I'm assuming that god exists outside of our physical universe, in the supernatural, and so can't have a physical body. If that's so, then god can't have any sexuality either, lacking the necessary equipment, and so must be neither male nor female. God should be referred to as 'it'. Or maybe 'It' if you prefer capitals. This begs the question of how Man was created in god's image....how would a non-sexual being create Man? This wasn't always so. I recall that the Greek and Roman gods interbred, not only with each other but with mankind too. I think there were gods who were part-human. But now there's only one, there's no one to procreate with. The immaculate conception was a miracle, I suppose, not genuine procreation in the manner we're used to, since Mary remained a virgin.
Some of the Christians I discuss with in real life use "God" as the pronoun, even to the point where you get words like "Godself" in place of "himself". I seem to recall the immaculate conception being the conception of Mary, not that of Jesus. Jesus is often referred to as God's only begotten son, which implies some difference between Jesus and Adam, who was created more than begotten, I guess. I don't know what makes something into procreation, or what makes procreation "genuine" (or what Biblical authors thinks makes someone a virgin), but it doesn't seem problematic to me to create things in non-sexual ways. Many polytheistic fertility deities are female and still credited with the creating of children.
I think the image spoken of isn't physical but is in regards to consciousness. God breathed life or his consciousness into humans so we have a small fragment of him in us. This is eternal and cannot die. It reincarnates . To eventually be absorbed back into the source, god the creator. Keeps him from being bored..
Near death experiencer Christian Andreason felt that the Holy Spirit of Trinity Fame was really The Divine Feminine, YHWH the Mother. http://www.allaboutchristian.com/spirituality/
RE: Why is god always referred to as 'He'? ⁜→ DennisTate, et al, A man should look for what is, and not what he thinks should be. .......................................................................... — Albert Einstein The Near-Death Experience (NDE) is a yet unexplained Phenomenon, but with a lot of theories. In fact, scientifically speaking, it is not known if out-of-body experiences (OBEs) and Near-Death Experience (NDE) are one and the same phenomenon, or if they are independently triggered by some trauma. (COMMENT) Whatever the NDE and OBE are, they seem to have a profound impact upon those that have experienced it. One common takeaway from an NDE is that, for those who have experienced them,a very high percentage → come away with a belief in the afterlife. BTW: 'YHWH' (Yahweh) is a Bronze Age name for the more modern deity identity: "Jehovah." They both have a similar tetragrammaton. Just my thought... Most Respectfully, R
The real answer is of course that God refers to Himself in masculine terms all throughout the Bible. While He does not have a gender He has chosen to reveal Himself to us in male terms.

If you are Mormon then you believe God has a physical body with the attendant genitalia. His wife also has her own physical body with her own attendant genitalia. The people who believe God is a spirit are on shakier ground.
RE: Why is god always referred to as 'He'? ⁜→ cirdellin,, et al, BLUF: IF you hold to the legend of the Supreme Being within the Abrahamic Religions, THEN you that essentially in the description of Genisis. Something to the effect that: In such a belief system, anything is imaginarily possible. (COMMENT) IF you believe in the "Supreme Being" at all, THEN you believe in the existence of the "supernatural." And IF your "supernatural entity" has the assigned (by man) characteristic of being "All-Powerful" • "All-knowing" (perfect knowledge) • "Transcending any Reality and any Dimension" (in any space and any time) • THEN (relative to the question) the Supreme Being has the energy to assume any appearance in any form. The question presupposes that the assignment of gender to the Supreme Being comes originally from ancient common beliefs assumed in a (less enlightened) Patriarchy social system. Most Respectfully, R
Why is Yahweh male? Well, for at one point he had a wife called Ashera. https://www.seeker.com/gods-wife-edited-out-of-the-bible-almost-1766083399.html
Why do you assume God's existence outside our universe means They can't have physical bodies? The Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost? The same people that claim this also believe God is so big he fills the universe and yet so small he can dwell in our hearts. If he's outside the universe, how is he filling the universe as well? See. Perhaps God the Father is a Glorified Man and Jesus is now because of His Resurrection (The joining of His Spirit and Physical Body) a Glorified Son of the Father. And, the Holy Ghost is Spirit that can fill the Universe and connect the vastness of the Universe so that the Father and Son know what is going on everywhere. That includes being able to assist us in communication with God through prayer. Therefore, The Father is our Father and male. And, we have a Mother that is in heaven as well. And, we are created in their image, male and female. When Jehovah (Jesus) organized the material in the Universe, he was also able to control every inch of the Universe and the matter therein. He had help from Michael, the arc angel and the hosts in Heaven. Why do Christians sometimes go metaphysical and supernatural? There is no evidence for this. But, the Bible does say we are made in God's image and likeness. Physical. Even our spirits are physical, just a different type of material. And, our intelligence has always existed, even in the form of energy. For, matter cannot be created nor destroyed. It's always been here, just in different forms.
