Why did people vote for Trump?

Obviously, people voted for Trump because they liked what he had to say. This begs a question. During the election campaign, what did Trump say.?

Well, for one thing, he said, "Save Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security without cuts. You have to do it."

He also said, "I will direct the secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator."

Then he said, "We should not attack Syria but if they make the stupid move to do so, the Arab League, whose members are laughing at us, should pay!"

On CBS 60 Minutes he said regarding health care, "Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now."

"NATO is obsolete," Trump told ABC News in March 2016.

"We have a Fed that's doing political things. This Janet Yellen of the Fed." And he attacked Yellen during the first presidential debate in Hempstead, N.Y., claiming she was holding down interest rates as a political move to prop up the U.S. economy. He relentlessly attacked the Fed during his campaign.

Criticizing the Export-Import Bank, Trump said, "It's sort of a featherbedding for politicians and others, and a few companies."

He said countless times, "It is time to drain the swamp in Washington."

He added, "Why is @BarackObama spending millions to try and hide his records? He is the least transparent President--ever--and he ran on transparency."

He promised countless times to the glee of his devoted followers, "I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall."

Throughout his campaign and after he was elected, Trump lavished praise on Putin, even appearing on Russian television. He said, "I believe I'll get along fine with Putin."

In May 2014 he said, "If I decide to run for office, I’ll produce my tax returns, absolutely, and I would love to do that."

All that sounds really great. Gosh, even I would have voted for him ... if I had believed him. I didn't. Many recognized the promises as feckless, some even as impossible. How accurate were those who felt his promises were mere rhetoric, but his adoring admirers wanted to believe?

In March 2017, he embraced the House Republicans' American Health Care Act, which cut Medicaid by almost $840 billion over 10 years, and the bill also eliminated the Medicare entitlement in which the federal and state governments covered everyone eligible.

In a Wall Street Journal interview on Wednesday, Trump made a 180-degree turn on China. "They're not currency manipulators." During the campaign, China was a hot button issue. Now, according to Trump, they are allies trying to restrain North Korea, and President Xi is his friend. Trump said the two men had "developed a friendship."

"It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons," Trump said April 6 after ordering a 59 cruise missile raid on a Syrian airfield. Days later he dropped a MOAB on Afghanistan. He then threatened North Korea and dispatched a carrier strike force to the waters off the hermit kingdom. So much for his promise made during his inaugural address that he would avoid nation building and the "America First" doctrine. Taking care of the country first in terms of jobs, health care, and tax reform was a powerful magnet to his base and senior advisor Bannon was the main force behind the "America First" doctrine. Bannon has been marginalized. Breitbart labeled him, "dead strategist walking."

The Republican President failed in getting the Republican Congress to pass a bill that would repeal and replace Obamacare. Health care and the promise to take care of everyone is alive and well in rhetoric from the White House but dead in Congress, providing a stumbling block to another promise he made, tax reform. He also has failed to sign one significant piece of legislation from a Congress controlled by his party.

On NATO, “I said it was obsolete,” Trump said Wednesday at a press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said. “It’s no longer obsolete.”

Regarding Janet Yellen, “I like her, I respect her,” Trump told the Wall Street Journal.

Regarding the Export-Import Bank, Trump recently said, “Actually, it’s a very good thing," Trump said. "And it actually makes money."

Trump promised to clean up Washington, but once in office he broke 40 years of tradition and refused to disclose his income tax returns, and he kept his financial holdings, making himself a Washington insider.

As for Obama and the lack of transparency, on Friday, the Trump administration said it would reverse Obama's policy and keep the list of White House visitors secret. In addition, financial disclosure and salary information for administration officials were removed from the White House website.

The centerpiece of Trump's immigration policy was his pledge to build a wall along the U.S. southern border and have Mexico pay it. In his proposed spending plan for the 12 months beginning Oct. 1, Trump included $1.5 billion in U.S. taxpayer funds to begin construction. Mexico's contributions are not mentioned. Senate Majority Leader McConnell would not commit to that funding.

As for the fantasy-filled dream that Russia would help us out with ISIS -- I still find it hard to believe that Trump's fawning fans believed that whopper, "Right now, we’re not getting along with Russia at all," Trump said. "We may be at an all-time low in terms of a relationship with Russia."

As for his oft-repeated promise to reveal his tax returns, we all know how that has turned out. There won't be any such revelations because Trump still thinks his tax returns were an election issue, or so he says.

Many in his base are unaware that Trump has reversed himself on nearly every promise he made to them that enticed their vote. Those who are aware that many of his promises have been broken but are too stubborn to admit they were flummoxed argue that they are happy their President is flexible.

    When will they ever learn?

At least Trump's adoring admirers can say they got flummoxed by the best, the master of con and the art of the deal.

All true. But to answer question, for about 75% of them, hate, pure and simple. It's undeniably obvious they couldn't care less about literally anything else; country, policy, their own morals or principles, their own daughters, nothing, just give them the hate.

That's what the right has devolved into after decades of racist, hate filled right wing media indoctrination.

Trump wasn't Hillary which pretty much ensured his election. I hated Trump in the Republican primary but I voted for him anyway because of supreme court vacancies. We don't need any more lesbians on the supreme court.

SEOUL, South Korea — China said on Saturday that it was suspending all imports of coal from North Korea as part of its effort to enact United Nations Security Council sanctions aimed at stopping the country’s nuclear weapons and ballistic-missile program.

The ban takes effect on Sunday and will last until the end of the year, the Chinese Commerce Ministry said in a brief statement posted on its website on Saturday. Chinese trade and aid have long been a vital economic crutch for North Korea, and the decision strips North Korea of one of its most important sources of foreign currency.

    Everybody knows that, right.

    Here is the link. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/18/world/asia/north-korea-china-coal-imports-suspended.html?_r=0

Notice the date of the article. Feb. 18, 2017.

Here is an excerpt from another article.

Washington (CNN) -- US President Donald Trump says China has turned a fleet of coal-carrying cargo ships back to North Korea this week, describing it as a "big step" towards cracking down on the rogue state.

Here is the link to that article. http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/12/politics/trump-china-north-korea-coal/

Without exception, every last president of the united states has demonstrated a ready willingness to engage in dishonesty of whatever measure is deemed necessary in order to be elected. They will say whatever is necessary in order to achieve that goal. Liberal or conservative, democrat or republican, it makes no difference. Donald Trump is not the first, nor will he be the last.

If you believe those that align with the liberal ideology are not filled with hate, you are quite incorrect. Those that embrace the liberal ideology have demonstrated a significant degree of hatred themselves, despite claiming to be an ideology of love and tolerance.

Basic bargaining maneuvers to get concessions or changes from the several players like China or NATO. I know you guys want to catch Trump in his words, but it's really petty and you look silly. He's way ahead of you. Talk about getting flummoxed! Oh and Trump isn't done. He can change his mind about NATO, China or anyone else if he wants something else from them. It's that easy.

Kind of Ironic that if the question was "what the hell is wrong with Democrats these days"

My answer would be for about 75% of them, hate, pure and simple. It's undeniably obvious they couldn't care less about literally anything else; country, policy, their own morals or principles, their own daughters, nothing, just give them the hate.

    Quite an interesting world eh?

75%? Do you have a link to substantiate that statistic --- or is it based on hatred for people who don't hold your Stalinist values?

Trump won because this was a change election. Eight years of Obama and compliant media destroyed the Democrats' appeal and Trump was able to talk to the people with no filter.

Trump constantly hammered at the economy which has been meager under Obama. I am sure a lot of people voted for him for the SCOTUS judge, as well.

We got Gorsuch, got rid of the TPP, are bombing ISIS, took over north korea's coal trade with china, and a bunch of other stuff that is equally either impressive, or...not.

At the end of the day, Hillary, thus clintons are gone, and that's good enough even if Trump did nothing else.

Trump was elected by less than 27% of the eligible electorate.

Over 73% of the eligible American electorate either voted against him or sat it out.

So, he conned about 1/4 of America and gamed the Electoral College.

Almost 3/4 either voted against him or sat it out. It is what it is.

Republicans nominated Trump because he was the loudest voice in too large a crowd of nominees. That's what happens when a party has a deep bench. The Democrats have a deep bench of octogenarians. Perhaps Jurassic Park will swing for some stands to keep the Democrat bench upright.

People voted for Trump in the general because he wasn't Hillary and some people didn't show up to oppose Trump because the alternative was Hillary.

Why would blacks show up for Hillary when she called them super-predators to sell the mass incarceration of black teens. Wonder what they were thinking when Hillary rolled out her anti-mass-incarceration platform.

So, blacks were out the door. The Democrats rolled out their strategy to blow off their white working class base in 2011. The job was complete in 2016. They opened the borders to masses of illegals to lure their budding Hispanic base and crushing the wages of the working class.

The Democrats lost Florida because teaming up with the genocidal Castro brothers didn't sit well with Cuban Americans who lost their families.

PA and OH are usually driven by Philadelphia County and Cuyahoga Count, respectively. The Black vote in Cleveland was light and the suburban white working class went the other way. No doubt the situation in Philly was similar. Throw in the Coal miners in the border of OH and PA and you have a wonderful situation. I can't remember the last time PA went for a Republicans and Obama had OH locked in 2008 and 2012.

Hatred was the driver for the election ,,, Hillary's hatred for blacks and the contempt held by Obama for the US that drove him to embrace the genocidal maniacs to the south.
