Socialism takes away your freedom and kills your spirit.

People cease to be individuals. They’re just nameless, faceless cogs in the collective.

Nice word salad. IOW, you don't know enough about economics to know why collective production doesn't work.

quite the opposite.....the military was working with private industry and private schools to develop projects, and the internet was created to more easily transfer information between the folks working.

Govt was buying from the private sector, not owning the means of production. ]

The Govt doing something, in and of itself isn't socialism...

Ideological pap. If we want people to reject socialism, we have to explain why it won't work.

China embraced theft, and adopted state run crony capitalism.

Even if the Chinese government allows a product or service to be produced or sold in China, the government will dictate how it shall and shall not be used.

In Vermont, everybody knows that I am a socialist and that many people in our movement, not all, are socialists." Sanders- In a speech he gave at the National Committee for Independent Political Action in New York City on June 22, 1989, reprinted in the December 1989 issue of the socialist publication Monthly Review:

    Sounds like he is one

    What is "unbridled capitalism?"

Anyway, capitalism with weak wage growth and no safety net leads to socialism and the fascist reaction to socialism.

Not in early America, where there was little/no government.

let's see what the word 'freedom' means.

it emanates from nobles rights where the nobles didn't want a monarch to press on them.

(an ordinary person wants be wanted, not free)

the notion of spirit comes from the Ancient Greeks and means you are a philosopher.

(and how many are here being philosophers, eh?)

Government is always an instrument for suppression. Government is a bad necessary thing.
Big Government is the worst form of government and it is never necessary.

    IOW, socialism sucks.

No, fascism is a reaction to socialism and other efforts to confiscate wealth. It always enlists the support of capitalists who have lost faith in liberal democratic government to protect private property.
Not what happened in Italy, Germany, Spain, Chile, etc.
    Propaganda Alert!

    1) It's a partnership between large corps, backed by the State...it's the third way.

I suspect you're confusing the size of government with income redistribution.

Government run economies like socialism produce things that the government wants. If they want tanks but not a lot of toilet paper, they put the resources into tanks. They worry about the demands of the people but only to the level required to keep them moderately quiet, not to satisfy any consumer demands. In a capitalist free private enterprise economy there would be a number of entrepreneurs who would see the long lines for a shortage of toilet paper and say, "I think I can make some money here producing and selling toilet paper," and would get in the business of supplying the personal demands of people. This would not and cannot happen in socialism.

The entrepreneur makes a ton of money and people are more satisfied. Then the entrepreneur gets taxed on his earnings and now the government can still build tanks. So in this system society has both tanks and ample toilet paper. But with socialism there are tanks but just a tad of toilet paper.

Why do you either conflate or separate socialism with military dictatorships. In a sense it is like comparing apples with bicycles.

Collective ownership hasn't "tamed" capitalism, but wealth and income redistribution have.
