s/he knows the answer but won't admit that I caught him/her telling an untruth when he/she claimed that Reagan was not president when it first was introduced

here is the undeniable fact (and given my college suite mate was part of the white house counsel's office, I damn well knew where PRESIDENT REAGAN stood on the waiting period legislation)

REAGAN OPPOSED THE BRADY BILL WHEN HE WAS PRESIDENT

Nice of you to admit the sun rises in the east too.

He also supported a number of gun control bills, going back to 1967.

Why don't you look it up and maybe that will give you time to think of the relevance.

Since the president who did sign the bill was... the president.

how much money would you like to lose. I will bet you what ever you net worth is. but that won't happen since you won't play/ maybe we can do this. I will supply my name to a moderator with my suite mate's name and I will send him a copy of the Yale student directory year 1980-81. He can google my suite mate's name and determine if I am truthful. If I fail to do that, the mods can ban me. If I am correct, you are actually banned for good rather than putting "banned" under your handle

    care to play?

uh that was Clinton which proves again you are evading.

you are trying to pretend that the only reason why Reagan didn't support the brady bill when he was in office was you ERRONEOUSLY claimed it wasn't introduced until after he left office. I have PROVEN beyond ANY DOUBT that your claim was completely contrary to fact.

what is amazing is how he cannot just admit he was wrong/ the thread gets cluttered up with evasions and diversions and we all know that Reagan opposed the Brady bill when it introduced during REAGAN's PRESIDENCY

FWIW, found an article on this. Here are some excerpts:

"President Ronald Reagan, a Republican and proud member of the National Rifle Association, was celebrated by the gun lobby for steadfastly maintaining his opposition to handgun control even after he was critically wounded in a 1981 assassination attempt that left a bullet “an inch from my heart,” as he noted. After recovery, President Reagan went further and called for the abolition of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the enforcer of federal gun safety laws.

Two years after he left office, Mr. Reagan surprised the nation by endorsing the proposed Brady Law that established federal background checks of firearm buyers for criminal records and histories of mental disturbance.

...No less important was Mr. Reagan’s endorsement in 1994 of the assault weapons ban.
...His support was significant in the eventual passage of the law in 1993.

    ...Correction: October 14, 2015
An earlier version of this post misstated the year in which the Brady Law was passed. It was 1993, not 1991
    .

I was voted in as an elector for Reagan during his first time. I declined over the gun issue. And, when Reagan became president, he signed a law so that civilians could no longer legally convert their weapons to full auto. Reagan, like Trump, was a former Democrat (or maybe a RINO), but all history has taught me is that those who like to frame this issue in the context of constitutional rights have failed to educate the politicians.

The bottom line: Either unalienable Rights are just that and given by a Creator (your God, whomever you deem that to be) OR your rights are granted by government.

if you examine the thread, you will see that she/he is unable to actually accept proof that destroys the erroneous nonsense he or she has posted. s/he started out saying Reagan couldn't have supported the Brady bill while in office because it was FIRST introduced a couple years after he left office. I proved that was incorrect and rather than a concession, we get two dozen diversions and evasions and completely irrelevant chaff. It reminds me of the tactic of a squid. When a squid is being attacked it sprays ink hoping that throws off its pursuer

People say a lot of BS, but not all, have the 'Stones' as you say to back it up, or the 'Stones' to come clean....amounts to the same thing.

I was the person who told you.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

So I can't really be seen as obfuscating something can I shug?

lets take a poll. You tried to claim that reagan couldn't support the brady bill because it was not introduced until he was out of office

I proved it was first introduced when he was president

you evaded and obfuscated and tried to pretend that the BRADY ACT introduced in congress in 1987 (will you even admit that Reagan was president then?) was not really the BRADY BILL that was passed under Clinton and introduced when GHWB was president.

on another board, there is an award they give a poster each year called the black knight award. it goes to a poster who continues to stick to an argument no matter how badly that argument has been hacked apart-much like the black knight in monty python's Holy Grail. on this issue, I think we have an obvious winner. The silly argument that Reagan couldn't have supported the Brady Bill or Act or proposed law etc because it wasn't introduced until AFTER he left office has been hewn asunder and all that remains is for the headless, legless, and armless argument to bleed on us

I, of course, grew up on Monty Python. Funny it seem more relevant on this forum and in the political landscape of late than it did to me then. The exchange you just had reminded me of the Dead Parakeet' sketch.

We are simply not seeing the black market to sustain widespread firearms ownership in well-regulated societies.
They have PLENTY of drugs, though.

No, its not an inalienable right, where do you get that idea from? The RtBA is only implied by the 2A, and only in reference to restrictions of Federal laws. And that dude is not generally considered a founder in any event.

AND, all rights, even the right to life, are in fact alienated by the government all the time. Its the basis of our criminal legal system. It just needs due process, which includes the creation of legally valid laws.

Guns follow the drug trade to both maintain market control and a tool to acquire the funds for consumption. Want to make and keep making money...free gun with each kilo.
