Comet or mercury Comet was a car, also. Not a very good one at that.
Went on to become a Ford Mercury. Yeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaw.
The Comet was originally planned as an Edsel model.
    Which begs the Question :

What Motorcycle model could be the equivalent of an Edsel { Notoriously
    problematic car model } ?
Frankly ... I need to give it some thought.Right off the top of my head,
no Motorcycle model instantly comes to mind.

Me either, though I've heard that most Chinese made bikes are problematic in a multitude of ways. So glad I didn't buy that Chinese made enduro I had my eyes on.

Well then you heard a load of bull.Metrics are about THE most reliable
motorcycles made.Triumphs especially Bonnyvilles were trouble back in
the 70's. Harley Davidson was a total bust when AMF bought it and
    took over in the 70's
BMW aren't all that. { Go to YouTube } and plug in - Chris Harris motorcycle -.
He's a certified BMW mechanic { out of his home garage }.

Stop and think about that. When Harley wasn't importing Foreign or Japanese
motorcycles parts { like brakes, forks, carbs, shocks, electrics and wheels } under
AMF ... their bikes were crap.Almost went under.
Harley does import all those Japanese parts for their American Made Bikes.
Which is still a dirty little secret.

Ok, but that has nothing to do with the poor quality of Chinese bikes... Chinese anything for that matter.

Just look around and see how many old metrics there are. In fact,it is
common knowledge that Japanese steel is of higher quality than American
    steel.

I wouldn't argue about Japanese bikes... I love them, and have no real desire to own an American made bike other than a few models made by Victory and some smaller manufacturers.

The Comet was no more and no less than Mercury's version of the Ford Falcon.

That must be why so many Japanese trucks rotted to powder in a few years, then?

Somewhat of a fair point... my Uncle bought a Toyota truck in the late 80's, then passed it on to his sons. Several years later we saw that truck driving around... the body was rusted all to hell, but it was still running!

As fast as say a Pinto or Maverick or even Gremlin.
That was probably one area { rusting } that was the least of Edsel's problem.
    What's yourn excuse.

Can't argue that them Luv Trucks were kind of a joke.My old man had one.
A Toyota. But then I inherited later my Old man's Ford F-150.He kept it in
immaculate shape however it seemed luggish going up a hill.
Like it had no real torque.Probably badly needed a tune-up.
I bought a brand spankin' new mazda Pickup B2000.I traded it within the
first 2 weeks. There was a problem with the shift mechanism. It had like 100
miles on it when I bought it.I'll never buy a demo vehicle again.
All it takes is for one Female to test drive and grind them gears on a
manual.Even if constant mesh { like most motorcycles } the reverse gear
    is not synchronized.

Until recently, a Japanese truck with serious rust after only 2-3 years was common.

Have you been drinking bong water again?

It's a little TOO much. But then so is the Rune.It all depends on how it rides.
If it's really smooth with good roll-on and solid as a rock on the Interstate then
It's a winner. If all that Aerodynamics results in reduced buffeting then that's a
huge plus.Too many Motorcycles dudes are interested in just one thing.
How Kool their Ride Looks and sounds. To me that's a Cracker mentality.
Kinda like a Football coach who in one glance deteremines how fitting a
kid is as football player.Or a Basketball coach. In todays scenario that means
the Great Bob Cousy { Houdini of the Hardwood } would never have cut it.

Well what do you know. Seems - Men's Journal - ran a section on all kinds of
stuff for men from running and camping gear to bicycles and motorcycles and
    cars.
Bergman 650 ABS got a mention { half page }.Calling the scoot " one of the
best kept secrets of the two-wheeled world.A big 638 cc engine whooshes the
Burgman along like a big boy bike. "
Not to be confused with a small 638 cc engine, heaven forbide.
At $10,999 why Pu**yfoot around. It's like going to Baskin Robbins and
deciding on sherbert.Which may sometime soon be a flavor at the
Ice Cream shop.I'll kindly have a double scoop of Burgman and gladly
    pay you Tuesday.

I don't ride my motorcycle to work often, but when I do, I feel as though I'm on a mini vacation. It's not a struggle for survival because I don't ride like some stupid little punk on a Yamaha R6 or something.

Arlen Ness is the design inspiration behind Victory Motorcycles and he's okay. I've meet Ness before and he's a great person (at least from my limited experience) but I'm not all that crazy about his design tastes. He likes a lot of "bodywork" and Victory Motorcycles reflect that while I prefer stripped down bobbers and choppers. What the hey, different strokes for different folks.

When I ride to work not much changes but my ride home often takes 2-3 times longer because I find much more interesting roads to travel. LOL

Arlen Ness is just pizazz. He's had influence with Victory dating back 10 years
ago.In fact, had an earlier Victory model { overpriced }.I went to the nearest Victory
dealer about 10 years ago.Spent like half a morning the second time.
The owner even showed me his blueprint for the new store he was gonna
eventually build some day.I took one of the Victory for a test ride and kinda liked it.
It had a much lighter feel in the front than my VTX 1800.But like Harley dealers, they
refused to even consider any trades with a Metric. So I couldn't trade-in my Honda
VTX 1800 for like a Vegas or Kingpin model.
Ness models averaged around $ 19,ooo where the same model w/o all the
    ness crap were $15,ooo.

This past Saturday I had a great ride into the big city on my Rune.I decided
to get back home instead stick around and have lunch.I was making really great
time { it was an ideal day.Low 80's and no wind and blue sky } when I came across the
same exact street crossing about 6 weeks ago.A Funeral.A Funeral where the
cops blocked off an important section of the highway. It was like a Funeral/Parade.
I thought maybe it was one them Cop Funerals. In that funeral I shut the bike off
and waited and then followed behind. The procession had a long line of Bikers
and I knew where they were going. To the new Funeral site that was built
as a dedication for kentucky soldiers.Following behind at about 30-35 mph.
This one on Saturday was about as slow.I hate that.
I was really peeved at first.I musta just missed the cut off.If I was like at the
light just a few minutes before,I woulda missed the cop car blocking off
traffic and getting out of his car to hand signal.I kept thinking ...
    Jeeeeeeeeeeesus Christ.Everybody Dies.Everybody.
    Why must a really nice day and ride be disturbed { 15 minutes at least }
because some person died.Somebody I did not know or even met.
It really isn't fair.I'm all about fairness.
Which is more than a big reason I can't cotton Harley owners.
The treat metric owners like spilled food.If that.

So...getting stuck behind a funeral procession is, somehow, caused by Harley riders?! SERIOUSLY?!
