Why are Canadians so much more boring and less friendly.....than Australians?

    Interesting.......... very interesting indeed.........
One month from now I may be able to explain why I just said that but for the moment...... I have something of a challenge for you Aussies:

    http://www.politicalforum.com/index...ten-cms-3-or-4-inches-could-high-tide.543690/

If average ocean levels rose by eight to ten cms (3 or 4 inches) could high tide...

... rise by one meter in the Isthmus of Chignecto in Nova Scotia, Canada?

This question is logical because the geography of Canada's Bay of Fundy produces the world's highest tides. In my part of Nova Scotia in Guysborough County there is very little funnelling of tidal waters......... so high tide is only about one to one point five meters above low tide.

In the eastern area of the Bay of Fundy high tide levels are up by ten to fifteen meters.

But then again..... who was that diabolical fellow being quoted in post number one who was setting us up for something of a potential knock down plus drag out kerfuffle.................. (if it were not for the fact that it is actually difficult to offend some Canadians)........... (who incidentally also happen to have lots and lots of not so well behaved ancestors......... my grandmother's mom..... smoked a pipe quite often......... and didn't exactly have the most stable matrimonial situations?!?!)

I thank you immensely for this............ I knew that the tides in Anchorage were the second highest in North America but... what you wrote means they are really the second highest in the world?????

This is very useful information because.......... if a problem facing Canadians can be proven to be relevant to Americans..... it is a lot easier to raise the money and political will to tackle the problem!

    I used to live there.
It was fun fishing off the rocks on shore, fishing the incoming tide.
Every 10 minutes or so, you had to move up a rock.

I imagine that the sea level could rise that much.
We come third to the Bay of Fundy and Cook Inlet!

The king of all Australian tides occurs near the town of Derby in King Sound, in north-west Australia, at the end of March and again at the end of April each year. Derby's tides can reach up to 11.8 m, and are the second biggest tides in the world (the largest, clocked at 15 m, occur in the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia).May 1, 2002

Yep. Over fifty years, cigarettes have increased in price from two bob to thirty dollars a packet.
Wages have increased over that time too.
It can be argued that the increase in excise on tobacco is partly punitive too.

I dont think wages have risen recently...I mean say in the last ten years...
I can remember buying petrol when it was about 30c a litre...about the same as a glass of beer...
I think that was about mid 1980s..

    "What the figures show
Over the decade to the June quarter of 2018 (the latest figure available) the wage price index increased by 32 per cent.

Over the same period, inflation, as measured by the bureau's consumer price index, amounted to 23.4 per cent."

I think the article does suggest ambiguity...eg last five years growth was only 1.5%...
I noticed a Labor politician on the box pointing out to us that wages had not increased....
But then again, politicians dont lie, do they.....oops...sorry I forgot..theres an election soon....
I suppose it really depends on which "expert" you want to believe...

The fact check showed that wages have risen. Inflation has also risen.
