Why can't the market deliver healthcare at a low cost?

I wouldn't exclude business from purchasing it either. It's the only way I can see to get their money into it without creating a tax.

My pragmatic approach is not prejudiced by ideological dogma for or against government.

I merely recognize the superior paradigm that is demonstrated to work better in multiple advanced democracies.

I know of no alternative that offers comparable inclusiveness and cost efficiency in providing quality care - other than airy-fairy doctrinal confections, of course.

Well then you should dig into your savings.
Everybody needs to do their part to get you the system you want

So talk to your state government and get the ball rolling!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're not going to get what you want in a country where half the population thinks you're nuts! In a deep blue state, you can get them to do exactly what you want because the republicans have no power.

It's okay by me. Stay out.
But if you get insurance thru work they will make up your mind for you.
If not spend all you like.

Then great! You're talking about voluntary buying into this idea of yours. Which one of these places that have single payer or universal healthcare allows people to opt out and not suffer any consequences?

Almost all as far as I know will let you supplement.
Once it is complete there won't be any other insurance except for the rich. Why would you pay more for the same quality of care?
Do you know anyone on Medicare that doesn't take it because they want private insurance?
I'm sure there are some, but you probably don't know them, because there aren't many.

No, no, no... you know that "supplement" is not being able to opt out.

Why did you try such a stupid and obvious tact? You know as well as I do that it doesn't work like that.

    Try again, boss.

I'm the one that lets you buy into Medicare. Remember.
You can opt out. It's just gonna be real expensive when no one is left in the pool.

Then stop talking about supplement. I don't want anything to do with your idea. It's stupid and I don't want anything to do with it.

So sell your garbage idea with the realization that nobody is going to be forced to buy into it.

    and you can't.

Yeah, after you tried lying about how it's perfectly acceptable that I can get whatever I want, but only as a supplement to what you think I should be forced to pay for...

Have you ever heard of the term "intellectual honesty"? I'm pretty sure you have, and I'm also pretty sure you know you have none.

Sorry, I thought you were complaining about quality or coverage. But I guess you were just complaining. :)

I was complaining about how your stupid idea requires me buying into it, and you came back with "supplement" as in, I am free to get whatever I want, but only as a supplement to your stupid idea.

I think you're not being intellectually honest. I made a point of saying that I don't want to be forced into paying for your stupid idea, and you came back with "supplement".

Try being honest just just just once, if that's a possibility for you!

We will have single payer healthcare in this country within 10 years. You will be paying into it, just like you currently pay into Medicare and SS

If you don't like it don't buy it. It's not that hard to figure out.
I never said you would be forced to buy it.
Your problem is you have made up your mind on what you think it is.
I'm always honest. That's why I get under your skin.

Why the **** would we need supplements if Medicare is going to cover everyone's healthcare?

Well you could take someone like Melania. Medicare doesn't cover elective cosmetic surgery. She could buy a supplement.

Or,......patients have to pay a significant portion of their free medical care bill out of pocket

Excellent points! And it would help if Bernie would quit lying all the time.

CNN FACT CHECK: Sanders Has Been Lying About Health Care Spending For a Decade.

We don’t have “for profit” military, fire and police protection and disaster relief. The free market doesn’t work where you equally apply services to everyone regardless of their ability to pay.. It only works for the wealthy.
