Question: Why do so many Muslims misunderstand Islam - for example, Q8:12 clearly says to behead, but some Muslims misunderstand and don't approve of beheading people. Why? Why do so many Muslims misunderstand that a man is supposed to beat his wife (per Q4:34) if she displeases him (he "excels" her, Q4:34 says)? Why do so many Muslims misunderstand Mohammad when he said to kill gays (they aren't killing gays)? Why do so many Muslims misunderstand the Qur'an when it says to chop off hands and feet (they don' t do that)? The Qur'an is the literal word of god, yet they misunderstand it. Me, I think it's because they are too moral to understand/follow it 100%, they can't follow it as written, and they don't want to break the law. If they get their wish of having Sharia Law, then they can legally follow the Qur'an, and you'll see way less misunderstandarders. The Islamic State does not misunderstand their country's name-sake belief system - it's the "moderate" Muslims who are the misunderstanders. But what about you? Why do you think so many Muslims misunderstand Islam (for example, why do they misunderstand that people who have sex outside of marriage are supposed to be stoned to death?)
