't know.

Yes...... good theory........ my daughter and I watched Steve Irwin movies over and over again...... he was hilarious.......... but each day that he survived was an absolute miracle from Creator and the angels because Wow..... .but he took risks!!!!

One time when our daughter was about two or three years of age she told her mom about a bear in the back yard........ she had chased after it to pet it...... and the same day we saw a bear cross the road below our home. Maybe our daughter was Australian in a past life????!!!

Little Colton Burpo reports meeting lots and lots and lots of animals during his near death experience.

Ms. Jan Price reported meeting her previously deceased Springer, Maggie during her near death experience.

I really think that Steve Irwin was met by a hoard of his animal friends and fans........
because his fearlessness...... is a great example of how to live this life and squeeze all the juice out of every moment of life!

Yea....... we went more so with whatever game Americans were playing and....... Americans sure have taken to hockey...... and if I remember correctly a Canadian invented basketball.

Oh.... Canadian veterans did come back from WWII saying that it was so wonderful to work with Australians...... because you were so willing to do the impossible....... and get killed..... to take relatively impossible to take outposts that the Germans had set up. Australians......like Canadians felt that WWII was also your problem......... due to our closer ties to England.

I have not seen Australia market a lovely train ride across the iddy biddy continent.
With similar exciting views, just different. Endless and dry and flat.

    Two words.

"Ice hockey". Yes I know it's just "hockey", I'm married to a Canadian.

    Another two words. "Rocket Richard".

That should sort it out :)

Thank you.......... I do remember back during the '80's I would be listening to Garner Ted Armstrong and / or President Ronald Reagan..... and I would kind of practice speeches while working at forestry..........

I even ended up habitually going to work rather late and working to dark so that I could still get into research and other things in the morning. (After inhaling powersaw exhaust for most of the day I was useless at reading and researching in the evenings)!

Indeed a Latina spouse changes our lives forever afterward...... that is for sure!!!

    Loved this one

I've actually seen American tourists coming across the border in the summer with skis on the roof of their cars.

Apparently there's some magical line where winter never ends up here."

    Or this one

How do you guys keep the glaciers white during the summer? Do you have to paint them?'

Of course, I would always answer yes to this common yet amazing question.

Job creation I'd say, keeps us all working during the summer."

A friend of the family came back from Europe recently.
He went down the street (on the Gold Coast) to buy a carton of cigarettes and a bottle of Jim Beam
He received coins only in his change from $100
He mentioned that the two same items, if bought in Belgium would have
    cost him about $25.
Yep, visit Australia and get ripped off folks.......

You get the same but, advertised by :flagcanada: as a great time.
Just change brown to green forests. Or endless plains.

KiwiLand has the only Train I am interested in traveling.
The Trans Southern Alps from a central California environment
    to a rain forest.
@Sallyally talked me out of the dream.

I do like changes of ecosystems in short distances.
    Like Tide Pools.

The author, Ricketts, was "doc" to Steinbeck.

Since the sixties and civilization, those tide pools are now - a memory.
Empty of most life. A few barnacles, mussels, but . . .
