Though it is a little true. I honestly do believe that people who FIGHT over religion have NO place in any civilized society, and little use in uncivilized ones and maybe if we just got rid of EVERYBODY who thinks religion is a proper reason to fight, and that means one way OR the other, we'd just all be lots better off. The true egotistical presumptuousness of the idea that the Creator of even this ONE tiny world, let alone a Universe truly vast beyond our comprehension (and then vast even beyond that according to the Hitchhikers Guide,) would in any way concern Himself about the opinions of whatever microbes might be on this ball of rock as to His nature and particularly how they felt about Him, may in fact be the only thing more truly beyond belief than that very vastness itself

 

You really have to wonder. People take something on faith and then are willing to kill for it. Makes you wonder what they would be willing to do if they KNEW their beliefs were true, and weren't just hoping based on a warm fuzzy feeling.

Parents make a leap of faith and then force their children to buy into the same crap before they can think.

That's another thing, cameras, they're everywhere now and I think they should REALLY be everywhere. They're cheaper than dirt and we could easily put them on every utility pole and even every street sign and the added cost wouldn't even be noticeable, then we could actually hire some cops to WATCH them, take them off of net porn detail maybe, or hook them to a supercomputer like in Person of Interest. Have them aid actual cops on the beat. 'Sir, could we help you in bringing this 18 wheeler into the park? The baby carriages are really dense this time of day, just pull it right over by those police cars for now."

Mind you there is NO privacy problem here. Not unless you don't think a passing policeman has a right to look at you, along with everyone else. You have NO reasonable expectation of privacy while you are in a public place, you never have and never will. Putting cameras out and watching people is totally legal, always will be and is a GOOD thing for everybody, unless you make your living on robbing people where it can't be seen

Finally, why don't we put tracker chips in everybody. Sure, the government would know where you were all the time, like having fallen down that ravine while hiking or trapped in that blizzard. It would also take our kids off of milk cartons and put them back in our homes, not in the Pervert's Penitentiary.

And yes, I'm totally serious, tell me the downside, I'm listening.

That's what civilization IS to a large extent, everybody watching each other, seeing that we leave each other alone.

If you can get a copy read the first few chapters of a really classic book by Jane Jacobs called "The Death and Life of Great American Cities" see what happened when they tried to design public places and dense residences with privacy as a first priority.

 

You'll need some rocket packs to lay down a proper perimeter before you get the sandwiches out. I hear the ants are murder in your area.

 

Such simple questions that can save many lives yet never answered.. Shameful and frightening, isn't it? Everyday citizens have answers that can solve many of the pains and sufferings others see everyday and everyday people are asking why nothing is being done about those things and everyday no one gets a real acceptable answer.

 

The thing that's always gotten to me is how quickly we adopt solutions that just about anyone can see are easily cirucumvented, just so long as those solutions involve bashing one or another group of people. Want to stop truck bombings? Kick all the Muslims out to the country, much easier than putting up some concrete posts, yes?
