Let me "ask" you something: Since the year 1781 - or was it 1789? - we are watching the weather with scientific methods in our area here. This year was the warmest year since 1781. November - what's normally a period full of rain here - was as dry as a not existing rainfall in a wasted land. And now explain me please how to do war to win against this and similiar problems worldwide. What for heaverns sake the superpowers in this world are speaking about? The self-satisfaction to be able to kill but not to be able to live?

They work hard, live frugally, don't watch reality tv and don't whine about every little thing.

One crucial strength of Germany is its new found soft power ....

The wild, decadent ways of the Weimar era are alive again in Berlin - Wall Street Journal

    Quote:
Today, with the city's post-Berlin Wall reconstruction nearly complete in physical and emotional terms, there are signs that the wild, wicked Berlin of the 1920s has returned. The city's avant-garde art scene is flourishing; stars like Olafur Eliasson and Daniel Richter now call Berlin home. (Chinese artist Ai Weiwei accepted a post at the Berlin University of the Arts after his imprisonment last year.) World-class filmmaking has returned to the famed Studio Babelsberg; soundstages where Fritz Lang and Josef von Sternberg worked are now being used by notable subversives like the Wachowskis and Quentin Tarantino. The contemporary nightlife scene is unmatched in its enthusiasm for all-hours partying and sheer volume of venues and events--many inspired by a past golden age.

    What!!!!
Germany let its biggest speculator banks FAIL and bailed banks less exposed. It taught a lesson if you want to gamble heavily you are on your own. In this country we bailed the biggest violators and most connected. Guess who is doing better?

I think that's the republican health care plan there. Either that or an illegal worker employed by a rich republican. I think he has to work for another 6 months in order to pay his boss back for the luxury accommodations.

No German is able to understand the american problems with health care. We have a health care systems since much more than a hundred years. As far as I know costs health care in the USA twice the money per person as in Germany ($7538 to $3737 'kaufkraftbereinigt') and in 2008 the USA spended 16% of the BIP for health care while we spended 10.5% of the BIP for health care in this year. And nearly everyone in Germany is protected from our health care system.

Richdom cannot be the reason to vote for republicans - otherwise the republicans never would win any election. Rich people are always in the minority in all countries in the world.

The man who made this bed is an experienced man - he's for sure not an idiot ... or someone else had helped him. I don't know the reason why he lives in this way. To my own shame I have to accept that it's meanwhile a long row of years since I spoke the last time longer with an urban vagrant or a tramp.

Night clubs and health care giveaways qualify a nation as a superpower?

It should be added that all health indicators are better in Germany than the US.
    Life expectancy etc....

We are in average meanwhile about 40 years old - so we are the "eldest" nation in the world. The USA is 25 years in average. This means we have automatically much more problems with health and all life indicators. Could be your informations are not reliable ... or the american situation is really much more worse than I'm able to imagine in the moment.

From my point of view the USA is only one of lots of nations and empires in the river of no return. Health care is more important because this is a question of the quality of life while "Night Clubs" are completly superflous at all. A campfire is the best night club.

Germany, Europe's reluctant Goliath, is hiding its true strength

    Quote:
Everyone agrees: the future of Europe lies in German hands. Berlin is now the de facto capital of the European Union, the place where the crucial decisions are taken. They speak about this shift in Brussels and Paris and certainly in Athens, Rome and Madrid. Everywhere in fact – except Germany.

Yes but what makes them strong? Why are other nations turning to Germany?

Is their rate of growth high and if so, what makes them so? Is it a low ratio of population? Is it a low military budget? Is it an example of successful capitolism? And why and how?
