Why do women and men view rape against each other differently?

Instead of hijacking Libhaters thread, I decided to make a different post since it is kind of different from his original question.

    On another forum a news article was posted about how 3 African women raped men in order to get their semen as part of a ritual. The common responses from men were;

    ''Why can't that happen here''?
    ''Every mans dream''
''A man cannot be raped by a woman''

On the flip side, you never here women making these comments.

Also a man can ejaculate during a rape, but if a woman climaxes during a rape, it's not rape.

    Explain both points please.

    People are, in general, idiots.

It is clear though that there are a whole range of deeply ingrained biological and social differences between men and women when it comes to sex and the relationships ultimately formed around it. Notably the position of the male being the more powerful, dominant one in a relationship. Clearly rape is more commonly committed by men on women, for a mixture of physical, psychological and practical reasons I think are fairly obvious.

There also appears to be, despite social structures that desperately try to mask it, a fundamental pack-animal instinct within humans that lead men to favour sex with as many females as possible (the specifics being somewhat secondary) where as women with tend towards favouring on partner (at a time, at least).

All of this (including my very first statement) will combine to produce the contradictory attitudes many people express in response to such situations.

I guess that's one way to look at it. This might be why some men will rib other guys if they complain about being sexually harrassed. Also I think it would be harder for men to come forward if they were raped for fear of being called a wuss or punk. Now I know that men being raped by women is extremly rare but it's happened.

Just curious, but how is it possible for a woman to rape a man? The so-called victim in a rape act is considered to be in total fear of the upcoming or ongoing rape act. I doubt someone (a man in this case) is capable of getting an erection since his fear overpowers any possibility of him producing an erection.

    It is apparently possible; http://www.springerlink.com/content/t60447681m7531l2/

Also, there are varying legal definitions of the word rape an not all require penetration.

Anyway, part of the problem being highlighted here is the assumption by many that men can't be raped (or sexually assaulted in any way).

I think the common point in rape between the 2 genders is how much feeling of uncertainty the receiving party feels during the action. I propose that most sex in schools are not consential but not a rape either, because the receiving party doesn't feel threatened beyond his/her control. A post-traumatic stress disorder has to form after the act, to define it as rape.

By the way, the OP story is very interesting and somewhat common, it even went into a few TV films here in the US, such as the TV episode "Pregnancy Pact". It is well documented, that a very common traditional custom between young women has been to form a group/gang based on their motherly instincts, and then raise their children as a group, instead of individual mothers.

Evolutionarily this is proven to strengthen not only the individual mothers, but the children too, the most optimal start for the children's survival. Common between apes when no strong males are present too.

People or animals, in such organization, the mothers don't care what sperm they get and how, they will obtain the sperm in a predatory fashion, even if it is by violance. There are no victims though, because it will be hard to find a male who would complain, even if threatened first.

I guess I'm having a problem with the idea that its possible for a man to get raped by a woman. I don't know of any man who would not welcome, or would be unwilling to engage in the sexual advances of a woman, (unless of course, they had a headache at the time). To call the sex act between the two a rape is in my mind, ridiculous.

This is actually VERY true. Many crime cases in Los Angeles courts pose it as a defence in rape trials, that the perpetrator (transgender/homosexual) would not be guilty of rape, because their (heterosexual) victim's dick got up in their hands.

A heterosexual male (including myself) would fight to total exhaustion against a homosexual rapist, but the dick's reflexes will remain independent of the fight, victim or not.

So let's say you are happily married and faithful and a woman aggressively comes on to you without warning. Would you not resist?

    Another scenario;

Let's say the woman looked like Rosie Odonnel.... still wouldn't put up a fight?

Are you saying coming on in a manner in which to rape me? Regardless of whether I resisted or not, I still don't see how the rape act can possibly take place.

I wouldn't put up a fight, I'd just shoot her.

Doesn't it depend on the definition of rape? I don't think a man can be raped by a woman just by the legal definition of rape. Rape is unwanted sexual penetration. What does a woman have that can penetrate? Nothing at all - so how is rape possible in this instance?

I don't think its surprising that a man can ejaculate or a woman has an orgasm during a rape. The body will do what the body will do. You can't control it.

No, it's not. Rape is any form of unwanted sexual activity, not just sexual penetration.

Over here that is true, but I am unsure if the law is the same in the US.

Here's a scenario for you then. A woman who you know but is your friend comes over to your place for some drinks but puts a drug in yours. You wake up completely tied up and helpless. She then proceeds to rape you. <<< MOD EDIT: OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE REMOVED >>>

Let me answer this too. I guess you just have to ride it out then. It only begins to get scary when she refuses to untie the ropes at the end or brings a knife at you. But even then: do you prefer your death in a nursing home where disgrantled staff pisses on you, or do you prefer it at the hands of a beautiful shapely female friend?

Are you saying that a woman has nothing to penetrate with? Maybe we should rewise the word "penetrate" in your legal definition with the word "insert-surround". There is a market for dildo products which wouldn't exist if women didn't penetrate. Are you saying that it makes a difference if the dick is pushed in or the dick is sat upon? I really don't understand your differentiation.

It would be interesting to find out the psychology of physical rape, but if it is about post traumatic stress disorder, then I guess we men are just better equipped with dealing with unwanted usages of our dicks.

Women do rape men psychologically rather than physically, and I guess that is as high of a violation as what women may feel physically.

cRAZY! In this day and age, I'd want to know where the sperm is coming from. These ladies from africa were into that voodoo superstition and thought the sperm had magical powers.

Where they come from? Well everyone's sex education is different, but my theory is that sperms are a result of the woman making her body interact with the man's reflexes. It is possible to measure exatly how much work this takes for a woman, if you count the time from her climax to his. What is your theory?
