Why did trump lose?

Discussion in 'Elections & Campaigns' started by Natty Bumpo, Mar 20, 2021.

?

Why did Trump lose?

  1. 7 million more Americans preferred his opponent, giving him 306 electoral votes.

    92.0%
  2. GOP governors, attorneys general, secretaries of state, judges, etc. colluded in a vast conspiracy.

    8.0%
  3. His goons who attacked Congress were poorly disciplined and incompetent.

    8.0%
  4. The goons' failure to lynch Pence was the ultimate determinant.

    4.0%
Multiple votes are allowed.

There were a multitude of difference reasons.

Biden was able to drum up the Black vote, since he was Vice President under Obama, and they used that to their advantage in ad campaigns.
Appointing Kamala Harris for Vice Presidential candidate drummed up more enthusiasm from the progressive base, many of whom were women who wished she could have been president. Maybe it was just ignorance, or maybe they harbored a hope that Biden, being the oldest president in history, might die, potentially leaving her in line to succeed him as president.

The workers up in the Rust Belt lost much of their enthusiasm for Trump. They gave him a chance, and they did not see enough change fast enough. This was a traditionally Democrat-voting area of the country, but they basically gave the finger to Democrats in the previous election because they felt ignored by Democrats, and were looking to Trump's position on trade policies.
Biden also was able to draw some amount of appeal from this group, since he was originally from Pennsylvania.

Then there was the full throttle media campaign to make everything that Trump did look bad. That certainly must have had an effect.
The media is probably going to lose any credibility after this, but at least they scored their political victory, which was the aim.

And finally, there was some election fraud. That wasn't the main factor, but it could have just been one more factor tilting things over the edge.

Lastly demographic factors have been in operation in, turning several traditionally dependable Republican states, like Arizona, Georgia, and Virginia, into swing states.

They did not elect Biden as president.

They elected Biden as a puppet under Harris.

Some believe Obama is actually running things from behind the scenes. Susan Rice was Obama's former right-hand helper, and she has now been appointed director of domestic policy in the White House.
Obama now lives just a couple miles away from the White House.
Rice is probably the one effectively in charge of running things, and if she had any questions early on or needed advice, she probably went to Obama.

I missed her being appointed....not surprised though. She toes the Dem line and doesn't mind getting her hands dirty.

The Democrats probably want him to lose popularity. Then they can install someone else in his place. He was only there to cement a place and prepare the way for someone else.
They only needed Biden for this election because they knew Trump was going to be so difficult to beat.

Biden will build momentum and then endorse another candidate for President in the next election.
Assuming he is not too unpopular, and the economy does not tank, the voters will probably elect a President from the same party. That is the typical pattern.

Trump lost because he left Assange in prison. None of the governors, judges or attourneys general were ever going to stick their necks out as far as they would've needed to to prove election fraud knowing they could still get 'Assanged' even if Trump won. So, Trump kinda handed them the steal with that... and steal they did.

A pretty new thread and already 4 total idiots voted. No wonder we are so at odds with each other. To many people living an alternate reality with alternate facts.

Obama was really ineffectual at being President when he WAS President. Why do you think he will run things better from "behind the scenes". Are you so obsessed with conspiracies you think everyone does them?

It doesn't matter what Biden's son did. He didn't want to be president.

It’s a pity that more Dems didn’t listen and start chugging Chlorox. Frankly, if cnn and msnbc, abc told everyone to drink it, the sheep would chugg it.

The easy answer, Trump lost independents. He won them in 2016, 46-42 over Hillary with 12% voting third party against both major party candidates. He lost them in 2020 to Biden 54-41 with 5% voting third party. That a 17 point swing, from a plus 4 to a minus 13. The Republican Party has always been the smaller of the two major parties since FDR, they must win independents or lose the election. The question becomes why did Trump lose independents?

Perhaps Trump never really had them. 54% of independents voted against him in 2016, 42% for Hillary, 12% against both Trump and Hillary. 57% of all independents had an unfavorable view of Trump in 2016, he lucked out with Hillary as his opponents as 70% of independents had a negative view of her. Questions 10 and 11.

    https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/cumulus_uploads/document/l37rosbwjp/econTabReport_lv.pdf

In 2020, 61% of independents disliked Trump, only 34% disliked Biden, Question 54 and 47. So the tables were turned on Trump from being the less disliked in 2016 to being the most disliked in 2020. Hence the 17 point swing in Biden's and the Democrats favor.

    https://docs.cdn.yougov.com/nzc8dt85gn/econTabReport.pdf

So independents dislike of Trump was about the same in both 2016 and 2020. It was the dislike of the Democratic candidate that dropped tremendously from 70% to 34%. It wasn't Trump's policies that independents disliked about him, they were fairly split on those, for some, against some, indifferent to others. So if not policy, it had to be in my opinion his personality. A personality independents never liked.

Trump lost because independents never liked him much, he lost because independents hated his rude personality, his childish antics of name calling and throwing temper tantrums, his 3rd grade schoolyard bullying tactics. Trump lost mainly among independents because of his very unpresidential behavior which grated on them for four years. They opted for the only adult in the room or the one who behaved and acted like a grownup.

    My two cents.

I think that Trump lost because he made his Presidency about himself rather than about his administrations accomplishments. As such, his administrations remarkable list of accomplishments were discarded and buried under every off handed remark he made, which the Democrat media gladly distorted and pumped into every home and ear in the nation, 24/7. Then he sealed the deal for the Democrat media by his appalling interruptions during the two debates with Biden. Even with a completely biased media, Trump could have won. In short, Trump cost Trump the election in spite of having won the fight. The finishing disgrace was his insistent narrative that the election was stolen at the ballot box, followed by the storming of the Capitol, the ugliness of which in effect exceeds his administration having made America more secure, stronger, more just and more prosperous.

Bullcrap! It is a payoff for what Joe did.

Hunter was no use to anybody. Can you seriously say that a $3.5M wire to any of Trump's children while he was in office would be a non issue? What if it came from the richest woman in Russia? The widow of one of the most powerful men in Russia? You are not serious are you?

Libocrats went nuts over the rumor(Never true) that Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen had once visited Prague. This is real money changing hands from a Russian Oligarch the son of the sitting VP!
